Thinkway's Toy Story Collection

Though I’ve only seen two people post pics of the Jessie, they both seem to have paint errors on the eyes. The white overlaps the edges of her eyes. Hopefully that only plagues the earliest ones.

Yeah, I’m not going to make the same mistake I did with Woody, letting a bad eye paint application slip under the radar. with Woody if was because I let my mom pick it up for me, now I know to only trust myself when it comes to quality control, not everyone has the eye for it I guess.

But yeah, I’m not buying Jessie unless she passes the eye paint test, no matter how tempted I might be with the few they have in stock at the time. I’ll wait as long as a month, if I don’t see a near flawless eye paint app I’ll go ahead and cave.

Am I the only one that feels as if they didn’t style Jessie’s hair right? I mean, in the movie her hair is long and more swirled together.

You are certainly not the only one. When I get my Jessie I can already tell that I am going to attempt to restyle her hair, and probably braid it down further…and also try to sew a seam into her back that might make her a bit thinner in the waist. Hope I find her soon, I have been planning how to try and fix her for awhile now.

wampar: Lotso looks a little off to me. He should be bigger, eye level with Woody, but he looks more like Buzz size in that picture.

It could be Bryko because Lotso looks like he is sitting rather than standing. Even so, he still looks smaller overall than I was expecting.

Only problem with Lotso is that they forgot the velvelty nose. Still, the other materials look pretty good.

Going on a small vacation till Monday today, and I plan on stopping by the target and toysrus on the way there. They had utility belt Buzz last time so hopefully they will have Lotso, and there’s a low chance of finding Jessie. And I look forward to seeing how you guys make Jessie more accurate.

Yeah, he is a little smaller than he should be…but in person it doesn’t bother me at all. And a big part of it is that since he is a stuffed animal with no inner support it impossible to make him stand without wedging something between his legs to support him. I might do that in the future, but for the moment it doesn’t bug me.

And don’t anyone shoot me for this, but the more TSC toys that come along, and the more referencing I do for modifying my toys, the more I keep feeling that the TSC Woody is a little too tall.

Which version of Woody is that? The TSC one?

Yeah, that’s the toy story collection version. I swapped the stand for a standard doll stand because a) it doesn’t damage the neck over time, and b) I have my toys set up on carpet for the moment, and the stand he came with refuses to stabilize on the carpet.

Looking just at Buzz and Woody, Woody’s chin should start basically even with buzz’s upper eyelid.

But it clearly starts above Buzz’s head. It is probably less than an inch off, but because these items are mostly less than a foot tall, when trying to properly proportion things it makes a huge difference.

of course it is possible that I am just being way too nitpicky, especially for someone who is completely content with a six inch tall rocky.
And yes, in relation to the others Lotso is small…but still awesome.

Hey, wampar, sorry if this has been asked before, but how did you take off Buzz’s helmet? I think he looks great like that, but I don’t want to break the helmet in case I want to put it back on down the road.

I removed the screws from his back, I think there are four of them, and cracked him open. I had to do it fairly carefully because his electronic “guts” are crazy, and I wanted to be sure he would still work after I was done. Be very careful, his arms fell out when I did it. The removal of the helmet piece that opens and closes was easy. The back portion was a little more difficult to pop out, and at one point I thought I had cracked it…but luckily I had not. So I do have it still and can put it back if I want to. Be forewarned, the screws were a bit more tricky to remove on this than I expected them to be. And just over his wings there are fake screws sculpted into the plastic. Someone on one of the boards tried unscrewing them before realizing that they weren’t real and ended up damaging Buzz. That piece just pops off, leading to Buzz’s battery compartment…and giving easier access to the screws you will need to remove. I also pulled off his wings to make it easier…but they attached to his back with a safety wire because they are designed to pop off when pressure is put on them instead of them breaking.

Well, to be fair this isn’t the best shot to look at, since you cant see their feet. if you looked at the behind the scenes stuff for the first movie, or listened to the commentary, they talk about how they dug a drench for woody to walk in to be more eye level with Buzz in the “you are a toy!” scene, er, not really, since its digital, but its a common in film to cheat character’s height when it makes sense for the shot. this could be one of those shots.

So if you think the scale is off, fine, but try to use shots that have show them both with their feet in the shot, planted firmly on the ground, not off screen, because then it gets iffy.

As for Woody beeing too tall, I don’t see that… I mean, we already know he’s the tallest of the toys. and I actually thought we determinted he’s a bit too short. in his legs any way. seems like his lower legs needs a bit more length.

Agree for the most part, however, the length of his legs are fine. If you look closely, the difference is that TSC Wood’s legs are just a bit fatter, which is understandable (might’ve been too delicate to replicate for play/maybe when Woody was new, he had more stuffing in his legs).

I think it’s just optical illusions that they use in the movies to get Buzz and Woody to be similar height. Notice that Woody is always in back of Buzz. Besides, we don’t have a shot where Woody and Buzz are both standing straight up. Maybe that shot when Andy is holding Woody and Buzz at the end of Toy Story can be used for reference.

I think its a combonation of the two (the legs are both fatter and shorter). heres a pic I posted like, a hundred er so pages back.

From that pic, it looks like the seam is too low.

Yeah, Lotso is a little small. But i stand by saying that he is better in person.
