Yeah, the more recent ones probably have a higher percentage. Personally, I wish Disney would make more traditional films along the lines of Aladdin and Lion King. They really don’t make them like that anymore.
I really think that Disney should re-release some of the Disney Renaissance films in theatres and home video for some of us new Disney fans who haven’t seen it on the big screen.
I just got back from this. The animation! The colors! The scenery! The symbols and parallels! I was blown away. It’s been years since I saw Lion King, and I didn’t watch it much when I was little, either, because I didn’t have it on VHS. It was beautiful to hear those opening chords of Circle of Life blasting in surround sound with a giant screen. Gives you chills. I’m not generally a fan of 3D, but that did add a little something to it, I’ll admit, like the part in the opening where the camera kinda pans up over a hill and you fly with Zazu to Pride Rock. But it would have been brilliant in 2D anyway. I don’t care as long as we get to experience more classics on the big screen.
Of course, I kind of freaked out when I saw Brenda Chapman’s name come up towards the beginning of the credits (I forgot she used to be at Disney) and started babbling about Brave haha. Thankfully, even though I’m only a month into college, the people I was with smiled and shrugged it off as normal for me
I actually never knew that Brenda Chapman used to work for Disney! I always thought she had worked for Dreamworks and Pixar. Ah well, guess the “you learn something new everyday” saying applies here.
I’m still not sure whether or not to see this yet in the cinema. I mean, it would be great to see my favorite Disney film on the big screen but I’m not that big on 3D.
