Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland

“Jabberwocky”? I’ve never heard of that before… Google But I’m glad you see it as a great idea.

Any other takers?

And, thanks for the links. I’ve added them to Twitter.

I was planning on doing the same thing, my friend. I really love the books, and I haven’t had the chance to read them in quite a while…

I agree, I really look up to him because I can’t draw very well and in what I’ve heard about him, neither could him. :unamused: He and I both aspired to be animators. Go figure!

So a book club, then?

Also, I think they might be showing a new trailer sometime soon - according to the Mad Hatter’s Facebook page, he’s hinting at the exact date!

Cool. So, we’re up to three.

Would we want to start in January?

EDIT: I found a .pdf of the book. If anyone needs it, send me a PM.

New trailer!

And, WOW! Love the colors and all the characters - this is going to look super awesome in 3D. You also get a little more glimpse into the story - and [spoil]yup, she comes back TO Wonderland after a while, and has to battle the Red Queen[/spoil].

Enjoy!

YES! This has totally made my week.

Being such a Burton fan, I’m looking forward to seeing this film beyond a shadow of a doubt. I’ve loved all of Burton’s films, with my favorite being The Nightmare Before Christmas. It’s totally awsome to see that Disney is letting Burton do this film. I’ve even bought an Alice in Wonderland-themed shirt and earrings from HT. I can’t wait. :sunglasses:

OMG! They already have merchandise at Hot Topic! I’m going tomorrow!

Yep, they had started selling merchandise a little while ago. They got some really great shirts, too.

Oh! I knew they had a fashion-inspired line coming out, but didn’t know there was a bunch of fun stuff in stores NOW! I checked out HT’s website and the movie’s style does lend itself well to some pretty cool t-shirts and artwork - adding something to my list of Christmas presents! Bet Tim Burton never would’ve guessed that he’d have a whole exhibit about him at MoMA and fashion inspired by his artistic vision!

You know, looking back at how he started out, probably not. I’m sure he’s not the only one, there are famous people who I’m sure if they knew how their life would turn out or what they would inspire before it happened, they probably wouldn’t believe it. Speaking of the T-shirt, It has one of my favorite characters on it, the Cheshire Cat. Maybe the next time I’m there, I’ll try getting one with the Mad Hatter!

It looks visually stunning. Finally understood from the trailer that its sort of an ‘Alice returns to Wonderland’, which is somewhat of a relief, in my opinion. The cast looks appropriately wacky. One to watch!

Just a heads up, guys - they’re going to be showing a bunch of “First Look” TV spots for this in the coming weeks, as well as an ad during the Super Bowl.

The exact schedule is here, and an ad here.

Well, Disney have screwed up majorly with this one - Disney faces cinema boycott of Alice in Wonderland over DVD row. I hope Disney back down as my local cinema is a Cineworld and they are part of the boycott, so if Cineworld decide not to show the film, then I’m not able to see it, really (without travelling quite some distance, anyway).

It’s a shame because I saw a 3D trailer of this film yesterday, and it does look pretty amazing! I love the visual style of it.

Really? All of this over how long a theater will have a movie…this is just ridiculous. While I may not keep track of how long a movie stays in theaters here, where I live, movies that aren’t as popular do stay in theaters shorter due to the fact of that unpopularity…I hope things work out soon.

I had read the other day that Odeon reversed its stance and will now be showing it (they had better, the film premiered at Odeon in Leicester Square yesterday). I hope that there’s one near you so you can watch!

The Hollywood Reporter gave it a pretty glowing review:

I’m doubly excited to see it…I REALLY hope my European friends get to do the same!

Oh, that’s wonderful. I can’t wait for this to hit theaters. I’m certainly seeing it in 3-D, or at least I want to. Speaking of which, I’m awaiting my Alice LDD’s in the mail - looking forward to their arrival…

CoCoMeister - Oh, that’s some very good news! Unfortunately there isn’t an Odeon near me (that’s what you get for living in the sticks), so it really does all hinge on whether Cineworld agrees to show it in my case. But this is a good start!

And thanks for posting the review as well. I’m loving the sound of this more and more.

Haha, yeah, I read about the Odean debacle. Isn’t it better news for fans if the DVD does come out early though?

It opens tomorrow in Sydney. I’m not terribly excited, and I’ve already forgotten the trailer having watched it a few weeks ago, so I’ll be going in without any anticipation or preconceptions. Most likely my friends will ask me to see it this weekend, but otherwise I would’ve skipped this. But then again, I might be surprised. We’ll see.

thedriveintheatre- It’s better news for the fans if the DVD is released early, but I guess the cinemas aren’t happy because they think they’re not going to make money, though the whole point of this in the first place is that with a short stint in the cinema, people will go and see it more quickly so the cinemas should, in theory, make the same amount of money anyway.
