The Definitive Pixar In-Jokes List

Wow just stumbled on this amazing.

Ah crud, did I say something that somebody else already found? Sorry about that. %D;

I donā€™t know if this has been mentioned yet, but I just watched Toy Story 3 again, and found this:

Mr. Ray!

Iā€™m pretty sure a lot of the Toy Story 3 and Cars Toons easter eggs had been found before. The only thing missing is to remember all of them and add them to the list. I still have a link from last year that shows a lot of the Toy Story 3 easter eggs, so Iā€™d suggest looking there:

Hey guys? Do references pertaining to the video games count? Because in Tokyo Mater (again), somebody pointing out on DA that one of the extra cars looks familiarā€¦

She has the exact same paint job as Emma, a British dirt racer/ship tease with Mater from a couple of the Cars video games.

I think that qualifies as most obscure reference ever. Who knew Pixar cared about the games?

Netbug - Perhaps one day I will include references that are included in video games. But right now I have my hands full organising references for the the Pixar films and short films. I will see how things go after Iā€™ve updated the listā€¦

I was hoping youā€™d return some day to update this thread.

The ball from Luxo Jr. Shows up in the 2011 State Farm commercial, on the little trains!

Hey-lo Pixar Planeteers! Just popping in to say that I am still planning on updating this in-jokes list, yes yes. Iā€™m hoping that within the next month or so I will be able to start updating it again. Iā€™ve been working on a personal project of mineā€¦

So feel free to capture any in-jokes at all from Cars 2 on DVD, especially since I donā€™t have the DVD yet, and post them here (you can upload it to TinyPic). That would be such a great help. Even any tips posted here would be awesome too, along with a time and description of where in the film the in-joke appears.

Thank you!

Dilinger - Thanks for that! I might use that commercial when I create an ā€œotherā€ category for the in-jokes list.

OK, I am startled about how much you guys know! But I guess thatā€™s because we love Pixar so much! So I have a cool thing to show youā€¦ itā€™s not exactly on-topic (but trust me, I will find one in-joke that hasnā€™t been mentioned here one of these days and I will mention it), but it does have to do with a Pixar in-joke. Has anyone here heard of The Road To Pixar? Basically, a group of Pixar-loving college students made a real-life replica of the Pizza Planet Truck! It is incredibly spot-on! Itā€™s obviously in better condition than the real one, but well, wow! Check out their blog and their progress here!

Like I said, one of these days Iā€™ll find one thing that hasnā€™t already been postedā€¦

OK, I spent nearly two hours reading all 30 pages of the Pixar references, and I now know that I have undeniably epic Cars 2 info that hasnā€™t been mentioned here! Hereā€™s a sneak preview, and soon to be some screenshots!

  • A handful of Tokyo Mater extras seemed to have crashed (no pun intended) the Tokyo party
  • Pizza Planet Truck found!
  • Pixar movie parody playing at the drive-in theater (Title TBA)
Isnā€™t this exciting?! And thereā€™s a couple of rumors I have to know the answer to if any of you are able to track it down!

Director Mark Andrews has confirmed a while ago that all the Pixar Easter Eggs are returning in Brave!

"Yes, everything is in here. Everything. All of the typical things, those little insider jokes are all in the movie. Youā€™ve got hours and hours hours with the Blu-ray to look for them. There it is! But itā€™s right there, yeah.

John Ratzenbergerā€™s Scottish accent is good, itā€™s not bad. He had a couple of goes at it, but he got there. Heā€™s one of the guards in the background. His voice is in there but if you canā€™t pick him out weā€™ve done our job and nailed it."

I love to see how they put the Pizza Planet Truck into the Scottish Highlands!

I found a reference to Newt in Brave:

I also found A113 in Cars 2:

Also, the tapestry seen in Brave was actually in Cars 2 but it showed Merida and her family as Cars.

And, apparently the Pizza Planet truck DOES make an appearance in Brave, as a wood carving.

Thereā€™s a third A113 in Cars 2?! Awesome! The other two belong to Mater and Siddley, of course. And now that I know where the Brave characters show up in Cars 2, I must go and find a screenshot! Awesome! And once I have, Iā€™ll post my complete Cars 2 in-joke screengrabs!

Hereā€™s a picture of the tapestry as seen in Cars 2:

Found some of the in-jokes for Brave.

The Pizza Planet Truck in Brave.

The Monsters University reference in Brave.

Man, you beat me to it! I was just about to post those! lol

A113 is apparently on the door leading to the witchā€™s workshop. There are beads hanging off of it, one on the bottom shaped like an A and going up from there you can see a series of one, one and three beads in a row.

This is only kind of an in-jokeā€¦ but I thought it was so cool I couldnā€™t help but list it! In Cars 2, the French merchant with eyes in her headlights who freaked Mater out is named Celine Dephare (according to the diecast model of her), which is very close to the name of Celine LeClair, the critic in Ratatouille who first tries Remyā€™s soup! It just occured to me when I was watching Ratatouille today! Cool, right?

In one of the first images released for the new Toy Story Toon, Partysaurus Rex, you can see Sulleyā€™s fur as the toilet seat cover.
