Thinkway's Toy Story Collection

The Polish for Buzz is not available in retail stores?

I’m sure it is, but I’ve never looked for it, so I can’t suggest where to buy it.

Correct. And RoboDad is correct, acetone will work best, using a QTip to apply it with. Do NOT soak the qtip and get sloppy, a little acetone is all you will need.

So where can i get this acetone?

Almost any department store sells pure acetone in the paints (home/spray) center, or in the nail polish aisle. Or get the nail polish with acetone as the base chemical, which I believe is cheaper than straight acetone.

Thanks a bunch. I’m guessing nail polish remover = acetone?

For the most part yes, not all removers have acetone though, but if it does it usually the first ingredient listed if its not labeled on the front.

I used nail polish remover for Woody. So far it got rid of minor errors but there are still some noticable stains. It did however get rid of these wierd grey blotches on Mr. Potato head’s eyes.

A quick note for Aussie collectors:

K-Mart’s toy sale starts today (including their $49.00 Thinkway Buzz, Woody, Bullseye, Rex and Lotso figures) and I was able to purchase my selected items over the phone using a credit card for collection later today.

This might be an option for those worried about missing out if (like me) they cannot get to a K-Mart until after work. I would also note that Target’s toy sale which starts on 22 July 2010 includes Thinkway Woody, Jessie and Lotso for $49.00 so if you miss out on Woody or Lotso at K-Mart there will be another opportunity to grab those figures.

Finally found the Bullseye’s in stock here in Toledo today. Two of the three had issues with wrinkles and a crooked mouth section. Happy to finally get one and without the defects.

Yes, I am…
Mmm, I think I’ll do what you suggested, buy Rex and LayBy Buzz… I’ll go for most expensive downwards… if that makes any sense

Haha, I’m sorry LittleGreenMen… ummmm… Everyone can call me TLGM if it helps…

Its ok, really it is i was just saying we have similar icons and similar names.
So no need to apologize TLGM

Hey Guys,
Just hacked my Mr Potato Head to make his legs shorter, like a lot of you did. Wasn’t actually that hard to do, as long as you have some mechanical engineering skills and handy work.
Here’s a comparison of him Before

and After

Even though I initially thought his leg length wouldn’t make a difference, up close though it really makes a huge different. I’m really really pleased with the results and I’ll be posting a tutorial topic later on tonight for all of you who are interested.

Is that as short as you can go for him to still be able to function? Either way, great job, looks natural.

'Ol Spud Head does look much better with those shortened legs. It’s nice to see a good clean head-on view of the changes.

But I have to say, those eyes have yet to grow on me. I didn’t like them before and I still hate them now. Surely they could have made them look better then that and still be one piece. It almost looks like they’re looking in different directions! I can’t stand them!

Those eyes and the price are the two primary things keeping me from getting a Potato Head for myself.

Thanks Dinoco! Well, I could have made them shorter but I wanted to make them to be able to function with the electronics and everything.

Yeah, Toodles, I agree with you the eyes really do bug me as well. Well, perhaps TylerHasslet will post a tutorial, hopefully, on how to make your own.

I really hope Hasbro pull through and actually make their Mr P “look like the movie” and have short legs and 2 eyes…

Hopefully it has separate shoes, without the visible “legs”, but they can’t do separate eyes cause of choking concerns. Hopefully they stick with the two holes though.

The only tutorial to make your own eyes that I know of is to grab some clay and have at it. Honestly. I do what I do fulltime and learned everything by diving right in head first using the mentality of “other human beings can do that, why cant I”.
And the things I didnt learn from trail and error, I learned soley on the internet at places like www.theeffectslab.com which can help in learning different materials, their uses, their properties, etc.
