The Good Dinosaur (2015)

If that’s so, I hope it’s indeed a bit dark and not simply played out for laughs.

Not to discourage that thought, but as a head’s up, I think some of it might be played for laughs. I only think this because John Lasseter described somewhere that they were supposed to be “kind of cartoony/funny”, but not wearing clothes or anything like that. I’m not saying that all or even a majority might have that, but maybe a part or a few parts will have that.

I think it’s safe to say it won’t be among the darkest of the Pixar films, maybe somewhere in the middle. That’s not to say a light-hearted tale can’t have well-used dark parts, it can. Look at Toy Story 3, that handled the dark stuff pretty well.

Yes, that’s what I mean.

Though I would like something in the vein of Up, mood-wise.

Actually, that sounds very do-able. And Bob Peterson has a huge hand in both of those films, so that is a very likely thing to happen.

That sounds awesome actually. Any news on if there will indeed be a teaser for this before MU? Usually we’ve heard something about that by now.

Yes, apparently they’re choosing to promote Frozen instead

Aw. Well, I plan on loving that film, too. But still, why does it have to be a matter of picking and choosing either a Pixar trailer of a Disney trailer with each new Pixar film? What I mean is why do the theaters show one or the other instead of both? I remember seeing a teaser trailer for The Incredibles AND a Brother Bear trailer (which even made a Nemo joke) before Finding Nemo played. Then they stopped doing that when WALL-E came out, and starting with Brave, you never know which one you’ll see, never mind if you see it in 3D or not. You’ll see one but not the other, and you’re usually not sure which one. :open_mouth:

Disney doesn’t usually promote their next film with whichever one plays in theaters anymore, which I don’t know why. There’s an idea. Or I don’t mind Pixar and Disney playing as a tag-team and showing each other’s trailers at the release of each new film. That reduces the wait to only half a year since the first trailer!

As long as they are both online soon, though, I’m good.

Really disappointing that it seems like we won’t be a teaser for this right now. I remember reading somewhere that Pixar had decided to become more cryptic about their future slate because they’re annoyed with people jumping to conclusions after leaked artwork.

Aw man. A Frozen trailer is LONG overdue though, but having seen it… yeah, they could have done something way better. It feels like a cross between an Ice Age trailer and a really bad Pixar short. Disney just has trouble marketing its fairy tales, like when they made Tangled look like a Shrek-style satire. Anyway, we’ll definitely get a teaser for Good Dinosaur by the time MU comes out on DVD and Blu Ray, hopefully earlier than that though…

Hmm. Although that’s sort of bothersome, it also makes me anticipate it a lot more. I kind of prefer not knowing more than a vague premise when it comes to the upcoming Pixar projects. I remember all I knew about WALL-E leading up to its release (granted this is also because I avoided hearing about it) was that it starred two robots that were in love and it took place in the future. I had no idea they’d be onboard a spaceship with humans and all that. Same goes for Up. It was a lot more exciting not having a clear idea of what I was in for.

That being said, I sort of am disappointed there won’t be a teaser after all. But there’s been so much new Pixar stuff lately that I don’t mind that much. Maybe it’ll give them more time to refine

One reason I like the Pixar teasers is because what you see will not end up in the final film (except Brave. About 1 9/10 shots ended up in the film. And occasionally one line ends up getting used, but anyway). That’s usually why I like to see them a year before the film’s release. But as long as I see the trailer for the next Disney movie, I’m happy. I’m really excited for Frozen!

I was very annoyed to not see anything on The Good Dinosaur. I thought putting a teaser for the next year’s feature is a Pixar norm. What makes me even more annoyed is the fact that they’ll probably put a Good Dino teaser in front of Planes or something, which I fully expect not to see in theatre. I guess Youtube is my friend when it comes to it.

What do you guys think about this? Should we be looking?

Bob Peterson said this on Twitter:

And…it is rumored that we at Pixar plant an object from next year’s movie in this year’s movie…Good hunting to you.

Yes, I never had any doubt that there’s a Good Dinosaur reference in MU, but the problem is that this time we don’t know what to look for.

I’m sorry, but that’s kinda creepy. Pixar will probably make it work, but just that sentence sounds really creepy.

It’s apparently been confirmed.

I don’t think it’ll be creepy at all, but I would love if it was a little.

I agree^, it probably will be made in a comedic way (though I would prefer a dark film).

There’s actually one, toys that seem to be the protagonists appear in a Scare Simulator, in a fake bedroom, where there are stuffed animals of dinosaurs.

Yes, I found the picture yesterday:
Apparently the dinosaur’s name is Jacob
That was a pretty easy reference to put in! Children do love dinosaurs.
