Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland

I now cannot wait!

It’s brightened my depressed and pained mood!

Depp looks fantastic… and so does both Cheshire Cat and White Rabbit!

Agreed! I especially like how even though it’s being described as a sequel to Walt Disney’s original classic, Tim didn’t stay so true to those characters. Especially the Cheshire Cat! I’m so glad for once he looks like a real cat! Johnny Depp makes one heck of a quote! I love it! <3

AHHHH! Disney is pulling YouTube links and places with the trailer! GAWD!

Stupid Disney…

Still up over at First Showing!

I can’t wait to hear more news about this after the 3-D panel at Comic-Con tomorrow!

Just saw the trailer. Looks a bit whimsical, a touch disturbing, and a whole lot of adventure!

The Cheshire Cat and the Red Queen really give me the willies, but I like the White Rabbit, The Knave of Hearts (Crispin Glover) and Mr. Depp, as none other than the Mad Hatter himself. I think M.H. in particular may have that quirky charisma as The Joker, Willy Wonka or Jack Sparrow had, so we’ll see.

I didn’t like Mia’s portrayal of Alice in the trailer so far, she seems to pout and look angry a lot, but I guess it’s too early to tell if she’ll be a strong heroine yet.

The ending of the trailer also felt rushed and didn’t quite leave that awesome ‘kick’ at the end of most trailers. I don’t know, just didn’t work for me. But I am intrigued, and my curiosity has piqued somewhat. I hope this is just the teaser and a more substantial trailer will be shown down the line.

Wait, so this is a continuation from the earlier animated film? Because it looks to me from the trailer that it is following the original storyline (although, like you mentioned, there are some changes).

Awesome trailer! The Cheshire Cat, especially, looks terrifically creepy, and Depp not only looks like the Mad Hatter should, but also sounds like him. Dude’s out of his mind. :stuck_out_tongue:

Going through these posts and looking at everything is making me excited!

The trailer is amazing!

I agree! Hope he’s as great as he seems!

There’s been one comment continually mentioned by my friends…

“How can you see Stephen Fry as The Cheshire Cat?”

The gently spoken Brit (voice of Qi, the Harry Potter listening books, Little Big Planet, Blackadder) just doesn’t fit with the persona of the character the trailer!

We’ll just have to wait and see!

I think that perfectly fits the Cheshire Cat. The cat seems very sensible with it’s insanity. It’s not some noisy laughing maniac.

Just to let everyone know, this film is NOT a sequel or remake of Disney’s 1951 animated film.

So far this does seem that Tim is making a sequel, rather than another take on Alice in Wonderland.

I’ve found the trailer in HD:

Sweet! Looks even better in High Definition!

I guess they’re going with a creepy approach? I dunno. It looks cool. I just hope they stay near the storyline.

The books? The plot isn’t from the books.

From IMDB
“The traditional tale has been freshened with a blast of girl power, courtesy of writer Linda Woolverton (Beauty and the Beast). Alice, 17, attends a party at a Victorian estate only to find she is about to be proposed to in front of hundreds of snooty society types. Off she runs, following a white rabbit into a hole and ending up in Wonderland, a place she visited 10 years before yet doesn’t remember.”

Yeah, I also hear that Tim didn’t like all the other Alice in Wonderland movies because he thought they were all just events that were mashed together; he wanted his movie version to actually have a story in which you care for the characters. Here’s a plot summary of the video game from Stitch Kingdom which is supposed to closely follow the movie : [spoil]Alice in Wonderland for Wii™, Nintendo DS™ and Windows-based PC takes players on a topsy-turvy and immersive journey in Wonderland as Alice finds herself in a world of illusion and magic where nothing is quite like it seems. Alongside her endearing friends – Mad Hatter, March Hare, Cheshire Cat and White Rabbit – players aid Alice to defeat the Red Queen and Jabberwock.[/spoil]

[spoil]I’m wondering what all the Wonderland talk is about.[/spoil]

I was just saying, I hope parents don’t bring in their eight year old little princess girls thinking it’s gonna be a fantasyland fairytale. It looks like it’ll be more edgy than the movie we remember. I’ll probably see it, I’d like it better than the girly one. I know the book wasn’t as Disney as the cartoon.

Just by the one trailer, I don’t think young girls will be into it.
Everything looks creepy. :open_mouth:

Whew. I thought I was gonna get gung up. Yeah, the mad-hatter looked creepier than cooky. It’ll probably be a refreshing take on the movie for the older viewers.

Oh yeah, this version looks like it will be a big hit among older viewers because of it’s madness. And it’s Burton. I don’t think it could be potentially better if anyone else was doing it.
