Yes it does! I mean, have you ever noticed this from their actions?
Like Merida prefers archery over marriage and is totally skilled at that. Or Colette is the toughest cook in the kitchen, as she herself claims to be. Or Celia has snakes in her hair and demands to know the truth.
I’m pretty sure Princess Atta would count for this sort of thing, don’t you think? And what about Elastigirl with her super-stretchy powers?
Check that, my favorite one would have to be EVE in general.
I noticed this a while ago, but if you put the Pixar films from Toy Story to Brave in chronological order, you could make a sort of “rainbow” pattern over them connecting each film with some sort of similarity. (I’ve included a visual aid as well.)
-Toy Story and Brave are already related because they’re the two chronological extremes, at least on this list.
-A Bug’s Life and Cars 2 are both seen as sub-par by most critics, but are underrated in the public eye.
-Toy Story 2 and Toy Story 3 are, obviously, both Toy Story sequels.
-Monsters, Inc. and Up are both Pete Docter-directed films.
-Finding Nemo and WALL-E are both Andrew Stanton-directed films.
-The Incredibles and Ratatouille are both Brad Bird-directed films.
This leaves Cars in the center, with nothing to connect with.
Oh my gosh! Those trends I have just started to notice!
I tell you, there are so many great reasons as to why this has got to be my favorite studio…
That’s a really cool connection, GNG! Though I wonder what would happen if we added MU to the list…
I’ve been watching WALL-E every night while hiding under the covers, but I just noticed in that one part where EVE is scanning the town (after arriving on Earth and flying, of course), when the camera shot appears to be high up off the ground, I can actually see for one brief moment what appears to be the face of M-O amongst the piles of trash…
Later on, when EVE is scanning the piles of tires, I can actually see a small orange-colored shape in the background on one of the shots (possibly one of the dead WALL-E’s?)
I noticed a few things while watching Finding Nemo the other day. Unfortunately, I can’t remember half of what I saw… except for the fact that Dory and Marlin’s eyes bug out in the most hilarious way when they see the anglerfish XD
I noticed something I think is really, really interesting while I was watching MU yesterday. It involves some major spoilers, though, so read on only if you’ve seen MU.
So if you’ve spent any time in the MI bonus material, you’ve probably seen the MI original story pitch. The story involves Johnson, our “Sulley”, a really awful scarer, and what happened when he let a young girl named Mary into the monster world. He couldn’t get her back to her world due to her closet door having a broken knob, so until then, she was disguised as a monster and hung out with Johnson. While Johnson was scaring, Mary takes a crack at scaring and proves herself to be really great at it. So the two team up and together start scaring their way to the top. However, in the midst of this, the doorknob is fixed and Mary can go home; Johnson chooses not to tell her, and they continue onward. But when the girl falls homesick, she runs off, and Johnson decides that she matters much more than any employee of the month plaque. Doesn’t that sound a bit like the climax in MU, when Sulley rigs the Scare Games to let Mike win, and then has to go after him when he escapes to the human world, leaving the trophy behind? I don’t know if it was intentional on Pixar’s part to weave a similar situation into MU, but it’s really cool all the same!
