Yay - I’m so glad to hear that Disney hasn’t lost the magic. I’m especially glad to hear that the music is really good, too - I’m so counting the days till the soundtrack comes out! I haven’t bought a Disney soundtrack since…The Lion King, I think! That was ages ago…I’m sure if you guys are on Disney’s Facebook, you’ve seenthis video w/ Anika talking about all the music.
Also, I saw the Geico commercial on TV the other day - SO CUTE! I love the Gecko, but with Prince Naveen…too awesome.
Wow! I just watched the second trailer that I mentioned a few weeks ago, and it was spectacular! One scene in particular reminded me of Up for some reason…
Thanks for the Geico ad, Haunt! I wonder, though, how Naveen got hold of a webcam?
Great music video, CoCoMeister! I’m disappointed they didn’t show clips from the movie in the tradition of the classic official music videos, but it’s great they implied the setting and the ‘feel’ of the movie through live-action means.
I’m not sure if this has been posted, but if you haven’t seen this yet, there’s a new featurette called ‘A Leaping Love Story’. I love the clip of Louie laughing in particular, it’s freakin’ hilarious!
Look out for the appearance of ‘Hawaiian-Shirt-Man’ again.
So, the movie premiered last night in LA! And so far there is one review up…and it’s pretty good! Be warned, there is one paragraph towards the end that is spoiler-ish…
Thanks for the review, CoCoMeister! I’m not reading the review, but judging from the quote, that was a pretty glowing one!
You have no idea how excited I am for this. The other day, I was in a particular chicken fast-food restaurant with a friend and my brother, and they played Nee Yo’s new single on the TV! Naturally, I casually told them (in a slightly loud and excited voice) that this was TPATF’s new theme song, and I was really looking forward to the movie, but sadly my sibling and buddy didn’t share my enthusiasm…
I’ve been playing that number on repeat lately… it’s so sweet and feel-good. <3
It looks like it’s going to a be a sweet, charming movie in my opinion.
Although I do have to say, I like this trailer quite a bit more: youtube.com/watch?v=QxPhFXVS … re=channel
It does it so much more justice.
I’m so glad to see Disney doing 2D animation again, not that Pixar isn’t the most magnificent movie producing company (which is it? ), but it would be nice to have that feeling of ‘magic’ again, you know?
I can only hope that with the venture of 2D animation again, they’ll stay on the journey. It would be nice to have Pixar and classic Disney… best of both worlds, huh?
Not to mention, I’m super excited to hear Randy Newman’s songs!
TDIT: I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the Ne-Yo song! I have it on repeat as well - it makes me smile every time I hear it. There’s also a new video out with clips from the film. The soundtrack comes out next week - so excited for it!
I’m happy it’s been getting great reviews, too! I was in LA last week and missed out on going to the Ultimate Disney Experience (every single showing was sold out the entire Thanksgiving weekend), but I am planning to go to a screening of it this weekend. Fingers crossed!
Has anyone bought the soundtrack? I got it (that Ne-Yo song was not enough for me), and have been listening to it all week to get my ready. Can’t wait to see the animation that accompanies the songs!
So far, so good… it’s sitting at a Fresh 83% on RT, and over at IMDB, it’s rated 8.0/10. The scores should even out as more reviews pour in from advances, but I’m still going to see this regardless!
I just listened to Dr. Facilier’s “Friends on the Other Side” track out of curiousity (I didn’t watch the scene to keep the surprise), and it’s one of the best villiam numbers I’ve heard! I love the lines [spoil]“Don’t disrespect me!”[/spoil], the one where [spoil]he predicts Naveen has been pushed around by his “mother, sister and brother, too” (and I’ve got a brother and sister as well, so I know how it feels! [/spoil]), and the climatic [spoil]“Are you ready… Transformation Central!”[/spoil] (if you’ve listened to the song, it’s safe to read the spoiler tags).
This is right up there with “Poor Unfortunate Souls” and “Be Prepared”. I can’t wait!
thewisecookiesheet and CoCoMeister - Yeah, I was none too impressed with the official theme song either, but it’s sweet-natured and pleasant, so I can’t complain much about it!
I completely agree, TDIT. The only number that I decided to listen to prior to the film’s release was Facilier’s, and if all of the other songs are even half as compelling as this one, then I may have found a new favorite Disney musical score. As far as I’m concerned, “Friends on the Other Side” is definitely up there with the likes of “Be Prepared” and “Hellfire.” You’ve once again proved, Keith David, that you’re the man!
