Toy Story 3 Character Countdown

You’re right, I guess I just meant that the new main characters (from Sunnyside) were most likely bad guys, judging by the gambling scene and what we already know about Lotso.

Another character new via Lee Unkrich’s twitter!
They keep getting better and better

Sparks the robot is now on the site.

I’m really starting to see a pattern with the names of the toy gang:

Stretch
Twitch
Sparks
Chunk

Now there’s only three more characters left to be revealed.

Just wanted to post an updated version of the TS3 character reveal sheet:

Wow, I guess Pixar is really making us wait for Mr. Pricklepants, the Chatter Phone, Crunch, and the “Purple Haired Doll” (of whom we still do not have a full name). I feel like I’m 7 and desperately anticipating for the next week’s Happy Meal toy.

WOOT Two at the same time! Meet Mr. Pricklepants and Dolly!!!

Finally! I’m really glad they decided to release these two characters together. I love the detail on the fur spikes for Mr. Pricklepants (he does look like Winnie the Pooh). And I’m glad we finally know the name of the doll as Dolly (not completely original, but I don’t care). I guess this answers my question about homemade toys coming to life- she herself is company manufactured but her clothes can be homemade.

All in all, New Toys! We almost have the entire character sheet filled.

YAY! An official unveiling of Mr. Pricklepants! I admit, ever since his mini-intro back in December, I’ve been in love with the cuddly little guy, even if he IS a hedgehog, lol

Found the descriptions as well:

Finally! The lederhosen-wearing, amateur-thespian, hedge-pig! I’ve been excited since I heard that funny name last year, and even more recently when I discovered Tim D will be voicing him. I do wonder if he’s a ‘Stinky Pete’ in disguise, though…

Dolly also looks adorable. I don’t quite know how she sounds like or who’s her voice actor (she has a woeful amount of screen time in the trailer), but she looks ‘harmless’ enough.

The thing that amazes me is, like Pixar Builder said, the amount of attention to detail. My brother once had a Beanie-Baby (back when they were the rage) that was a lion cub and it had the same ‘hair-texture’ as Mr Pricklepants (soft and short). You can almost feel the fur ‘villi’ on his paws and his felt hat, or the hessian skin and bead eyes of Dolly. Kudos to the Texture Department (if there’s such a thing!).

I know, the texture of the toys in Toy Story 3 is amazing! When I first saw the high resolution pic of Lotso, my draw dropped at how realistic his fur looked. I’m glad they decided to add in so many plush toys this time, as opposed to the mainly plastic toys in the first two.

Dolly might well be my all time favorite new character in the film, just based on the character sheet alone. She’s voiced by Bonnie Hunt (same voice as Sally from Cars) and she reminds me of a much cuter version of Sally from TNBC. I absolutely adore the DIY quality to her, and I hope she plays a good role in the film.

My prediction is that a lot of the new ones will pretty much get the shaft. from impressions Ive read, they were left wanting more screen time with many of the newer characters. I think Dolly Buttercup and Prickle pants will be among those. Their role might be a key part of the movie, but we wont really get to know them.

I think its also telling that these characters dont have animations on the official site. t

yeah I read that they didn’t have a big part in the film either, sadly. Oh well, they are still my favorite new characters (along with Peas and Stretch) that PIXAR has given us. I just hope that Dolly and Pricklepants get to star in the new Blu Ray short.

I think that Sully from Monster Inc probably had a hand in this. The texture of him was amazing and since him we have seen alot more furry characters since then. Correct me if I’m wrong buut I remember hearing that Pixar had to develope new software to create the fur.

I too reckon no matter how ambitious Pixar may be, they will never be able to devote as much screentime the fans would like to the new characters. Hopefully if a sequel gets made down the road (which would make it a quadrilogy Die Hard or Aliens style), the newbies will get their chance to shine.

And if they do go down the Cars Toons routes, I guess there will be many more opportunities to come (In fact, I have a very strong suspicion this might become a possibility… they’re not going to let those assets go to waste after all).

Fur is no longer a big deal anymore. it can still be tricky to animate it when it gets long like Violet, but even that is just about having to babysit it during animation.

Look what I found on Youtube prematurely.

I suppose he’ll be revealed in a couple of hours. Considering there’s only 2 more dates left on the TS3 site, I think we’ll also get another character besides Chunk today and then 2 more next week.

EDIT: Official reveal:

Meet the Chatter Phone as well:

Awww, I kinda like Chunk, hehe! He’s like this big bulking creature but he’s got such a big smile on his face! I love it! As for Chatter Phone…I remember having one when I was a kid…I guess a lot of people did!

It’s looking like quite a cast of toys we’ve got there

So now it is just the Book Worm and I’m guessing the Baby. The siluette looks like the one that put Potato Head in the sand pit.

The last two got leaked already! Say hello to Big Baby and Bookworm.

Big Baby reminds me of Jaws from James Bond (when he was a villain not a stupid hero from the end of ‘Moonraker’), towers over the rest and is apparently silent (like Jaws) as i’ve heard in reviews. And I love the Jaws character so this look sgood. :sunglasses:

Here’s basically what the final poster should look like:
