I cannot wait! This looks so good!
Oh. MY. Heck. I wanna see this so friggin’ bad! The picture of Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter is so awesome!
I can only say this: For those who know me well here, I’m a huge fan of Tim’s and have been for many years. And also, like many others, I’ve been waiting for him to do an adaptation of Alice in Wonderland. I myself had been dreaming up a stop-motion version that he could possibly direct, and it was two years ago that I got my wish of an Alice in Wonderland film. I have since been keeping tabs on the project, and they have cast the film perfectly. Given the fact that it’s a live-action/performance capture film with stop-motion added in is extremely intriguing. I certainly look forward to the release of the film March 5th of next year.
The official website has opened:
Gosh, I don’t think it is humanely possible for somebody to be as excited for this film as I am. I’m counting down the days! (253)
Alan Rickman is the Caterpillar?
woody - Trust me, I am just as excited for this film as you. I may not be counting down the days until the release, but my anticipation is unmatched, I think.
This seems like the perfect film for me…and I LOVE the book. Let’s hope Disney doesn’t try to restrain Mr. Burton.
I’m not going to go to the website. It will totally, well, you know how I stay away from ANYTHING that’s dubbed “scary”. Even if someone says “This is a little scary” or “kinda scary”, I don’t look at it, and the Mad Hatter is FREAKY. It’ll, I bet, play the theme. That song used to scare me, still kinda does. And since that is one of the only pictures that came out, it’ll, I just know it, show that picture. So, no, I am NOT going to the site.
Looks pretty interesting. I must say I’m intrigued by Johnny Depp’s portrayal of the Mad Hatter. I loved Helena Bonham Carter as Bellatrix from Harry Potter and I think a doctor in Terminator Salvation (and I haven’t seen her in Sweeney Todd), not to mention Anne Hathaway’s in it, too. Relative newcomer from Oz, Mia Wasikowska (really unique last name, BTW) gets the titular role as Alice herself. And of course, how could you go wrong with Mr. Burton?
This is going to be one serious mind-screw.
That website is REALLY stupid. It just shows the hat and a clock ticking. BORING!
EDIT: The trailer will be before G-Force.
The official Disney website is now active with a little more Concept Art and a Gallery!
I top it off with the poster…
Okay, this is looking pretty cool, I have to say. I do like Tim Burton’s style but I worried that it might be a bit of an overload in this film…But now I’m not worried about that at all because it looks like it’s going to be very good either way! And, although I’m not exactly a fan of Johnny Depp, I think he’ll make a great Mad Hatter.
The cast list is phenomenal:
Mia Wasikowska … Alice Kingsley
Johnny Depp … The Mad Hatter
Helena Bonham Carter … The Red Queen
Alan Rickman … The Caterpillar
Michael Sheen … The White Rabbit
Anne Hathaway … The White Queen
Stephen Fry … The Cheshire Cat
Crispin Glover … The Knave of Hearts
Christopher Lee … The Jabberwock
Timothy Spall … The Bloodhound
Paul Whitehouse … The March Hare
Matt Lucas … Tweedledee / Tweedledum
Real bit of British flair in this movie… and a bit of Welsh!
The prospect of Stephen Fry as the Cheshire Cat is cool, but so is Christopher Lee as the Jabberwock… although I did imagine one of the two as a narrator to the movie, with Fry as my favourite!
When I first looked at the cast list I worried about how when you get a movie with this number of stars, they don’t work. It’s now slowly disappeared, and ever so slowly, looking at those pictures and the prospect of a trailer on Thursday/Friday… hopefully, it will disappear!
Well, cool that it’s getting a lot of Brit actors, seeing Mr. Carroll himself was English to begin with…
I suspect that the disloyal subjects of the Mad Hatter will have the most supporters, only because his army’s name sounds the coolest and he will have the ‘Joker’ effect of The Dark Knight with Johnny Depp being quirky and all that…
I checked the official site, I love the concept art, but I found it a little disturbing and creepy, not the fantastical kind of Coraline (Henry Selick) or Corpse Bride kind of creepy, but just creepy, creepy. Has anyone played the video game Alice? I didn’t, because I got freaked out by the box cover alone as a kid, but it kind of reminded me of that (minus the blood-stained cleaver, of course).
I’m not terribly excited to be honest, since I didn’t like the original Disney cartoon and the original book itself as a kid, seeing it’s just one scary nightmare poor Alice has to escape from and the characters were just freaky. But maybe my preconceived notions will change once I see the released trailer.
Whoa! I’m so pumped up to see G-Force now (not like I wasn’t before ). The Alice trailer, the Toy Story double feature trailer, and the rumored inclusion of a trailer for Prince of Persia! All of these new pictures are getting me extremely excited for this one!
I really loved Tim Burton’s take on Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, which had a lot more of a sinister subtext to it than the past version. It’s pretty obvious that he’s going to do the same for Alice in Wonderland, with the naughty but nice theme running through, so I’ll definitely being seeing this movie next year.
I remember seeing the poster for this movie in my movie theater and I said to my group “That is just creepy”. Then they pointed out that it was Disney. And now that I know that it’s Tim Burton, I guess I’ll look forword to seeing it, but it still looks rather creepy, especially the Mad Hatter.
That’s beautiful, I love it!
“Some say to survive it, you need to be as mad as a hatter, which, luckily, I am.”
OH, MY GOSH! This couldn’t be any better! I’m looking forward to it in 3-D.
