The Hunchback of Notre Dame

This was on TV today.

Really? What channel?

I think it was Disney XD.

I agree

I was gonna watch it but forgot all about it.

I wish they would air this and other Disney movies more othen. They always air the same stuff.

It’s now available on blue ray! And this is my favorite Disney animated movie I have all the toys will take pics when I get the chance

I watched a few weeks ago for the first time since I saw it in theaters. I had forgotten how dark the movie was. Having seen it again I think I’m good for awhile. I think the songs were good though. That villain song stayed in my head all the next day.

It’s one of my favorites. I wish I had a special edition or blu ray. I have the Disney masterpiece collection DVD. No special features. :frowning:

I understand the need to lighten the mood, but if you’re going to do that, you better make sure that your attempts at comedy are as proficient as your drama. The dramatic aspects of Hunchback are wonderful, and because the comedy writing isn’t up to par, it makes the comedy elements feel desperate and ultimately frustrating.

I have not seen this film. Everyone says it’s one of Disney’s best. I hope I can see it soon.

OMG it’s amazing. However, I agree, the one and only thing I don’t love, is the comedic elements. The gargoyles are stupid. Period.

The comedic elements were the blandest thing in the film, but they’re not overtly bad, so they don’t detract from the greatness of this film.

It’s in fact one of the best products of the Renaissance, so you should see it as soon as possible.

I’ll certainly need to see it at some point. I find it interesting that everyone just loves everything about the movie so much except the gargoyles which nobody can seem to stand! 8D Could they really be that bad? Well, hopefully they’d only bug me a little, not a lot. I try not to let those things bother me.

I love the gargoyles lol you need some comedic relief since the movie touches a lot of deep issues.

The writing for the gargoyles is quite jarring, as it breaks the tone of the drama established in the film’s earlier scenes. I think that might be why people hate them so much. Again, fart and snot jokes seemed to demonstrate that Disney didn’t trust their own material and that they were having both ways and please as many quadrants as they could. I think the film would of had a better reputation today if the Disney execs had restrained their paranoia and gone whole hog for drama, while still using appropriate comedy and dialogue.

Here’s some pics I posted. I’m going to reenact the whole movie in pics.

That’s wonderful! Where did you get the model cathedral?

Thanks  It’s from a toy set that I bought on eBay.

I was coincidentally considering buying this model, which of course is much more realistic and not like the one in the film, but I collect them.

That’s wonderful! I must admit I have a small obsession with Notre Dame cathedral. I just saw it in the background of one shot in Les Mis and nearly cried. I guess it’s my dream to visit the cathedral one time in real life. 8D
