The Good Dinosaur (2015)

They could just call it “Dinosaur.”

Oh wait.

Nah, they can’t.

Did anyone actually see Disney’s Dinosaur? I remember seeing it in the cinema once but I’m not going to lie, I barely remember anything from it.

Yes, I’ve seen it various times, and I remember enough.

I see that film as more of a showcase for the technology of placing CGI characters against real-life backgrounds. The story and characters are rather forgettable, however, so I wouldn’t blame someone for not remembering much.

The good dinosaur? Hmm…

That.

I enjoyed it when I was a child, for different reasons. For one, we always liked dinosaurs, and also because at the time, we didn’t know much about rhythm and other stuff the film lacks.

This means the main character dinosaur isn’t evil. Unless they’re being ironic.

That’s another thing that bothers me.

The title seems to imply that dinosaurs are evil per se and this one is an exception.

Yes, I get that impression too. Or at least, the dinosaurs are seen as the bad guys. This movie is about a world where the dinosaurs never went extinct and co-exist with humans, right? And if the dinosaurs are completely sentient, then there’s probably some hostility between the species.

I actually watched it pretty recently. It’s a pretty cool movie, not bad at all. Just forgettable. It’s kind of depressing (it’s set during the extinction period) and there’s some pretty intense dinosaur fight scenes. Unfortunately the story and characters leave more to be desired and queen_of_painting is right… it’s basically a CGI/photography art showcase.

edit: It’s got nothing on Rite of Spring from Fantasia.

I’m still really excited for this. Bob Peterson is great!

I think the title sounds more like a satuday mourning cartoon. Maybe if they take out “Good”, it will sound better.

The Dinosaur?

Sounds way better, but I think they’ll have problems with that because people will confuse it with preexisting things with a similar name.

I too do not like this title and agree it sounds too childish.

You’re right it does seem like that, and I don’t like that either.

Yeah it’s a little too kid-friendly, but maybe they’ll change it like they did with Brave. The Good Dinosaur is probably a working-title.

I’ve always wanted to see Pixar take on a film about dinosaurs, considering the amount of them they’ve had in the past like Jurassic Park, The Land Before Time, King Kong and Dinosaur.

I defintely did not get that impression, but I do see what you mean.

I do think the title seems to imply that. And I don’t like it. Dinosaurs aren’t evil, and I don’t see much sense in portraying them like that. I actually doubt they will, rendering the title ineffective.

Now, if something was called The Good Zombie or The Good… er… Nazi, I would understand. They’re both traditionally portrayed as evil groups, so if one of them is a noble character I can get the meaning (even if the title is still unattractive).

But in this… I don’t like it.

You could be right, or we all could be looking into this title way too much and overanalyzing it.

What if the song “Walk the Dinosaur” was used in this film? 8D

Thwy don’t need to even have a title with the word dinosaur in it. Just because it’s wabout one dosen’t mean it has to have the word in it.

I think I’ll pack my bags and leave Pixar until they make a sequel to one of their already tried and true films again. The title of this film scares me away because if it is about the GOOD dionsaur, one can surmise that dinosaurs and humans are at war with one another, rather than working together. I thought that since the dinosaurs did not die out, people could use apatosuaruses for cars and pterodactyls for planes. But since this film is now “How to Train Your Dragon” with dinosaurs instead of dragons, and then Vikings instead of pirates for the ineviatable, Good Dinosaur Rides Again!, I am backing out.

The inside the mind film also intrigued me but I can’t stand that director after Up, so I have nothing to look forward to from Pixar except Monsters University and the (rumored) Toy Story 4.

Did I mention that I am not watching ANYTHING with “Day of the Dead” in the title, no matter what langauge the title is in?
But
