I’m headed to Disney World tomorrow and Sunday will be our first park Day – first stop: Toy Story Mania at Disney’s Hollywood Studios! Our family has been following the construction all year via various websites and Sunday is our chance to experience it for ourselves. I am so excited I might do a Mr. Potato Head in the cargo area of Toy Story 2. I’ll let you all know how it was when I get back!
Make sure you get to Toy Story Mania fast. The line will be long.
And if the line’s already long, get a FastPass ASAP!!
Back from Disney World, having waited a whole year to ride Toy Story Mania, and I must say it was worth the wait, and then some. Our first attempt to get on, just as the gates had opened, was thwarted when all the power in Hollywood Studios went out for about 30 seconds. We were standing right at Mr. Potato Head when it happened and the poor guy just kind of slumped over and his eyelids shut. It was kind of funny and creepy at the same time! So we grabbed a FastPass and figured if we had waited a year, we could wait a year and two hours. The ride is, in a word, awesome! Over our two days there we rode it five times and would’ve ridden it all day if we could have gotten on that many times. The technology is so far superior to the Buzz ride in the Magic Kingdom (although that one is still fun too). But the 3D looks great and the shooting is so easy and responsive. The ride (and even the line) look so great. No detail is spared, just as in the movie itself. You’ve got giant View Master wheels and Tinkertoys, a checkerboard ceiling, a giant Lincoln Log house, the path of Candyland under your feet in line and so on. My favorite detail was the big Magna Doodle when you come off the ride that says
MEETING AGENDA – 1. MOVING BUDDY? 2. TUESDAY NIGHT PLASTIC CORROSION AWARENESS MEETING. There was also a giant Little Golden Book of Tin Toy. They didn’t leave a single thing out! Can’t wait to get back there, but alas not for a couple years. Sniff, sniff…
Great review! I only got on the ride once. It was super fun though! I loved Pixar Place too! I hope by next year the lines won’t be as long. There was nothing not to like about the ride!
That sounds really cool, DHS! I’m impressed with the amount of thought and detail they’ve put into this ride.
Great review DHS
