II got the TSC woody a week or two ago and i must say besides a few “extra bits of plastic” on the face it’s truly a great figure
Sadly though it’s arm has a rip in it but it won’t be too hard to fix (though the arm has more movement when some of the stitches are out)
for now i can at least say it goes along with the second movie
I don’t know if anyone has attempted this, but I wonder if Thinkway would send a replacement Certificate of Authenticity?
When I bought my TSC Jessie, I had to search for quite awhile until I found one that was (to me) of a perfect quality, but when I got her home and took her out of the box, I found that her CoA had apparently been bent on one corner when packaged. It’s pretty bad… completely dog-earred, and I was planning on emailing Thinkway to see if I sent mine in, would they send a replacement.
I was just wondering if anyone else has attempted this and what was the result?
(I honestly don’t know how much I really care… I think the certificates are cool, but I’m not displaying them… They’re just all grouped together and sitting in a drawer where they will probably stay forever… It’s just the pricipal of the thing, you know.)
The certificates are meaningless to me. COA’s are meant to dispute any claims of being counterfeit, right? would anyone refute your claim that your mass produced flawed in some way (lets be honest here, none are perfect) toy is authentic?
I’d only want a COA if I was getting a truely rare item. A screen used prop or something. preferably one with a real signature, not photocopy.
I’ve been thinking about contacting Thinkway as well. My Sheriff’s vest was sewn on completly crooked, making one side look way longer than the other. I originally thought that his vest was made that way, but it’s just attached weird. But when I was looking at the vest, I noticed several places on it where threads have been pulled, like they got caught on something… only he came out of the box this way.
My biggest concern when I was first looking at him in the box was his eyes, and his eyes are nearly flawless. But after looking at Woody in several different lightings, he’s got many, many silver paint marks on him. Most particularly on his hat (it’s almost like it was misted in silver paint) and a gold mark on his cheek. But I can always get paint off, but I can’t un-pull the threads.
I’ve heard of other members getting everything from sticker sheets, to full arms… so I figured it was worth a shot. But Thinkway does have lists of accessories they have for “Replacement Parts” but they seem to be going the extra mile for TSC customers.
I totally aggree, Kyle. I think that they are nice to have, but the really have no purpose. It’s not like they are numbered, and every one of them has some sort of problem. But they do look pretty nice with a set of them together.
And one thing that was really nice that I wasn’t expecting, when I was messing with Woody’s vest, I noticed that his “Cow” spots on it are almost identical to the on-screen version, which is rare for mass-market.
Well, I basically modified the Arms, Shoes, and Eyes. I went to DownTown Disney, and got a box of Accessories for Potato Head. For those who don’t know, at Downtown Disney, and some of the parks (don’t want to mislead, and i’m not sure of which ones) they have stations where you can stuff a box with the Plastic Spud, and as many accesories as you can, and as long as you can close the box it’s $19. Since I had my old Potato Head, I just stuffed the box with accessories, which I used to make these.
ARMS
-For the arms I used a spare set I got from Downtown Disney, and cut of the hands, and about a half inch from the pegs. I had some old wire, so I cut it to the right length, and took the insides out, so that it was just the rubber coating. then I put wires inside, and super glued the hands and cut down the arm after the peg to fit inside the tube. Bendy arms, removable.
SHOES
-I used the only “Sneaker” shoes I had which are red instead of blue, and I carefully cut down the middle line that connects them. I used a spare part from a random piece for the peg, and I glued that and the peg that was originally on the shoes to create two individual feet. Then, I drilled holes into the bottom of the Plastic body to fit the pegs.
EYES
-The trickiest of all, I had the same eyes they use for the Official “Toy Story Potato Head” but I had to re-paint his eyelids. I carefully cut out the peg, and separated the eyes, and trimmed the edges a bit. I then sculpted the missing rim of the eyes with Sculpy clay, and heated it up with a hairdryer to bake the clay, and so they eyes wouldn’t melt. Then I painted the eyes to sort of cover up the additions, but it didn’t really work. I sculpted some eyebrows out of black sculpy and glued them to the eyes. Then, the same way as with the shoes, I glued the original peg to one, and a new one to the other, and I drilled two holes. The original hole was filled with the same clay.
Oh, also the hat is not the official Derby, but the hat off of the Official Potato Head Back Massager. I found it at a garage sale a few years ago, and decided that the hat would look better with the eyebrows.
Sorry for such a long post, but I figured that the best way to explain it would kind of be a tutorial.
I know someone else might have asked this, but I’ll ask anyway.
If you have both Buzz Lightyear replicas from the TSC (original and utility belt), I want to know if the utility belt one is really worth getting. I know I will definitely get the original one, but I’m not sure about the UB. If I do get the UB, I only want it if I have the original as well. Can anyone help me?
I dont own him but i have tried him out before. The belt versions “personality” seems different than the original version so in addition to the belt, he will sound slightly different. Overall, if you have the money and dont have anything else to spend it on, belt buzz is an ok option!
Does anyone have an idea where I can find a Thinkway Bullseye (either $30 or $50 version) in New York City? My girlfriend and I are dying to get one! Thanks!
Don’t get me wrong, my world won’t come undone if I don’t get a replacement one. They really would only have any real importance if these were limited edition, individually numbered collectibles rather than just expensive toys that do all (as you’ve said) have some flaws. It’s just that as soon as I saw it come out of the package bent, I was all, “Well that sucks”, even I know I haven’t looked at any of my other certificates on my other TSC characters since opening them.
I did see someone on here that was putting them in cases and using them as part of their Toy Story display, but that idea went away for me when I got my Bucket O’ Soldiers and the size of their CoA was off compared to the others.
So, you’re right… it’s really no big deal, I was just wondering if anyone had even attempted it. If I could get one that not all bent up without any real hassel, I’d take it, even if it is just going to sit in a shelf with the others until my dying day.
Lone Star, actually, I’m still waiting for a reply to my request for a replacement Aliens CoA, as mine got completely lost. So I’ll let you know how it turns out.
Hi guys, im new here, I was hoping someone could help me with my Toy Story Collection Woody, I just got him yesterday and he looks great and works in most respects… its just when hes in “play” mode he just says “whooahh” “oh brother would you keep it down” “oh yeah that was loud” “wahoo simmer down no need to be so loud partner!” over and over and over and over again without me talkin to him or anything and he wil say these things repeatedly in a quite empty room, is there any way I could fix him you know of or is he just busted forever and in need of replacement. As I said in play mode thats all i have ever heard him say, hopefully you guys have some suggestions, resetting or something I dunno… well thanks anyway
