The Last Airbender Vs. Toy Story 3

I think these two will be the biggest summer movies of 2010. The only thing is, who will win? I have a bad feeling The Last Airbender might. Cause when I saw Up and they showed the Toy Story 3 teaser, silence. Then when I saw Revenge of the fallen and they showed the teaser for TLA. People cheered when it said the title. And a little 8 year old kid was freaking out and shaking. None of that happened with the Toy Story 3 teaser. I have a bad feeling The Last Airbender may beat Toy Story 3. But I’m gonna help by seeing Toy Story 3 in the theater 10 times in a row. WHO’S WITH ME??!?!

It might be a little to early for me to think that, but so far, those two movies are seemingly very highly anticipated.

Yeah they do

I just hope TS3 beats TLA in box office numbers by a little bit. Not too much. Since I am planning to see both Toy Story 3 AND The Last Airbender at midnight. I just hope this won’t make me betray Pixar.

Since both are really big-time movies with such high anticipation, most likely they won’t open theatres on the same day. But we will see which movie does better finacialy.

Yes we will

Toy Story 3 will likely win…it has a wider audience (even crass teenagers in Youtube comments want to see it) and is a bit more mainstream than Avatar. I still want both to do very well though, as right now they’re my most anticipated movies for 2010.

Hm. Both movies received high anticipation. Both films have ‘shady’ rumors about their filmmakers (especially M. Night’s The Happening). Both blockbusters have a very big fanbase, which guarantees box office success. But, I would say Toy Story 3 as I don’t trust M. Night Shyamalan that much, yet. I need to see better works of him to be desiring in watching Avatar: The Last Airbender a whole lot.

For now, I might watch it, but at matinee price.

I think Dragon of Ommipotency speaks wonders. As what people say over at the Halo forums at bungie.net.
Back on topic…
Dragon is absolutely right, M.Night has made a lot of bad movies, even though I’ve never seen any of his movies, just read reviews, and Pixar has only failed once (Finding Nemo, but that’s my opinion) So Toy Story 3 HAS to win.

I’m very sorry, but I’m more excited for The Last Airbender then Toy Story 3[spoil][/spoil]

Both directors will be working closely with the original source material, as Pixar has made sure to get back as much of the original cast that was possible, and M.Knight worked closely with Avatar’s creators. But I must agree that I’m not exactly at ease with M.Knight being in charge of such an epic tale as The Last Airbender. I just hope he does well enough to allow the sequels to be produced as well.

Toy Story 3. Plain and simple. With movies like The Last Airbender, they try to make a decent movie based on a TV series or franchise and it never works. For Example Dragon Ball: Evoulition only made like three million dollars. :frowning:

But it seems that most kids these days consider Toy Story as a baby movie which is also sad. But then why do they consider movies about monsters fighting aliens while talking about crap and other things? :open_mouth:

Toy Story 2 was a big hit, and so was Toy Story 1 so I hope this will make some money.

Finding Nemo? Failure? Seriously? As if. :stuck_out_tongue:

Anyway, it’s a pretty well known fact that sequels usually do better then origonals, espectially sequels to popular movies. Plus, I think some people are boycotting the Avatar movie due to the white actors.

In my opinion, I couldn’t care less about Avatar. That show lost my interest by the fifth grade and never regained it.

I’ll be honest, I know very little, if anything, about The Last Airbender, so anyone can correct me if I’m wrong, but as far as I’m aware it’s a franchise that’s mainly based on a young audience. Now, you might say that Toy Story 3 will also be for a young audience, but the Toy Story films are recognised for being appropriate both for adults and children, whilst something like The Last Airbender sounds to me as if it’s more of a ‘babysitter’ movie, i.e. something the kids will love but the parents will put up with. Plus there’s the fact that, as Rac_Rules said, Toy Story 3 is a sequel and it’s very familiar to a vast age range, so I’d place my bets on Pixar’s offering.

I’m not going to lie, if the Last Airbender beat Toy Story 3 I would be very surprised. Just like lizardgirl said, the Toy Story movies appeal to a much larger audience.

I predict that Avatar movie will be about as big and good as that Dragon Ball Z movie that came out a while back. No where near the best Summer film of 2010.

As for Toy Story 3, it will probably be about as big as every other Pixar film. Maybe it will have an advantage considering there is already a huge Toy Story fan base. Biggest movie of the Summer? Probably not, but at least one of them.

Rac Rules:

Lizardgirl:Babysitter? I think that depends on how old you are. I think for like 6,maybe even 8 year old’s.I think it would be good for maybe 12 and half year old’s. But maybe…
woody: No offense, but I wouldn’t.

You,are, crazy, and you are NOT a friend of mine :imp: Now get away from this thread and go along to your computer hacking :nerd:

I’m a fan of Avatar (one of the best shows ever on Nickelodeon), and I think Transformers 2 will prove more successful than The Last Airbender. Up held it’s own against Transformers 2, and it starred a 78-year-old man. Besides, Toy Story is iconic. People love Toy Story. One audience’s reaction to a trailer doesn’t mean much. There are plenty of people who are excited for Toy Story 3. I’m one of them. (I’m also excited for The Last Airbender. I really hope it lives up to the very high expectations.)

For a Pixar film, TS3 will do very well. And I’m the sure the reviews will also be very positive as always.

I’m sorry my opinion differs from yours.

Avatar is being Directed by M. Night Shyamalan. This man has not made a good film since The Sixth Sense, and he’s only gotten worse and worse over the years. I’m highly that skeptical basing his next film on a Nickelodeon cartoon will gain him much success.

I think that the Last Airbemder will be one of those movies that has a humongous opening weekend, but after that no one will see it. I know there are a lot of Avatar fans here but I don’t think that enough people will go see it for it to even come close to the biggest film of summer 2010

The Last Airbender “may not be important to SOME people, but it is very important, to the rest, of US!”

Toy Story 3, in my opinion, SHOULD win, but…we all know what WILL happen.
