It would be PERFECT without them.
Exactly. They were added since Michael Eisner wanted something in there to appeal to the kids. Just another casualty from when he was at Disney.
He ruined everything.
I wouldn’t say everything in the movie.
I actually kind of like the gargoyles.
No, not the movie, just in general.
Oh, ok. I wasn’t too thrilled with him either.
Me too!
I’m still not sure if they were just part of Quasimodo’s imagination though
I always thought they were real because didn’t one of them throw something at someone and hit them during a fight scene near the end?
Yep. They threw some sort of catapult onto a couple soldiers.
That’s why I think they’re real. If they weren’t, they couldn’t have made contact with someone besides Quasi and get a reaction.
I think they were intended to be imaginary and that those occasions are slips.
I wish they weren’t there at all. I can see their purpose, and it’s a great idea, but God are they annoying.
I think they’re just as annoying as some of Disney’s other comic relief characters.
I was able to view a fan-edit of the film that took out a lot of the scenes featuring the gargoyles (although it would be impossible to take out all their scenes and have the story still flow).
To be honest, I enjoyed it a lot more than the original.
^I can imagine that take being a thousand times more enjoyable. In fact, I must see it now!
The gargoyles could of been great characters and not an excuse for comic relief.
~sigh~ Guys, How many times do I have to sau this! Their there for comedy relief! If they weren’t there then a lot of the film would be depressing to some kids. That they do change the story a little to make it more family frendly. Do you think the real Mulan actally talked to a real little dragon? Pocahontas was about 12 in her real story and about 17 in the Disney version, people didm’t like it at first, but it was for best because seeing a much older man hanging with a 12 year old would be creepy. Some change’s are for the best and some worse. This was for worse in most case’s, but it was for the kids.
I know that. I’m just saying that the gargoyles would of been better had they not been an excuse for comic relief by Eisner. What would of worked was if Quasi was imagining them coming to life. That would of added something cool and unique to the story.
Frollo is one of my favorite Disney villains. He’s truly evil, but at the same time, very complex.
