The more I hear about the Toy Box mode, the more I’m loving it.
EDIT: It looks like the “bandit” is actually the Gunslinger Boss from the Toy Story 2 video game, and the construction foreman resembles the Blacksmith Boss. Sid’s influence is also confirmed at this point. Wow, I’m almost as hyped for this game as I am for the actual movie. I just hope they still dedicate the same quality to the story mode.
I wish they would show some of the Wii version. The fact that their keeping quiet about it doesn’t bode well. They seem to be pushing the ps3 version most.
A while back I asked animator @jaynewk on twitter who’s on the project if he’s seen the wii version, this was his response.
“I’ve not played the wii version but I’ve seen it. I’m not sure I can divulge much more than that.”
To that I said that wording kinda had me worried it would be the subpar stepchild.
His response was
“My response shouldn’t have u worried. I just don’t know how much I can say…I’m sure u understand”
To which I expressed being cautiously optimistic, That the wii version had potential to be just as good as the other versions if enough effort went into it.
After that he followed me. So guess think he’s waiting to see what I think of it once it comes out.
I suppose I could take heart in the fact that while I’ve seen nothing of the Wii, I can say the same of the 360 version too.
heres some screens from the ds version via ign.com http://media.ds.ign.com/media/061/061764/imgs_1.html
I like that ‘Memories’ one.
alright i got the toy story 3 official movie magazine and in it there is a two page preview of the game the good news is it has tips for the game…the bad news it has tips for every version of the game, except the wii version… this gives me some doughts about it.
Aww, thats not good.
By the way has anyone heard anything about the PC version? I haven’t heard the developers talk about it much. I’m assuming it’s gonna be based on the Wii version, but if it’s the same as the 360 version, I might buy it.
interesting interview lots of new gameplay footage and some more insight on the wii version http://www.gametrailers.com/video/e3-2010-toy-story-3/100622
Only 9 levels in Story Mode? I hope that doesn’t make it too short (even when I know I’m going to be spending most of my time in Toy Box Mode). I know a lot of people complain that games released on the Wii are aimed at a younger demographic, but I’m not too surprised since Nintendo consoles are more family friendly with Mario and everything.
And seeing Jessie fighting on Zurg’s planet: Cool!
Maybe I’m looking at it wrong, but his comments felt like a bit of a slap in the face…“We kinda felt like with the wii we’re dealing with a different demographic”. translation: “we’re dumbing it down for the kiddies, you know because the wii is for kids, no adult plays that system”.
Bleh! there was all this talk about making it more kid friendly, using terms like “simplifying” to make it sound better.
Really wish I still had a Ps3 in the house.
The wii shouldn’t have been handled any differently than the ps3 version in terms of demo. The toy story franchise is loved by people of all ages, the games should reflect that, for all consoles. The only differences should be technical limitations from lack of horsepower. The scope would have to to be brought down, but the overall game should be the same.
From the looks of the ps3 version, the game would feel right at home on the wii. Jessie even has Mario’s wall jumping move in there.
I know this is off-topic, but when the video game for Ghostbusters was released on the Wii they changed the graphics from being realistic like on the other systems to more cartoonish. Same thing, basically.
Its different when your adapting a realistic franchise though. they had more of a reason to change that. The wii cant do realistic humans as convincingly, so they tried to work with that. However, toy story is already not very realistic, there shouldn’t be any reason to change anything.
And I don’t see them changing the graphic style here anyway, just the gameplay.
but I guess I should prepare for the worst… maybe the characters will look like the buddy packs that’s are out?
It’s disappointing to hear that the Wii version is basically dumbed-down (probably for the so-called “casual” crowd) but I was never really planning to get that version anyway.
If the PC version turns out to be a decent facsimile to the 360/PS3 version, that’s the one I’ll get, otherwise I’ll get the 360 version.
I am curious about the DS version, too. I’m first and foremost a handheld gamer anyway, so I’d love to see a good Toy Story game on the DS. The screenshots don’t exactly look super impressive, but it’s hard to tell. I have no idea what it plays like. I’m hoping that the platforming (if there is any on the DS) resembles the TS2 game for PlayStation, because I’m quite fond of that game!
