Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland

I hope you get to see it, lizardgirl! I feel like most theaters did turn around on the boycott, but can’t remember if Cineworld did for sure…I agree - I feel like if people want to see the movie, they’ll see it within the first three months. There’s no point in keeping it any longer, IMO.

I’m going to a screening tomorrow night, I’m so excited! I’ve been waiting for this movie for so long it seems…at least, since the teaser appeared at Comic-Con last summer. I’ll post my review once I’ve seen it.

Thanks CoCoMeister, and it seems that Cineworld did change its mind so hopefully I should be seeing it sometime next week! Hope you enjoy the film tomorrow.

Alice in Wonderland: 1 hr. 49 min. (PG), for fantasy action/violence involving scary images and situations, and for a smoking caterpillar

Not gonna lie, I busted out laughing when I read the rating.

Thoughts?

Talk about a random disclaimer. No doubt the anti-smoking lobby had a say in this. I mean, James Bond can’t light up anymore cos’ it’s a bad example for kids…

Puh-leeze. :unamused:

I know. Everything’s political now.

Oh, and everyone, the movie is FANTASTIC.
I went to a midnight showing.

Too tired to write some review right now. :stuck_out_tongue:

But you’re going to love it.

I’ve got to agree with the thewisecookiesheet - the movie is pretty amazing. I went to a screening last night. It’s very Tim Burton-esque - no doubt you’re watching his movie - it was weird and wonderful, and most definitely visually arresting. My favorite was the Cheshire Cat - looked SO cool, floating around with his big smile and smooth voice (Stephen Fry). I thought the performances were great as well - especially the two queens. As for the story, it’s definitely not the Alice you’ll remember (it’s a sequel, as you all know) but I think it does pay good homage to the original and keeps many of the same weirdness and spirit of the original. Overall, it was a really enjoyable movie!

CoCo summed it up pretty well. No doubt it’s Burton’s work.

Although I felt that it was like having a really great dream, but only being able to explain the end of it. It was all so good, that none of it made sense when you tried to speak it, but in your head it made all the sense in the world.

Favorite character? Probably the Dormouse, the Hatter, Alice, the Red Queen, or the Cheshire Cat. Pretty much any of the main cast. :stuck_out_tongue:

I’ll probably see it at least two more times this weekend.

Wow. That’s some pretty rave reviews. I’ll see if I can catch it on Cheap Tuesday.

Alice broke all kinds of box office records this weekend!

So. best opening for Tim Burton ever, best opening weekend in March ever, best 3D opening for a film ever (it beat Avatar), and best IMAX opening weekend ever! Congrats to Disney smd Tim Burton!

I saw Alice last weekend. I thought it was really good! I mean, I don’t know if it lived up to all of it’s expectations, but I thought it was really good. Would I buy it on DVD? personally, no. I don’t know if I’d want to watch it again.
