Toy Story Replicas (No trading-related posts please)

Hey, has anyone found an exact Etch A Sketch? I thought that there was one out there, but now that I look at it, I don’t see any with the “Making Creativity Fun” subtext.

wamper is this the g i joe that you brought in order to make rollerbob

No, look for the Action Pilot.

Make sure its one with blue clothes on, I’ve seen allot with orange clothes on ebay.

That one would work…mine had on regular camo fatigues when I got him. I painted him to colors for RollerBob…was a whole lot easier than hoping one would just come along with the right colors already.

Oh, I thought you used the G.I. Joe Action Pilot. That’s the one that inspired Roller Bob anyways, but I guess it’s rare. And there is an orange-suited variant, which seems to appear more often.

Anyone who wants the DS plushes:

Peas, Buttercup, Pricklepants, Dolly, Trixie

They all became available again on disney store.com

I ordered a dolly and pricklepants, got buttercup and peas at my disney store last week.

Hey wampar, since you didn’t get your Mr. Potato Head eyes, can you tell us how you made them step by step?

I’d love to know how to make all the mrs potatohead parts, but i’ll wait to see if she’s in wave 3

Well, actually the eyes I am currently using are the ones…

However, the ones I initially made, as well as the Mrs. pieces are just plain old sculpting. I sculpted the pieces directly onto the potato so they would have the right curve, and I started by putting some clay into the holes themselves to make proper sized pegs. I lucked out that the clay did not get stuck, I was worried about it, but with the type of clay I use it ended up not being an issue. After the clay was baked I sanded the pegs down a little for an easier fit. Simple as that.

In other news: the pool I decided upon for my Barbie’s for my version of Al’s Toy Barn came in. It is a LOT bigger than I expected. And though it doesn’t recreate the scene exactly, I think the feel is right…it makes me happy. And I am now 100% officially done with both TS1 and TS2. I will try to have a pic of the pool up in the next few days.

please post pics wampar

Do you mean done as in “think you’ve got everything” or done as in “stop doing TS1 & 2”?

Done as in I have made everything I intend to make from those two movies, and do not intend to do anymore. (Though at a later date I am considering sculpting myself a larger Wheezy…and maybe Rocky…maybe.)

Here is a photo of the Barbie pool. Again, far from film accurate…but I like it.

lookin good wampar. i have a question. how tall is your largest troika?

wampar, sorry that I keep asking so many pictures, but what kind of Mr. Pricklepants do you have? It looks a lot better and different than the disney store plush

He modified the Disney Store one.

And the pool looks great, I can see how you mean it has the “feel” of the movie.

My tallest Troika is five inches tall.

My Mr. Pricklepants is the Disney Store one, but I did some heavy modification. With a seam ripper I removed all of the embroidery on his face and leiderhosen. I also removed the fur from his head because I hated it. I sewed on new fur, overstuffed his body, and gave him brass buckles and buttons, and beaded eyes. I ended up pretty happy with him,

And I forgot when I was taking the Barbie picture. The whole reason I wanted to get the Barbies and the pool was to take this picture:

“How low can you go? How low can you go?”

Why does that black Barbie have action figure qualities? You know, the hinged joints and what not?

Hi guys,

I just received my Peas-in-a-pod from Hong Kong and thought I’d post some photos of them here to show you how all excellent they are in comparison to the USA / UK Disney Store version of the same toy:

They really are a beautiful toy, (very fun to juggle with!). Yes, they are a bit of a strange shape in that they are not entirely spherical (this is due to their sewing pattern - best illustrated in the third image above), but I am very glad I held out for this Japanease version rather than purchase my native release of the product.

Their accurate expressions, material, texture and hard shiny eyes more than account for their ‘squareness’ which is after all only a method of their manufature and easily overlooked in my eyes, especially as I intend to display them in their pod.

If anyone would like any further pics of any individual pea, or the pod zipped closed, or anything inbetween please ask and I will be happy to oblige. Questions also welcome.

P.S - I have very recently purchased an awesome new camera (Canon EOS 550D) which takes amazing photos so I will be revisiting my collection in photographs very soon, so that I may post them here for your viewing pleasure.
