Thinkway's Toy Story Collection

I just came back the other day and got Chunk and Sparks. YES I finally got him! I do have to say though, it’s a shame that SParks doesn’t have an elevating waist or real sparks and Twitch doesn’t have his mace. This makes Chunk practically the ONLY one authentic material. He’s the only one who seems to have all the features and accuracy he needss to be the authentic Chunk. STILL YESSS MY HUNT IS FINALLY OVER !!! At least until anyone else comes out and that I get Jessie.

I’m really hoping Chunk,Twitch and Sparks come to the UK. I was only going to collect toys from Andy’s room. However, since seeing the trailers for Ken, I’ve gone and got myself an 83 version. I will now try and get the above and Lotso. Expensive but good times ahead.

Haven’t you noticed how thin Chunk’s face is? In the movie his face is much wider than on the toy version.

I’ve been wondering, do you guys think that John Lasseter will make videos talking about the newer TSC figures: Mr. Potato Head, Jessie, Bullseye, Lotso, Utility Belt Buzz? I think he should definitely do Mr. P because you can see him in the other videos…

Yes, I’m still wondering that also. Mr. Potato Head and Lotso are already out and he hasn’t made any new videos since he did Wave 1 of the collection. I’d like him to do more, but it could be possible that he’s done making them.

i think john lasseter should make those videos because it would promote the new toys and encourage collecters to buy them

It was an obvious plus for Thinkway to get Lasseter to promote the wave 1 collection. However, I can’t see him returning for a second time. The collection has been out awhile now so there’s less need to raise awareness. The film will do the work now. All collectors will be aware and most parents/kids will find them in most toy shops. The proof is right here. Wave 3 is already a discussion on this forum.

That is what I’m thinking as well. I loved his promo videos when the line was first starting, but there is plenty of momentum going forward to keep interest up, at least through the rest of the year, when you factor in the theatrical release this month, the DVD/Blu-ray release in the fall, and then the Holiday shopping season.

i’d also really enjoy seeing some new videos like that.

and off topic here is a pic of my potato head and buzz [url]Twitpic ps. i know its the wrong buzz for this shot…

LOL, I wanted to do that with my Buzz but I didn’t think I would be able to get him to hold him up like that. I’m kind of surprised that you did.

I’m really torn about the Twitch, Chunk and Sparks right now. Should I go ahead and order from the Disney Store site at their too-high prices, or is there a chance that these will actually show up in Target and TRU?

I would have thought they would already be there by now, but there is no sign anywhere.

I actually wonder that too. I kept thinking they would show up at TRU or even TRU online, but not yet. I figured most movie stuff was out since its opening within 2 weeks and TRU usually has a head start with huge displays stocking everything. Maybe they’ll hit after, but I dont know. Maybe other retailers chose not to carry them?
I just know at TRU they’ll be $20-$25, which is why I’m waiting. $30, is still very much worth it, but not for me at this point in time.

wait a little bit longer, if their not there go online.
who here is getting the TS collection jessie and bullseye

I’ll probably get Jessie and Bullseye, but I know they’re going to be separate releases so I won’t be able to get them both at the same time. My main reason for being interested in TSC Jessie is because she has real yarn hair. I couldn’t stand the cheaper versions cause of how the hair is all hard plastic. And I’d want Bullseye cause, as Buzz would put it, what’s a cowboy without his horse? (he says hat in the film, but you get my point).

The cheaper version at one point did have yarn hair, I saw one at TRU about 8 months ago or so. Havent seen many online, but they do exist.

Hello!!

I’m a newbie but have been collecting Toy Story collectables for years. At the moment I have:

  • 1995 Hamm Thinkway piggy bank
  • TSC Woody
  • TSC Aliens
  • TSC Rex
  • TSC Mr Potato Head
  • Mattel Jessie

Really need to get a Buzz Lightyear!! I was wondering if the Disney Store Hamm is worth buying? I was hoping Thinkway would eventually release their version as the prototype looked amazing! Im hoping this one will come out eventually?

I would say the Disney Store one is most definitely worth buying. You’d be surprised how big it is compared to the '95 Thinkway one you have. I myself was hoping that Thinkway would release the one from that picture, but it became more and more obvious that they probably wouldn’t… but the Disney Store one is a nice substitute. In fact, it’s near perfect. The only “problem” with it at all is the fact that Hamm’s head is tilted instead of straight, but when set up posed with the other TSC toys, I actually like that. And for only $20, you can’t really beat it.

If Thinkway ever did release their version of Hamm, you can be sure that you’d be paying top dollar (probably $30 - $40) because it would most likely have electronics and a certificate. If John Ratzenberger’s voice is a must for you, then holding out for a possible Thinkway Hamm might be worth it, but honestly, it probably wouldn’t be worth the extra you’d have to pay to get it.

So, basically, all I’m saying is YES the Hamm is well worth it. In fact, it’s probably the figure I’m most happy to have gotten so far. (And on that note, I was in the Disney Store in Grapevine, TX last weekend and they had 12 of them… so I have to assume there are other Disney Stores with large supplies of them as well.)

Ok thanks for your help! I wish Thinkway would release more non-electronic toys tbh. Everything seems to have to be electronic to warrant a place in the Toy Story Collection, which means neglecting characters like Hamm and Slinky that just wouldnt be practical. I think a Toy Story Collection Hamm with John Ratzenbergers voice would be cool but i agree with you that it would be a waste of money giving the cost of TSC items. A non-electronic version would be more practical. I hope they start to introduce more characters into the TSC that arent electronic so that we finally see characters like Hamm, Slinky, Bo Peep, Wheezy etc…

My collection up to this point with all the collection pieces:

Very nice! Where did you find the frames for your COAs?
