The Famous and the Infamous

Forenote: I’d just like to say that

luxo was the original one who gave me this idea…when he made this quote in the

The Studio and People board:

So, without further ado: What

famous (or infamous) people have you met?

This includes: Celebrities, popular authors,

famous music artists, etc…

Here is my list of the “sort of famous” people I have met:

Jim Cummings - He is a voice actor and an acquiantance of my dad’s.

Very nice guy. He gave me a purple monkey toy when I was eight, I think.

:stuck_out_tongue:

Andreas Schiff - He was the one who animated Scar, Jafar, and other

infamous villians. It sure was a treat meeting an animator who worked on my second favorite film in the world

(The Lion King).

Ollie Johnson - In reality,

I didn’t meet him; I only caught a glimpse of him. My dad took my sister and I to work with him one day, and it

just so happened that he had to catch a seminar or something at Disney Studios. Turns out that Ollie Johnson was

at the same event, and I was only feet away from him when he came out from the meeting. I could have had a chance

to meet him, I really could have. But…I didn’t want to bother him. He was surrounded by a small group of

people, so I didn’t bother. Worst mistake of my life. :stuck_out_tongue:

How about you guys? Have you ever had a similar

experience?

This was definitely my “year of celebrities”.

;-p

met:

Sarah Vowell
Owen

Wilson

saw:

Jerry Seinfeld
John Ratzenberger
Larry the Cable

Guy
John Lasseter
anyone else that attended the Cars World Premiere
the Beach

Boys

~~=oP

You met Owen Wilson PV? That?s cool! Its so cool that you saw John

Lasseter. Anybody that has seen John Lasseter are so blessed.

Oh yes! He

autographed my Lightning plushie. He is just as handsome in person.

Heehee.

~~=oP

Yeah I remember you saying that he autographed your Lightning plushie.

Luuuucky! That man is so

hot… I would love to meet him in person! Let’s see… I can’t remember that many, but let’s

see…

People I’ve met
-Imogen Heap (singer)
-Randy Newman

(singer)
-Neil and Adrian Rayment (actors, the Twins from the second Matrix movie)

People

I’ve seen
-Coldplay (band) concert
-Jhonen Vasquez (artist)
-James Marsters (actor,

Spike from Buffy)

I also met quite a few voice actors at anime convenstions, like Scott McNeil, David

Kaye, and Kirby Morrow. They’re funny guys.

I’ve met:

William Duvall He was the

frontman for Alice in Chains at their most recent tour.

J Loren He’s the

frontman for the rock band, Hurt

Paul Spatola He’s the GUITARIST from Hurt

:stuck_out_tongue:

I met all these gentleman a few weeks ago at an Alice in Chains concert, and got their autographs

Mr. Spatola came up to me and introduced himself

I hope Jhonen Vasquez attends a comic con soon!

Let’s see,

not a terribly extensive list, but…

Have Met:

 • Kentucky Headhunters

(Grammy-winning country band): My dad loaned them the money for their first album, so our family’s been good

friends with them for a long while.

 • David Hyde Pierce: Got his autograph after seeing Spamalot on Broadway.

Unfortunately, I didn’t find out that he’d voiced Slim until afterwards, so no autographed picture of our

favorite walking stick to hang on my wall…

Have Seen:

 • Wayne Gretzky:

Went to a Phoenix Coyotes game last spring, he’s the coach.

 • Story Musgrave: Former astronaut, was a speaker

at the camp I went to this summer.

 • Georg von Tiesenhausen: One of the original German scientists who came to

America with Wernher von Braun, was another speaker at camp.

That’s pretty much it. I’ve probably got

some others, but apparently they weren’t famous enough for me to remember them. :stuck_out_tongue:

PixarVixen - Oh woah – that is…quite an impressive list.

:open_mouth:

Aggie - Very cool. Did you just run into them (the people you met)

accidentally, or were you formally introduced to them?

Ectoplasmicblobbything - First of all, it took me about five seconds to type

out your name. :stuck_out_tongue:

Secondly, that’s awesome! There is nothing like meeting your favorite music artists in

person.

DElf4242 - Very interesting. That’s neat that your dad helped out

the Kentucky Headhunters band, and it must have also been a treat meeting Mr. Pierce. It’s too bad that you

didn’t realize that he played Slim until afterwards, though…

You all have rather interesting stories

to tell! Any more are warmly welcome.

I feel sad. I have never met any famous

actor/singer/dancer/performer in my life. :frowning:

I can’t say I’ve met anyone very famous… I’m too shy to go talk to them… heh. But

I’ve seen quite a few people… except I can’t remember them all.

I only recollect 2 at the

moment…

Ryan Seacrest
- Meh. I saw him at Disneyland. I don’t

particularly like him though so I just walked on by.

Hugh Heffner/b -

Okay… I’ll admit I didn’t know what his name was at the time but I do know that he is like "the

playboy". I saw him at Disneyland too… it was pretty funny. He was going on Haunted Mansion and he was in

his private room before mine and before his doors closed everyone was just staring at him. He had like 7 of his

bunnies with him. It was pretty funny. They were all blonde, but each with a “unique” style- one was

punkish… one was Barbieish… with Hugh with his robe in the middle.

Living in SoCal you see a lot of

famous people (I have a friend that has hunted many of them down… lol).

You saw Ryan Seacrest and passed him up?!

dies

Heheh. I had the biggest crush on him a few years ago. I still think he’s hot, but the hype has

died down. However, I would NOT pass him in public. :stuck_out_tongue:

PixarVixen

out!

~~=oP

Rik Mayall + Adrian Edmondson: British Comedians

Miriam Margoyles: Professor

Sprout, one of the evil aunts in James and the Giant Peach, plus loads of other non-kids, non animation roles

that she’s famous for XD

Most of the cast of Lord of the Rings, cos we were outside at the premiere of

the Two Towers. Also, Sean Bean posted us (Mell and I) an autograph, and Dominic Monaghan signed Mell’s Little

Miss Day of the Week underpants and posted them back to us…

Idina Menzel: Wicked, Maureen in RENT

(including the movie)

Tyler Mane: Sabretooth in X-Men (not to mention dressed as the Tooth Fairy - me,

not him)

Uhm… the guy that is Chakotay in Star Trek Voyager, LOL

Noel Clarke, Micky in Doctor

Who. Well, Mell spoke to him, I was sweating profusely at a cash machine at the time XD

Uh… I’ve also

met Darren Day. He was in drag at the time - doing Rocky Horror, haha. For that matter… Richard O’Brien,

Patricia Quinn and a few others from the RHPS movie.

hmmm - famous people.

I suppose I shall have to

break this into about 3 groups…

Dash and I went to MGM Studios this summer during Star Wars Weekends. We got to see Jake Lloyd

(young Anakin) and Warwick Davis (Wickett the ewok) up close.

We didn’t find out until right before they

arrived at their tents that you could only get their autographs if you used your FastPass early in the morning.

It was so unfair. But one of the crew members was nice enough to give me a pre-signed photo of Jake.

~~=oP

You all have very impressive stories to tell. I thank you all for sharing your

experiences with us.

And Dash, that is a very impressive list. Why can’t

I be luckier? :stuck_out_tongue:

You’re not serious? You don’t know how jealous I am right

now… :stuck_out_tongue:

Again, thank you all! More submissions are always welcome.

I am so jealous. Why can’t I be

as lucky as most of you out there? :frowning:
