I’m asking for the DVDS for Christmas.
Same here. That’s when I might get my Blu-Ray player.
I’ll probably get it right after it comes out.
I’m hoping to get the Blu Ray of it since I never had the film on video. It’s definitely my favorite Disney film from both Renaissance and all of the Disney films.
I will get the Blu-Ray. And I agree it is one of my favorite Disney Films.
I know this has nothing to do with The Lion King but Disney announced today that they’re rereleasing Beauty and The Beast next year and The Little Mermaid in 2013. Sigh, still no Hunchback rerelease.
^^I heard about that. Pretty psyched for both of those. I’m sure they’ll get to some of the older classics eventually.
Can’t say I’m particularly excited about Nemo in 3D. Seriously, I remember seeing that in theaters. It’s good, but I dunno, it’s not something I’d pay $13 to see in theaters again when I own it on DVD. Maybe I’ll feel differently in a couple of years. Come to think of it, that’s the best-selling DVD of all time or something, right? Wonder if that’ll affect ticket sales.
Love Hunchback, but I don’t know that it’s one Disney would ever invest in for re-release. Or at least, not until they’ve exhausted their more popular films. I don’t think people would go out and see it as much as they would for, say, Aladdin, since it’s not one of the better known Disney films. And it’s probably much harder to sell Quasi plush than it is to sell Simbas. Therefore, I suspect no Hunchback 3D D: they may surprise me though.
I completely agree. If Hunchback ever gets a re release, I would be very supprised. It’s definitely one of the most underrated film during the Renaissance since it was darker then their other films at the time. I tend to think people forgot about it since I don’t hear it talked about as much anymore. I’m not saying I’m begging them for a re release of it but at least a Blu-Ray release would be nice.
I do think Hunchback’s darkness plays a role in how much it’s remembered, yeah. It’s not light and fluffy like so many other Renaissance films. But people do remember it- at least, our generation does. I was talking to someone on my floor just yesterday who said she used to watch it every day when she was little. And Disney really ought to release all of its films in Blu-Ray. They probably will at some point, as it keeps getting more and more popular.
I busted out into a Lion King song in class a few days ago. Everyone was laughing when I sang “Can You Feel the Love Tonight.”
I like this film’s score by Hans Zimmer, but I think the songs by Elton John are overrated.
Hmm, okay. I actually loved both the score and the songs.
There’s one I actively dislike, but don’t remember which.
Why do you think the Elton John songs are overrated?
Because they won many accolades, but I think they weren’t that great, specially when compared with the Menken songs of other Disney films of the era.
But the reason they won so many accolades was because they were great.
Elton John is an amazing musican, the music in the Lion King was fantastic.
Yes, of course, everyone is entitled to their opinion, but mine is that the songs were overrated and that they departed from the overall tone of the musical score by Zimmer.
Of course, I’m not talking about them all. I think a couple of the songs were quite good.
Which ones do you like?
I like Hakuna Matata and Circle of Life, and sometimes I enjoy I Just Can’t Wait to be King.
The ones I really don’t like are Be Prepared and Can You Feel The Love Tonight.
I loved Be Prepared.
I am a huge fan of Hakuna Matata and Circle of Life. I am not too fond of I Just Can’t Wait to be King.
