Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland

Kind of movie-related…I found this video of a “Tea Party” at a Las Vegas convention. It’s to show off fashion + jewelry inspired by the movie. I like that tagline “Alice is the New Black” - lol. Thought it was a fun thing to share!

Cool find, CoCoMeister! Flash mobs are cool for their utter spontaneity! Wonder when it’ll be on sale to the public?

The film’s aesthetics remind me of the disturbing-looking Alice video game, although gamer reviews have been singing praises for it… anyone got the same vibe as me, or is it just me?

Not that I don’t like this Disney version, if anything, I’m glad they’re not taking the ‘violent route’, although like Coraline, it may not be suitable for squeamish rugrats…

This movie is theater quality in my opinion, I’ll definitely be going to see this in theaters. Once again, Tim Burton makes Johnny Depp look awesome.

Or…Johnny Depp makes Tim Burton looks awesome? Those two are like a match made in creative movie-making heaven!

thedriveintheatre - I think the fashion/jewelry line will be available in the spring (part of the seasonal fashion trend, I suppose), but also around the time movie comes out.

I cannot wait for this movie! I hope Tim Burton pushes his style to the limits and we are presented with a wonderfully abstract, Burtonified sequel to the last film. The characters are so imaginative, and I am a fan of the cast list. Even though Burton has a long history of casting Johnny Depp, I am never disappointed when I see the two working together. (:

Either way, I like the way their work clashes. Tim Burton + Johnny Depp usually makes for a pretty slick movie.

Which is almost all of Burtons films.

Agreed! I love Burton’s quirky style and Depp’s quirky characters - definitely make a great team. I read an interview a bit ago - meant to post it here earlier - with Tim Burton talking about the movie and his style. Good read if any of you are interested:

A new trailer came out after last night’s Scream Awards:

Not anything too new, but another chance to feast your eyes upon Tim Burton’s wonderland.

I saw that trailer yesterday, I thought is was kind of stupid how they just remixed scenes from the first one.

Yeah, I was hoping there would be more new footage, other than that bit of the Mad Hatter - but I still like seeing Tim Burton’s world in motion  I gotta say, though, the Scream Awards voters got it right - it is definitely my most anticipated fantasy film!

Oh, it was awarded that? That seems very appropriate after the online excitement when the trailer was released. :stuck_out_tongue:

Yup - http://justjared.buzznet.com/2009/10/18/jessica-alba-scream-awards-johnny-depp/l - and makes total sense. I mean, it’s still, what, 5 months out and seems like everybody has known about it for a while. March seems so far away!

My theater released their VERY first issue of there movie magazine. They had a section for Alice in Wonderland, and they had a caterpillar picture!

Lucky! I really want to see what he looks like!
CoCoMeister - I know! It feels like it’s taking forever!

Is anybody on here a fan of the Mad Hatter on Facebook? If so, then you’ve probably seen the pretty amazing posters/images that he’s been posting. But, if not, take a look:

A glimpse at all the characters of Wonderland!

CoCoMeister - Can someone say new wallpaper? That stuff is amazing!

I finally got my hands on a copy of Alice in Wonderland, and it’s old. I’ll see if I could post pictures of it, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it was one sold in the early days. :stuck_out_tongue:

Anyone want to do a book “club” before the movie? Heheh…

I gotta say, I never liked the original Alice because I thought it was kinda silly, and I never liked Alice as a character, anyway (on a technical note, I didnt like her voice at all, either). But the trailer for the Burton version does look interesting. Doesn’t mean I plan to see it yet, but it does spark a little interest.

I know - I kept checking back on Facebook to see the next piece they would reveal! You guys should definitely try to “friend” themor follow them on Twitter to see all the cool stuff they post… I’m such an addict, it’s just the easiest way for me to keep up. :stuck_out_tongue:

As for the book club…that actually sounds like a good idea! I haven’t actually read Alice in ages…only saw the movies! Might be a good idea to have a little refresher of AIW, Through the Looking Glass & “Jabberwocky” before March.

I’m a big Tim Burton fan, so I definitely can’t wait for this.

TheDoctor - Since you are a Tim Burton fan, did you know that there’s a Tim Burton retrospective at the Museum of Modern Art in NYC? That’s saying something about his creativity and vision if MoMA has a whole exhibit dedicated to him! Judging from that awesome image of all the Alice characters, he most definitely has not lost his touch with this movie.
