Welcome back Peter. If you’re still recuperating, I wish you a speedy recovery (although you should be fine since you’ve been discharged). Hope we can get those commentaries up and running again!
Hello there!
My name is Mark, and i’ve yet to sort out an avatar! But enough about that…I live in London! But enough about THAT too.
I’ve liked Pixar since being a child in primary school. I can fondly remember seeing Toy story in the cinema 3 times, forcing my own Mum to go and see it on her birthday. That…in retrospect seems quite selfish of me. The folly of youth and all that!
Still, ever since then I was hooked on all things pixar as a child. All be it rather unknowingly. I can remember sitting in the cloak room at primary school (Grade school) doing talking about a bug’s life with other children…and i was often late for class because of it. Though on reflection I doubt the kids were as into it all as I perhaps was.
The whole trend has continued throughout my life, however. I seem to absolutely refuse to grow up (in my 20s now…I’m already having a midlife crisis) and I often have to bribe my friends, or at least pay for their ticket to go and see the latest pixar movie. Though one is starting to become a convert now so perhaps soon things will change.
It’s far too hard to pick a favourite movie of theirs because so many have been really excellent. However, I found Wall-E to be easily the best film that came out last year, and toy story shall forever sit fondly in my memory as one of the defining moments of my childhood…which sounds a bit soppy, but ho-hum.
I’m glad to have found such a wonderful little website to start dwelling in. And I can only hope that I will remain here for many years to come!
Welcome Mark-E! ![]()
Welcome to Pixar Planet, Mark-E! ![]()
Wow, one of your friends is becoming a convert. ![]()
You know, I tried paying tickets for my friends to see Pixar films, but none of them seemed to be really interested in Pixar. ![]()
Thank you both for the welcomes!
It was quite a hard task to get them to see it. Ratatouille was almost out of the cinema. And I think i was basically on my knees throwing money at them ![]()
Hello, Mark-E! It’s nice to meet you. Welcome to the forum. =D
Welcome to the boards, Mark-E!
Good to see another English Pixar fan, there aren’t many of us. ![]()
We’re a dying breed in England!
For some reason people seem to prefer shrek much more. Almost as if it was the second coming ![]()
Although I had to watch it free times in one day back in secondary school, put me off forever.
If you look close enough, you can see me tearing apart shrek displays in toy shops up and down the country.
Thank you for the welcomes, everyone! This is easily the friendliest forum i’ve ever joined. Clearly carrying the pixar spirit.
Welcome to Pixar Planet Mark-E
Hi again guys!
I had a few problems that caused me not to be on for the last few days. Thanks to Dash, I’m was able to log in today.
Glad to have you back on the boards nighwheel.
Welcome aboard, Mark-E. I had no idea the Brits were more enamoured with Shrek than Woody & Co. That is very intriguing…
But welcome welcome welcome! Donald Duck is win! ![]()
And welcome back, nightwheel!
Hi Tiago. I wondered where you had gone. You were like the 2nd person to respond in full to my first thread ever (Wall-E forum), then you disappeared for 2 1/2 months. Glad you are back.
Sorry I’m late! Welcome Mark-E! Glad to have you here. ![]()
I’m glad to be here! And you really don’t ave to apologize for being late or anything like that. I’m not going to hold a grudge ![]()
And as far as the shrek situation goes…I obviously can’t speak for the whole of england. But a lot of people i know really do seem to adore everything about it over here.
I think i’d base that on the fact that it’s quite a cynical film in some respects. And cynicism and mockery are something that tend to be welcomed with open arms in Blighty!
But I don’t like to generalize…I know that not all english folk are like this.
Still…thank you for the welcomes…you’re all too kind.
I agree, Mark-E. Shrek is extremely popular over here, much more so than most Pixar films. I think in this case, it’s fair to generalise. You’re right, there is that added cynicism that appeals to the English humour.
I already made a personal thread before i was told about this one, but anyways, Im new, so whats up everybody?
Hello, CMB! Welcome to the boards. ![]()
