TOY STORY 4 Might Be Happening !!!

I wrote an article on this! adventuresinhypergraphia.blogspo

What a coincidence, I was reading it!

I don’t know what it would possibly be about. They just got a new owner, and I’m really happy with how it ended.

I like sequels, but I’d rather see new movies than 500 sequels on one movie.

Exactly. I think YouUnculturedSwine put what I thought about it. It would be just another adventure about the toys.

The way the TS3 ended was perfect! It really way they dont have to change it.

We’re all assuming it’s a sequel. For all we know, it’s a spin off. shrugs

Yeah but Shrek 1 was decent in the box office 2 was a bit better. Now look at Shrek :-\

Its’ a good article no doubt, but the problem is that you’re saying you don’t know what people are getting upset over. Personally, this is the first time I’ve ever wanted Pixar to not make a film, and I’ve been here since the first one, seeing all of them at least once and loving each of the characters and stories in their own ways. Toy Story was my absolute favorite movie as a child, and I must’ve watched it several hundred times. Toy Story 2 then came out and I loved that one too, but leaving that movie, even as a kid, I thought, “Man, they just introduced several new toys, and Andy hasn’t even gotten a real chance to play with them, they should probably make a sequel for that.” Obviously as a kid my logic was flawed, as that alone would not be a basis enough for a story, and once Pixar and Disney had that falling out my hopes for a sequel faded completely. But then Disney bought Pixar, and Toy Story 3 was announced, and I was excited again. And, at 18 years old, having just graduated from high school, I went to see the midnight premiere of TS3 in IMAX 3D, after driving an hour to the nearest IMAX, and I cried like a baby at the end. I saw the movie 3 more times in the next two days alone, and have seen it several times once we got the DVD set. I’m one of the biggest Toy Story fans out there, at least to my knowledge, and I absolutely do not want them to make a Toy Story 4. I like the idea of the shorts, because they are just that, short, sweet little tidbits of time where we get to see the new characters in action with our favorites. We already got the “playtime” my younger self would have wanted at the end of TS3, when Andy and Bonnie are playing with all of the toys. And at the end, Andy and Woody said goodbye to each other, and I think that that was the best, most perfect ending they could have ever created.

Anyways, back to my main point. I’m worried about them making a sequel, because to me it would destroy the emotional ending the previous film had, where it was the true end to the trilogy, and there wasn’t any reason for there to be another film. We can keep getting the shorts here and there to show us how they’re all getting along in their new home, but does there really need to be another film? What story could they possibly come up with that wouldn’t be a rehashing of something we’ve already seen the toys do with Andy? And what about Andy, he is part of what made Toy Story so relatable and real for me, and for millions of others. I grew up the same as Andy, and I was leaving for college at almost exactly the same time, and I have all kinds of toys that I collect and unlike most I still play with them every now and then, so that really hit home for me because I was having to figure out what to do with them. Part of why the third one made so much money was because it was the end, and it was such a fitting ending that people wanted to see it multiple times. The only way I would ever say that they should make another TS film would be because we might be able to get the rest of the Toy Story Collection figures we’ve wanted to be released with the support of another movie, but that’s a petty reason to me, even though I do desperately want the “Wave 3” that just about everyone else has listed on other threads in this site.

So, bottom line, no matter what story they find for this film, and no matter how incredibly awesome the film may end up being, I don’t want it because it will take away from the fact that Toy Story 3 was the end and it will diminish the emotional impact those final scenes had on the audience. I love these toys to death, even as I look around my room and see them, but to do another film would be an incredible disservice to them, to Pixar, to the audience, and to us, the people who loved these toys so much from the beginning and still have an emotional connection to them now.

Sorry I didnt have time to read the whole thing but I agree with the last parragraph.

We don’t even know that’s it’s gonna be a sequel! It could be a spin off, or a prequel with Bonnie’s toys! I see no logic in half the fandom already dismissing a film we know nothing about!

I hope it’s NOT like that. Bonnie’s cast is a strong set of characters, but I don’t think they could even come close to capturing an audience like Andy’s. Plus, a sequel/spinoff will still hurt the reputation of perfect films the Toy Story franchise has. IMO, Cars 2 should be a spinoff, and it’s really hurt the Cars franchise and put a spot in Pixar’s streak because they called it Cars 2. For a “Toy Story 4”, or “Toy Story” anything, people are gonna expect it to be just like the others, with all the emotion, style, and humor. Even if it’s a great spinoff, it will probably be poorly received because it’s not like the others.

I think they’re just messing with us :smiling_imp:

But seriously. Toy Story 4? No thank you!

Oh, there is. I suppose both sides have very valid reasons.

^Agreeded

Not to sound dumb, but what is the difference between a spin-off and a sequel. In other words, what is a spin-off?

An spin-off is basically a work that derivates from another, but not the main storyline, as in a full fledged sequel, just some characters or sub-plot.

Cool, thanks! That makes sense!

I wouldn’t be too fond of a spin-off, it seems like the backup option if there are no good ideas out there.
Now a prequel I would be interested, possibly detailing Woody’s past owner (presumably Andy’s dad) and ending with him being passed on to Andy, similar to how Bonnie received the toys at the end of TS3.
Sadly, that will probably never happen, as they’ll almost definitely feel the need to throw Buzz in there because he’s more popular with younger kids.

Whoever made this forum seems like they wanted a forth one  .

I wouldnt like any kind of forth one; Sequal, Prequal, or Spin Off.

That was such an awkward interview. He brushed off that comment really quickly, very suspicious. It makes me wonder if Pixar’s heads are upset that Tom said what he said.
