I thought Corpse Bride was okay - a good flick but not something I’d pay 9 bucks to see in
theaters. Y’know?
BTW isn’t Tim Burton woking on something at Pixar?

That’s the rumor, and I am so excited beyond words. To see Tim doing a film
with Pixar would be amazing. I was vibrating off my computer chair when I first heard the news! Haha!
So if the rumor is true and Tim Burton does work on
something at Pixar, would it be clay or computer animated?
I don’t think this rumor is true. Why would Tim Burton do a movie at Pixar ?
And he already have a lot of projects.
But why not? You take a brilliant filmmaker like Tim Burton, add the greatest
animaition studioes, you are bound to get something magical.
The Star Swordsman -
Exactly. This is going to be really something. He has connections with John Lasseter, Brad Bird, and Joe Ranft,
so why not? Joe actually was one of the executive producers on Corpse Bride, so that
means something. And if you get the Burton on Burton Revised Edition interveiw book,
as I have, you’ll hear Tim talking about Pixar at the begining of the Corpse Bride
section.
Here’s what he had to say…
"It’s funny, people talk about computers, but it’s
really based on Pixar- they’re the ones. And basically it’s because they make good movies. I don’t think it’s
just the medium, it’s not computers per se, it’s because Pixar makes great movies that people want to see. I
went to school with a lot of those guys, John (Lasseter) and Brad (Bird). They’re artists, and they’ve kept on
trying to be innovative and do something slightly different. And I think they do it better. I’m not a big fan of
most computer animation because I find a lot of it unappealing-looking. At least with Pixar they know how to be
charming, and their character design is a bit more appealing then some of the other companies. But that’s just
personal taste."
From what I am getting, the only animation he would want
to work on is clay-like animation.
Tim Burton is an amazing man. With what he creates is just so scary that it’s
astounding…
Recently played a game called Psychonauts, about playing as a psychic who battles in
people’s minds.
Personally, I don’t think the bravest of minds would survive a venture into Tim Burton’s
creative genius.
I think there is a chance Tim Burton is
working with Pixar on something. Tim did go to school with some of the Pixar staff at CalArts like
Bill quoted.
I don’t know if you guys already read about when Oogie visited
Pixar. Some Pixar animators went up to him and mentioned something in the works with Tim Burton. I think that’s
where the rumor started.
If you didnt read the blog yet, type in oogie goes to
pixar on google.
Kingdom
Hearts had OogieBoogie in all it’s games so far. I’m sure Tim Burton has talked with both Disney and Pixar in
borrowing his classic.
Tim Burton rocks. I love stop-motion animation. It’s
something I’ll never have the patience to do but it’s a pleasure to watch.
As far as animation with him- he
did do regular 2-D for shadows he makes in his films, and it flows quite nicely. But I don’t know about 3-D
animation … he’s very loyal to stop-motion.
That would be cool if he works some ideas into a Pixar
film. He’s dark, but he always has a certain sense of humor. It’ll also be cool to see a musical with Pixar,
even if it might sorta go back to Disney’s style … he writes good lyrics- or is that Danny Elfman? Anyways,
the lyrics in his films are always witty and cool … bleh, in short I’d like to see him work on a project with
Pixar.
I don’t like the look of that – something must have gone seriously wrong. ![]()
Nope –
I’m still not a Tim Burton fan. My sister, on the other hand, just announced that she is an official geek of his
films. I must admit that Mr. Burton’s works are quite intriguing; however, they’re just not my style. Until he
makes another one that captures my attention, Corpse Bride is the only one that I
have taken a fancy to.
One Tim Burton film that I’m really looking forward to seeing is
Ed Wood. I don’t think it’s going to surpass Charlie and the
Chocolate Factory in terms of quality (that’s why the latter is so high up in my list of favorite
films), but judging by the trailer and praise from critics and audiences alike (e.g., one of IMDb’s Top 250
films, Martin Landau’s Best Supporting Actor Oscar win for portraying Bela Lugosi, Roger Ebert giving it 3.5/4
stars, etc.), I have a really good feeling that I will like it.
Speaking of the Sweeney
Todd poster, I have to say that I’m somewhat disappointed. I mean, the poster makes me think that
the movie will be really violent (unless that red dye smeared over the poster isn’t
blood). Not that violence has never been depicted in movies before, but the poster makes me feel as though the
movie will disturb me more so than it would make me… well… like it.
If
your’e not familliar with what Sweeney Todd is about, then it probably will be
dissapointing. My advice is look up the musical, then you’ll understand.
I actually know that it’s about a
murderous barber, so I certainly expect it to be gory/violent to a certain extent. The thing is that the poster
makes me feel as though it would be too gory and disturbing.
Obviously, I
really can’t judge a movie by its poster. In fact, even the premise isn’t enough to give me the right to judge
a movie if I haven’t seen it. I can really only judge it after I watch it. After all, there have been movies
with brilliant premises that turned out to be very disappointing (e.g., The English
Patient - there are others, but this is the one that disappointed me the most by far), and there
have been movies with mediocre premises that turned out to be absolute masterpieces (e.g.,
Babe, Babe: Pig in the City, Batman
Begins, A Few Good Men, etc.).
Ed Wood is one of my favourite films of all time, I absolutely love it ![]()
though in the book Burton on Burton he’s pretty disdainful of CGI, I don’t think it’s his cup of tea
XD
I haven’t seen Ed Wood yet.
How good is it?
I think it’s great, you don’t have to
be even slightly familiar with the real Ed Wood to enjoy it, though there’s plenty of homage there too – it’s
got some great lines in it, and some awesome imagery – there’s a spook house in it that is probably my
favourite set in anything ever ![]()
Having said that, my parents hated it – to each their own, I
guess! Johnny Depp and Martin Landau are very good together, though, and somehow it manages to be funny without
being a mockery.
My sister showed this to me
yesterday…

Seriously, I hate “The Nightmare Before Christmas”,
but this was just too funny not to share. I almost wet my pants laughing… ![]()
