23 more days!!!
Yes! Here’s an online countdown clock I created for just such a momentous occasion:
[url]Countdown Clock
Just under two months to go! Very exciting. It’s released over here just two days before one of my best friend’s birthdays, so hopefully a bunch of us can go and see it together as a birthday thing.
What’s anyone elses plans for when Toy Story 3 is released?
I’m definately not seeing this one with friends. I missed the entire Toy Story Double Feature because plans went wrong (probably never will get to see it). Which is why I’m going opening night when it opens by me, end of story.
I plan to see it June 18th in 2D at my local mall. then another 2 times in 3D at a later late; once in Imax, another in that same mall as the 2d one I mentioned. I want to see the 2d one to eliminate any distractions caused by 3d (even though I’m a big fan of the technology). I want to see it in IMAX because its the first Pixar one to get a release there. and Ive never seen a 3d movie in IMAX. and the standard sized 3D viewing is because sometimes IMAX is just too big for its own good, makes it sometimes distracting because your looking at all that amazing detail up close.
So seeing it 3 times like this will get me the best of everything.
I already have 2 free tickets from the Toy Story blu rays, and if I get enough Kellogg’s boxes I might be able to pay for the third. of course, I’ll have to pay the difference as these are only good for up to 8 dollars, but it should still save me quite a bit.
Oh that sounds like so much fun!
Last year for Up I organized a group of kids to take the T into Boston to this really nice theater for the premier, the second school got out. I made it my facebook status and invited anyone to come! It was great.
I’m thinking of doing that again this year. I can legaly drive people now though, so I might drive over to the nearest IMAX theater to see TS3 on the big screen. Perhaps though an adventure into Boston would be better… I’ll see what the consensus with mis amigos is.
I agree with that. I’m also going to the 2-D first, just for old time’s sake, since that’s how I’m used to seeing them. Then 3-D, and then IMAX (I’m not missing out on THAT).
My opening weekend plan:
Friday - Regular 3D, either alone or with a friend
Saturday - Not totally shore, but possibly once more, 2D
Sunday - IMAX 3D, with dad
Then I wanna see it at least 2 more times afterward.
I can’t wait!!!
My plans:
18th- 12:00 am showing~ with mom and brother ; and an afternoon showing ~ with dad and friends.
About a week after- Normal showing with whole family.
I have a summer soccer game on the 18th (worst. timing. EVER.) so I’m unable to see it then. However, I entirely plan on going the 19th (and me and my best friend are gonna have a little Toy Story marathon of the first 2 before we go), and then again whenever my family goes, again in IMAX with my grandparents and bestie, and after that just whenever I get the chance!
Can’t wait to see this on 3D IMAX!!!
I’m very pleased that Australia’s releasing TS3 right in the Winter Break, when I woud’ve finished my course and be enjoying my holidays. I can probably make opening day or even a midnight showing if I can convince my friends… usually Pixar movies bow in September, when we would be right in the thick of mid-sem assessments, so the timing this year… is just perfect for me.
29 Days to Go!
Nice plans, everyone! Boy, you’ve all really thought this through…I hadn’t thought about the whole 3D thing, but I guess my plan will be to watch it at least twice in the cinema, once in 3D (most likely with my friends and on opening day) and once in 2D (most likely with my mother perhaps a week or two later).
I’d love to see it in IMAX, but I’ve no idea where the closest IMAX cinema actually is to where I live. Plus I’m guessing it’s a bit more expensive than usual 3D?
…
Okay, I’ve just done some research and apparently the closest IMAX is in London, an hour and a half away. I could convince my dad that we need to visit my grandparents, but that also it would be a good idea to go to the cinema at the same time…Is it really worth the hassle going to see a film in IMAX? Is it really an amazing experience?
See it in 2D first, and if it’s as amazing as it’s supposed to be (which it will be ), I think it would be worth it.
lizardgirl: I don’t really think Toy Story looks like it warrants an IMAX viewing, it looks to me there’s not any Epic Shots that deserve the ‘ginormous’ screen treatment yet. I had a fantastic experience with ‘How to Train Your Dragon’ and ‘The Dark Knight’, as they both had jawdropping panoramic shots that truly deserve to be seen on the biggest screen possible (and I knew this from a prior viewing in conventional theatres). So you’ll have to weigh if seeing a daycare center on a five-storey screen merits the extra pricey surcharge.
To be frank, I’m actually quite disappointed Wall-E and Up didn’t get the IMAX treatment… Of course, I may be underestimating TS3, and there’s no problem giving extra money to support Pixar’s box-office performance… I think Dinoco’s tip is good advice.
I’m goning to see it first day with my friends in IMAX. I will then probably see is several more times.
Well, I think IMAX may enhance things from a toy’s point of view as well. Looking at the train scenes, as well as when Buzz is jumping around the Daycare, it may just work (although those are also just good 3D examples as well).
No epic shots? what about the opening imagination shots? the vast dessert and such? If this were the other two toy stories I’d see your point. even on standard sized screens with the double feature, the lack of detail was more evident than home video releases while on a huge screen (compared to a tv) but that was do in part from its age. They put a lot more detail in these days. Im sure they’ll make it worth it, even when its not your typical “epic” areal views or cities, your still going to get some explosions, chase sequence, etc that will make great use of the IMAX screens. even the smaller stuff will let you see all kinds of scrathes and scuff marks that really add to the sense of scale. How it would feel to be toy sized yourself.
But I’ll let you guys know what I think after Ive seen all 3 versions. They’ll all have their pros and cons I’m sure.
Of course, I did say I hope to be proven wrong. I’ll prob see this in conventional cinemas before I make the IMAX call.
I can not believe we are days away!!! Joined this group back in 2008 with anticipation…and now the day is practically here
