I’m so confused!! Could someone please do me a HUGE favor? I want to know the the heights of the main cast from the movie as well as the heights of there respective Toy Story Collection figures. I have Rex, Aliens, Army men and Mr.P. So I know their measurements (figure wize) But how tall are the Buzz , Woody, Bullseye, and Jessie figures? And how tall are the following according to the movie?
Woody
Buzz
Jessie
Bullseye
Mr.P
Aliens
Hamm
Slinky
Rex
Bo Peep
Barbie
Your not going to get a real measurement of the in movie models because its an animated film. Meaning their sizes can change from shot to shot. because the model doesnt exist in the real world, they are how ever big pixar claims they are. and the toy story collection reflects that scale. So however big each character in the toy story collection is how big they are supposed to be in the movie.
I can assure you that all toys released in the TSC have the same measurements as the ones in the movie. They took it from the original data files, so it’s 100% when it comes to proportions (although Mr. Potato Head might be a little off when it comes to height because of his leg pegs). I know John Lasseter said Buzz is based on G.I. Joe, so that means he should be around 12 inches. I have the Woody, and he’s around 16 inches (Jessie should be similar, but we’ll get the official height when the TSC version comes out). Barbie is the normal height of a Barbie doll, I’m sure someone here can give you the measurements. Slinky is probably similar to the original Slinky toy (yet again, I do not have it), but since modifications have been made for the movie, it might not be exact. Bo appears to be about 13 inches when compared to Buzz.
That’s an obvious fake, just look how how pixelated barbie is.
And dinoco, 3d models do not have any size information with them, its all relative. they have to scale them to a a size that looks right with each scene.
There had to be someone supervising that these get to be the right sizes. Otherwise, it couldn’t really be a replica. Even if it’s not exact, it’s gotta be close.
Right, that’s what I’m saying though, it requires someone to eyeball it basically. because that info is not in the data files like you were implying.
They decide on a scale and try to follow it, but a lot of times they don’t at all. the desk in toy story was said to be the size of a football field in one scene. Each Balloon in UP were about the size of Carl in many shots. Size is a very abstract thing in animation. If they do their job these cheats go unnoticed, but they don’t stick to their scale at all. So its kinda impossible for the TSC to be completely to scale. just a rough estimation.
I haven’t thought of that, though I think that might not be possible, most of its graphics appeared to be pre rendered, meaning cardboard cutouts not real models you can manipulate.
For anyone confused as to what we’re talking about, me and Tyler Hasslet are going to try and make our own Hamm to scale since thinkway doesn’t seem to be doing it any time soon. I’m going to give him my unfinished model of hamm, and he’ll have to printed in 3D, and he’ll take that and make a cast of it, and finish sculpting the parts I left out (mainly his legs). I’m trying tp polish my unfinished Hamm though to make sure its as accurate as I can get it before sending it off to be printed in 3d.
I got Buzz yesterday, and he is AMAZING. There’s not much to say that hasn’t been said, but they really did a great job with Buzz, especially compared to the old one. My only problem is that on mine there’s a small blue paint blemish on his eyebrow, but it’s not a huge deal. I’m gonna try to buy Woody and Bullseyeas well in the future.
Found the new TSC Mr. Potato Head last night at the Toys R Us in Wichita Falls, TX, so my collection of the toys that have been released is complete. Now I’ve got to wait on them to get Jessie and Bullseye on the shelves. (I’m not buying the Bonus-belt Buzz… I only want the toys from Andy’s room.)
They had four of them (three now), so if anyone who wants him lives close enough to Wichita Falls, he’s in stock. Thought I’d give a heads up.
