Well, I couldn’t find any posts about Toy Story Mania, so I guess after all this time, I’ll start it. Anyways, I just read an extremely interesting and in depth article from the New York Times on the topic of Toy Story Mania. It not only detailed the construction and creative process behind it, but how it came to be and how Pixar (and John Lasseter’s) involvement in it affected the over all attaraction coming soon to Disney’s Hollywood Studios Florida, and Disney’s California Adventure. It’s very long, at 5 pages, but definitely worth your time.

P.S.- Mods: I tried submitting this article to you through the Contact Us button but it directs me to an otherwise blank page that says: That kind of language is not allowed through our form. Obviously I double checked if I had used any profanity, which I hadn’t, so I posted what I wrote above. Strange…
Not only will there be Toy Story Mania, but a whole section of the park for it to be in… PIXAR PLACE!!

By the way, I’ve read Pixar Place is mainly a meet and greet area, but besides that theres TSM.
A113- It’s just a street name, at Disney/MGM Studios (now Disney’s Hollywood Studios) the places are named like streets for example, Sunset Boulevard, Mickey Avenue, Animation Courtyard, Hollywood Boulevard and New York Street, so Pixar Place makes sence. I think it fits the theme rather well.
I just went on this ride, Toy Story (Midway) Mania is awesome, I loved seeing the characters again, and Pixar place was so cool.
BTW when you get off of the ride there’s a huge book of [spoil]Tin Toy[/spoil]!!
Martini, you rode it!! So tell me, was ita a thrill ride or more like an arcade? Was it easy to play the games? Was it competitive? How did the 3-D nature of the ride affect you? In other words, please spoil me with spoilers and milk this subject to death!
I’m actually in Orlando right now and don’t have too much time so I’ll write about it briefly. Well, the queue is really well themed, you really feel like you are in Andy’s room. Mr. Potato Head is reallly cool, epsecially when he takes off his ear. Well, the ride is an arcade shooter and it’s got to be the best ever, it’s really easy to get into, but challenging at the same time! There are about 5 themed midway games with “4D” effects which are stunning. BTW it’s in the style of Buzz Lightyear without the annoying laser, and it’s all virtual. I give it a 9/10!
OH my goodness, I can’t wait to ride it. I think I saw a video of its grand opening on youtube somewhere in Disney’s California Adventure, but I don’t remember.
Weeeeell, I just got back from Disney World and I rode it too! I really liked it a lot. It is similar to the Buzz Lightyear ride, except I could actually tell where I was shooting! The Potato Head audio-animatronic does look really advanced, compared to some of their older ones. (that’s not putting them down though! His eyes are computer imaged so that gives him more expression. the games were challenging, yet not so hard that you couldnt get a good score (mine was around 53,000). The black light effects were cool, and I love how they whipped you around the corners in between each game. More exciting than just moving around slowly. Despite the Fast Pass, they did a really good job of keeping the Stand By line moving (which couldnt be said for all the rides I went on). And the [spoil]Tin Toy[/spoil] book! I just had to smile to myself and I wondered how many people would get that.
I have not gotten the chance to visit Disneyland Resort (I live close enough; therefore, get to go there often), but I know lots of people who are now absolutely obsessed with this ride, and make it seem like the best thing Walt Disney Imagineering has come up with in ages!
You can see Youtube videos of Toy Story Mania, but you will have to truly experience and see the attraction for yourself to see how awesome it really is.
