I have a book that says Rex is 12 inches tall, but I don’t know which of Thinkway’s versions is closer.
Cool, that goes with what I was saying about Buzz. In the movie he’s slightly taller, so it makes sense that he’s right around 12 inches. Thanks for that. I really think that the TSC version is closer to 14-15 inches too, but anyone who’s got him correct me if i’m wrong.
TSC Rex is 11 x 12 x 13 inches
however, i don’t care if relative to Buzz, he’s too small. The TSC is ridiculously oversized. I don’t known how a six year old could play with that thing the way andy does
Their exactly as big as John Lasseter always imagined they would be. I don’t know why there’s any debate. the humans in this world are caricatured anyway, you can’t always use the average human of the real world and compare it to that of a fictional universe. as it is, Ive always thought Andy looked far too tall be to 6 years old, he seemed more like 12 in relation to his mom. but if they say he’s 6 then he’s 6. if they say Buzz is 12 inches, he’s 12 inches. same goes for everyone else in the collection.

You do know that someone can have a personal preference that disagrees with yours and you can still be friends, right?
Respectfully, My opinion is that the TSC is way too big to even display, and definately too big for a 6 year old to realistically have/play with. Not to mention being under a parking cone in TS2, Is it supposively 100% accurate to the movie? Sure, but just not my preference for my collection.
of course, i honestly think all the TSC are a little over sized. I just take one look at rex and think its ridiculous, i think the other rex at least looks like an actual toy.
I’m not saying you can’t prefer certain scale over another, it just seemed you were doubting the creator about being accurately scaled. The characters and props in these movies don’t exist, so we have no choice but take their word for it. not much room for opinion.
But go ahead collect whatever scale you like. I’m not trying to tell you what to like or buy.
Edit: also, Im not sure I get your traffic cone argument, I mean, Rex’s tail doesn’t even fit all the way inside in the movie. It seems true to life to me, then again I don’t exactly have a real traffic cone in front of me either. And even if I did, do they make different sizes, or is there just one standard size? Haven’t really researched this.
My Sculpey came today and I tried to make my own separate Potato Head eyes and I could get them right so I probably won’t be able to make a Mrs Potato head so I’m just going to wait and hope that she’s in wave 3
, so for now I’ll have to settle with the toy story 3 version ![]()

Wampar do you plan on doing dolly
Actually, I start work on her tonight. Don’t know how long she’ll take to finish…but I have been very busy the last few days and sometime in the next week I should have a fairly sizable update.

Well in this case, it’s two conflicting official sources. The TSC version is more current, but the 12 inch statement seems to work better with his on-screen companion. But it depends, there’s a lot of illusions in the movie; like how Rex looks huge when the toddler is trying to ride him. Normally, he appears smaller when interacting with the toys.
Just got my vintage Chatter-Telphone in the mail & made Lots-o’s Cane. ![]()
Re: Hasbro Mr and Mrs Potato Head to be released in Fall 2010
Here is what Hasbro’s original press release said:
“TOY STORY 3 MR. AND MRS. POTATO HEAD
(Ages 2 years & up/Approx. Retail Price: $9.99/Available: Fall 10)
Mr. and Mrs. are ready for adventure with the rest of the Toy Story 3 gang! These classic POTATO HEAD characters look just like they do in the movie, from hats down to shoes. Available at most major toy retailers nationwide and on HasbroToyShop.com.”
And here is Hasbro’s response to my query whether or not the Fall 2010 Mr and Mrs Potato Head would be “new” figures or just re-releases of their existing “Toy Story” Mr and Mrs Potato Head, but in new packaging:
“In regards to your inquiry on Mr. & Mrs. Potato Head for Toy Story III, the products are the same but the packaging reflects the new Toy Story III movie.”
I guess we’ll just have to wait and see. I provided Hasbro with all the Item Nos. of their existing Toy Story Mr and Mrs Potato Heads (Item Nos. 16805, 16806, 19759 and 19760) and Hasbro appear to be saying that the Fall 2010 release will be the same “figures” with new packaging.
Thanks for the info, but that can’t be. They already released the figures with new TS3 packaging a while back, so they must have an error. I really hope that they do release accurate Potato Heads like they said they would!!
Well, we’ve already got the Toy Story 3 box art variant of Mr. And Mrs. Potato Head, so why need another? Better yet, why claim it has film likeness if its the same one that’s been out for 20 years (before the movie was released). I think the employee might be a bit misinformed.
So it is the same crappy Potato Heads with different packaging? It’s just like Slinky…
My only explanation would be a re-release for the home video.

I’m just reporting what I was told. I explicitly asked them if the Fall 2010 “Toy Story” Mr and Mrs Potato Head figures would be “new” and “screen-accurate” sculpts and I copied and pasted their response to my question.
I certainly hope they release truly screen-accurate versions of Mr and Mrs Potato Head as well (although they may not be able to do separate eyes unless they’re permanently attached), but I thought I would just report the information in case anyone else was holding off purchasing Hasbro’s already released Mr and Mrs Potato Head figures or Thinkway’s Mr Potato Head.

Nobody’s questioning you, Agent, just what Hasbro told you. Thanks for posting your response. I honestly wouldn’t put it past Hasbro to do this, Refer to new box art as “all-new accurate from hat to toe”. They can’t do separate eyes because Hasbro wants it aimed at the same group (3+) so there are strict limits for sizes for the parts. They could probably get away with shoes, but they won’t do it for some reason.
TSC might be the only way to go at this point. I finally got my hands on one, and he’s great for what he is if you are a fan of the character.
Just won a close to scale buddy pack Bookworm. ![]()
