Toy Story Replicas (No trading-related posts please)

I’m gonna be disappointed when you are done with your collection wampar. I really look forward to seeing your customs.

Fantastic updates to your collection. Your hard work and effort shows in the finished products.

The lego people must be the easiest. Just get some old lego, maybe put the front of the torso on the back and paint on it.

Wampar are you going to do both LEGO Duplo people & LEGO Minifigures?

Not sure. I wont fully decide the specifics of exactly what I will and won’t do until the Bluray comes out in November. In the meantime I am done with the collection for a little while. Time to switch gears and work on my (non-PIXAR) Halloween costume.

Heh, I know the feeling. Great, great work on your collection. Always nice to take some time off and look at the whole set, I bet.

Awesome, Awesome, AWESOME job Wampar!!! You collection is outstanding! Your amazing at making Toy Story replicas! A few questions on your newest customs. Are Stretch’s tentacles poseable and sticky? Did you use sculpey to make bookworm? And are you planning on making Chuckles and Trixie or hoping that replicas of them are made in the future like I am?

Can anyone please tell me what Fisher-Price Little People were in sunnyside

Thanks

I just want to officially say thanks to everyone, you guys make me feel pretty awesome about my collection.

There is nothing poseable about Stretch unfortunately. She is a hard sculpture. I do love that the paint and glitter do give her a somewhat “squishy” look, but she is hard as a rock.

I did use sculpey for Bookworm…well for everything on him but the flashlight.

And to answer your last questions: yes. I am planning on making Chuckles and Trixie, AND I am hoping they actually make them to sell.

How could you make trixie? seems like that would be EXTREMELY hard.

Also, thinkway has confirmed wave 3, and i have a strong feeling trixie will be in that set. Seems like the most logicial one really. I cant imagine Zurg or Pete would be good sellers, and they’ve already said no to slink and hamm. Mrs Potato head and trixie should be in wave 3

I doubt that mrs potato head will be in wave 3.
She wouldn’t work well out all. first of all how will her separate eye lashes work, also how will her thin eye brows work and she has a very tiny nose that might be a safety hazard.

The current “best” version of her is horrible. It would be a good seller, they’d find a way. It wouldn’t have to EXACT, Mr PotatoHead sure isn’t

Her lashes would just be attached to the lids and wouldn’t protrude out much, I don’t see a problem there. As with Mr. P the eyes and brows would be fused together. The smaller nose might be a problem, but maybe a slightly higher age warning on the box would allow that to slip by.

I really don’t get the choking hazard crap on $50 toy anyways. It’s $50, it’s a collectors item, NOT A TOY. I mean, I can see maybe making Woody childrens safe (although there is a $19 version and $35 version that would do the trick if you’re letting a kid play with it) but who is going to buy a $50 Mr Potatohead for a child small enough to choke on a seperate eye for instance? Buy em the $10 version, it’s only a choking hazard for small children.

Seems kinda stupid

I would do the same I have done for everything else: foil balls for shape, sculpey for detail. Craft paint for color. I know I camt make her perfect. But it would certainly be a fun challenge to make her at all.

I do hope that she is part of the third wave…but with no confirmation or announced timeline I have to live on the assumption that whatever is in wave three won’t come along until next summer at the absolute earliest. I want to have my collection feel complete long before that, so I will make my own Trixie as a place holder for Thinkway’s IF it does get made.

And I agree with you about Pete. I don’t think he would sell well at all…but Zurg think would be very successful and I would be shocked if he is not part of the wave.

Im sure you’ll find a way to make it work, all you’re other stuff is pretty good. Just the plastic nature of the toy i would think would make her very difficult. But then again, you made stretch look pretty good. good luck to you

Well, I’m not even sure Thinkway knows how to categorize the Toy Story collection. On one hand, they’re highly-detailed replicas, complete with COA, however, on the other, they’re advertised towards kids, and feature non-accurate features to appeal to kids. Mr. Potato Head wouldn’t be $50 without his electronic features, and that was definately made for play value.

Though, I would appreciate full-on replicas, this is still the first time a Toy Story “replica” has been attempted to my knowlege, and the result is still pretty darn good.

Their replicas that have mass appeal and therefore should still abide safety regulations. Normally this issue wouldnt come up but the fact that these are replicas of characters who happen to be toys, intented to be for kids in the first place, they have to acknowledge that kids are going to play with them as well.

the only way we’d get true collectors edition items that don’t go out of their way to be kid safe is if you had a line that was small enough to keep a low profile. something online exclusive, a place life sideshow or hot toys where adults are their demo. I don’t see that happening.

is this the same figure that you brought in order to make Pterodactyl

thanks

Yup. That’s her. Though she is cheaper on amazon if I remember correctly.

I noticed you don’t have any suction cups on Stretch. No plans to add them?
