I listened to those songs, and the only one I liked was She’s a Rainbow. I’m downloading it off iTunes as I type this. I put it in a mix on my iPod. It follows that Donavan song, Where Your Love Like Heaven. Those two songs back to back will equal to over seven minutes of bliss for me.
FAMILY GUY – I hate this show. Homer Simpson is SO much more endearing then Peter Griffin. And at least the humor on the Simpsons is part of the story, and not some referance to news media/celebrities that is mentioned for no reason at all.
JERSEY SHORE – So annoying. An insult to my proud state of New Jersey.
JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE – Why does this guy have to be such a self-centered egomanical jerk ?? All he ever does is brag and gloat about how talented he is.He has sexually assaulted Janet Jackson on national TV, slammed and dissed American Idol winner Taylor Hicks saying “he can’t carry a tune in a bucket” on both Ellen and Oprah, and can’t even sing really good. I always knew that Timberlake was a no-talent unimaginative cow. His carreer only survived after N’Sync becasue his pretty boy looks never faded and all of his songs are basically the same things that N’Sync used to sing about. Oh, and his acting is overrated. Face it, the only reason critics and fellow industry leaders give his movies good reviews is because Timberlake helped fill their box-office quota by dragging look-obbsessed shallow young females to the theatres. Yet for some reason everybody seems to pick on poor Britney and ignores this jerk.
I do not get or understand the popularity of these shows. Or Justin Timberlake.
somethingguy & IV: Haha, I knew you guys’d fall for my bait!
Well, to be honest, I don’t really hate pizza. It’s an okay food for me, this thread is about stuff which you feel is overrated and you can’t fathom why, and pizza is that for me. Personally, I think spag bol kicks pizza’s butt in terms of Italian cuisine!
Here’s more stuff I feel is overrated:
Alcohol in general - I like a bit now and then, but I don’t get understand how people can drink it on a daily basis.
Ren & Stimpy Show - Groundbreaking cartoon for its time, but unsuitable for kids.
Rocko’s Modern Life - Cruel to the main character without any redemption whatsoever.
CatDog - Ditto.
Fred - His voice is one big gimmick.
Equals Three - He’s funny, but he’s essentially the Internet version of ‘America’s Funniest Home Videos’, who doesn’t produce his own original content or at the very least, reconstituted mash-ups.
Facebook - The Internet’s black hole of time.
Glee - Pilot ep was amazing, but the biggest appeal to fans is their covers of classic songs. Why not sing original music instead?
3D mocap - Sometimes it works like in Avatar and Happy Feet. More often than not, it ends up in the Uncanny Valley.
I’ll think of more. If I have offended any fans, I would like to offer my apologies, and reiterate that it ain’t personal, merely my opinions.
The only things on both of your lists I may disagree with TDIT are pizza, Rocko’s Modern Life and CatDog, but apart from that I agree wholeheartedly and I can understand why you may not understand the praise/hype surrounding the three things I just mentioned, anyway.
My theory is people like to talk about themselves and think people watch their every move. They said that once on Criminal Minds. People just like to think they have an audience. I’ll even admit to it. But that’s just my opinion, and just one reason.
Okay, I know probably almost every single member out there will disagree with me here, but it has to be said. Coke AND Pepsi. I detest both of them. To me, they taste like they’ve gone flat, or had water dumped in them. I don’t get the whole thing. And the “Cola Wars” ? They taste the same to me. But again, just my humble opinion. We all like different things. And that’s good! Just stating what I think.
To be honest Violet Parr, I love both coke and Pepsi. I know that there is a debate between the two, but I honestly think that it’s either you like one or the other. no need for a debate.
I think that’s a good way to put it. Like I said, everybody’s got different tastes, and that’s great. I just tend to like the stronger stuff-- grape, root beer, Sprite, stuff like that.
Well, to be fair, I suggest you watch those shows (if your parents allow you, now that you’re older) and judge for yourself. I’ve experienced watching 'em as a kid and with grown-up eyes, and I still didn’t like them, so I have the ‘right’ to criticise since I’ve already given 'em a ‘fair go’.
Being a semi-avid Twitterer, I can say it’s the appeal of following the day-to-day life of your friends and celebrities. It is also like a super-efficient version of the daily newspaper, you can catch scoops and up-to-the-minute broadcasts of live events as they happen. Also, some people like to roleplay as their favourite characters from movies or TV shows, and they’ve even garnered fans (I should know, I’m RP-ing as two Rio characters right now!)
Haha, great cop show! My friend and I love the psycho-analsysis profiling thingamajig they do with criminals, it’s one of my ‘brain candy’ TV shows I like to watch (‘Eye candy’ shows for me are like Hawaii-Five-0 or MLP).
Re Coke and Pepsi, there’s a subtle difference down under. Coke is more fizzy, while Pepsi is more sugary. My friend who likes to watch Criminal Minds happens to be a huge Coke fan, he doesn’t go a day without having a can!
I’m not that familiar with how Facebook works, but isn’t Twitter a quicker way passing on opinions or talking about what your doing to your followers than it is to your friends through Facebook? If you have Twitter and somebody you follow sends a message, doesn’t it appear on your phone like a text message? I always thought that’s how it works and why it’s so popular.
I don’t understand why Superman is loved the way he is. I grew up watching the black and white Superman show. I’ve seen all the cartoons over the years, but I was never in love with the character. Amd as I got older, I started to think Superman was pretty lame. If there is no kryptonite, then there really is no danger in his encounters with enemies. It’s always bugged me how enemies will get caught doing something bad, then say, “hey, it’s Superman!” and pull out their guns and start firing. If they know who it is, they should know guns won’t work on him. I stopped paying attention to Superman stuff years ago. Maybe if I see or read some of the things that has to do with his “death” maybe my mind will change. Or maybe the upcoming movie will change my mind.
Hehe, it is a good show, TDIT. I like Reid. He’s cute in a geeky way. And interesting points. I guess you are right about the Colas. They are a little different. But I’ve never heard of Sarsi.
Texting. I text sometimes, but I’d much rather talk or e-mail or IM (Okay, I realize that’s almost the same thing, but I still like it better.). What’s the deal with Texting?
A lot of people, or at least women seem to like soaps. But I can’t STAND them. I think it’s because it really pushes my suspension of disbelief- I mean it’s trying to have ~realistic~ situations when I think if THAT sort of thing happened with such frequency most would wonder if there was something wrong with the place or people. (Which there is it seems). Affairs and murders galore. And I can’t ever it seems find a character I like. They’re… pretty much all horrible from what I remember from my last attempts. Also of course it’s not something you can just dip into anyway or you’re totally lost because of some random plot point from many episodes ago.
Big brother is also an awful, awful popular show which I can’t help but despise.
I also can’t stand certain game shows which rely on nothing but chance- I mean like that “Deal or No Deal” show, they make an entire show just using boxes and a telephone. Contestants don’t use brains or brawn and so winning is basically not a REAL achievement- the only real choice is whether you accept an offer or go on risking to lose it all. They don’t even use the skill it probably takes to bluff your way in a poker match when you have a lousy hand. There is NO skill to it! At all! And yet it’s amazingly popular! But it’s awful and utterly boring and its attempts at drama laughable.
I thought I was the only one who could never taste the difference!! I sometimes enjoy them if I just want a cold beverage, but I can almost never finish an entire soda. It’s too much carbonation for me.
