Interesting topic, MindO3ric; I’m kind of torn between having a movie-accurate porcelain lamp and a safe-for-play doll. I guess as long as they make her as realistic as possible and include her sheep, I’m good!
My Buttercup just came in the mail he is amazing… I don’t get the complaints about opening his box it was pretty simple. Now I just need Rex and UB Buzz.
I have just received an email from thinkway toys saying “We have not stopped making these items.(TSC ones) However, not each of our products is available in the market because consumer demand may limit the number of items the retailers would like to carry.”
So no need to buy the overprice toys from the retailers they are just cutting their supply so they can make prices much higher
I just don’t think Bo Peep is important enough to thinkway for them to release her with all of the features everyone wants. It wouldnt be cheap to make them and also make them part of a lamp base. She was a supporting character and eventually was written out completely and the one they did release did poorly for them. I just can’t see them making her again, especially not to collectors expectations.
I actually Agree with you I dont think they will release her. BUT if they did make her I think it would be cool to have her in the lamp base but that you can take her off and “snap” her back in.
That’d be the ideal way to do it. But I think i the line were continuing, we should be expecting more relevant characters like trixie, zurg, maybe prospector(i think his main reason for having a decent chance is he is a main villain and completes the roundup gang), and characters along those lines. While there are technically a lot of unmade toys, i dont think heres that many that thinkway would view as financially viable. I’d personally love a Robot, but I dont think it will ever be made by thinkway.
“Consumer demand” implies that they’re not selling very well so retailers are limiting how many they order in, not that they’re ordering limited numbers with the express purpose of inflating their prices.
If the TSC line isn’t selling well anymore, that could also explain the new ‘signature collection’ logo - advertising the toys to collectors rather than children. I’ve heard more than my fair share of complaints from parents while I stalk the aisles of Target about how expensive the TSC toys are compared to the Mattel ones - perhaps the new branding will more easily distinguish between TSC and the other versions of the toys.
Anyway, my Lotso arrived today! I’ve never noticed it before, but I like how Thinkway made it so he looks more like the character than the toy - the white of his fur is faded to grey and the whole thing has a kid of ‘old toy’ vibe about it.
I also ordered a Chunk from Amazon for only around $40 (shipping included), so I’m on the lookout for Twitch and Sparks for around the same price. I also won a Chatter Telephone auction on eBay for $25ish, and from the pictures, it looks incredibly well-preserved - the stickers are still on it, the wooden base isn’t chipped and the paint hasn’t rubbed off. I’ve been in a few bidding wars for some Jolly Chimps, but towards the end of the auctions there’s always someone who keeps bidding against me and raising the price over $80.
I’ll get the TSC Buzz when Zurg is released, as well as a Tour Guide Barbie so the two of them plus my already-owned Belted Buzz can be there to represent TS2. I also need an RC!
I guess that after that all I can do is hope for Thinkway to surprise us with a wave 4, because by then I’ll have collected all the characters I really want!
You won’t be disappointed with Chunk he looks amazing the only thing I hate about him is the rattling sound he makes. Sparks is also amazing so try to pick him up soon as for Twitch I can’t say since I don’t own him yet.
If anyone wants a utility belt buzz the original box give me a message would happily sell it to u. I have a few left. Not looking to make profit just selling them at cost but p&p is bit expensive. Let me know
What? Are discussing the price of the dolls? Sorry, but just so you know, here in Brazil the dolls cost over R$ 300.
Also, here in Brazil, the only collection that arrived were:
Hmm slightly concerned with the new signature collection, the new boxes will look slightly out of place with my others if they release new toys, so does that mean i should get all the new signature collection and sell the old? I’m not sure yet but i imagine if i decide to sell them in decades to come and they release more toys under the new collection surely people would prefer them than the older collection range?
Though i am happy about the possibility if new toys but i’d just rather have all my toys with the same boxes.
