I have a lot of concerns for this movie, but on the whole I think the concept is very Pixar-ish and I am interested in seeing what directions it’ll take.
I recently decided to make a 3D version of the logo for The Good Dinosaur for fun. While it isn’t finished yet, I just wanted to see what everyone thought, and see if anyone had any tips to make it better. The reason behind this was that I had noticed that the past few Pixar movies have had their logos stylized in 3D, and just wanted to try and see if I could figure out what the logo will look like if they go that route again for this movie.
The dinosaurs not talking sounds interesting, but I’m afraid if that were the case, some nitpickers might be the first ones to mention how it’s too similar to How To Train Your Dragon.
Also, I hope they somehow address the fact that birds are dinosaurs as well. Provided there are going to be birds in the movie. If not, well.
Anyway, I’m still pretty excited for this one. Sounds like a true ‘Pixar’ film from what I’ve heard!
Well, a lot of animals don’t talk in many films. I don’t think that’ll mean a comparison with How to Train Your Dragon, unless the plot is also similar.
I havent heard to much about this one yet so it was interesting to read through some of this & find out a little about what’s going on. I like Thomas Newman a lot too, and I agree Randy Newman can get repetitive. As for characters speaking/not speaking, I’ll be interested to see how that gets structured for sure. I remember there being concern about the robot characters in WALL-E not saying much beyond a few words.
I think it’s better to not have the animals talk. To me, when the animals communicate with the human protagonist, it sort of breaks my suspension of disbelief, unless there’s some kind of reason why they can talk to him.
Whatever choice Pixar makes with this movie, I’m sure it will be a good one, but I have no idea what they will do to have the humans and dinosaurs talk. I have a feeling I’ll like what will happen, though.
In Beauty and the Beast, I find it fine that Belle can talk with the castle residents since they were humans to begin with. I guess the same could be said for Kuzco, one of the exceptions where animals and humans can probably talk together, and at least they demonstrate how weird it would be otherwise with the whole “Demon Llama!” part. Also, maybe that’s where 2D animation can provide some flexibility…maybe, or maybe not.
I don’t mind them communicating separately like in Finding Nemo or Ratatouille. I do think that to have just one of the species speak in the movie at all could make it that much more powerful, though.
EDIT: I’m so sorry if I interrupted! I got excited to share my thought. I guess I could have waited. Sorry.
