I’m not rooting against Big Baby, I don’t care whether they make it or not. But if they choose characters THEY THINK will sell well, and they don’t, they stop producing any characters at all. And outside of a few people, I don’t see a Big Baby “replica” that was in the movie for 2 mins being a great seller, as a $50 glorified baby doll. Maybe I’m wrong, time will tell. But I can be disappointed about choosing a character, when each wave has about 5 characters and they pick one with very little universal appeal in my opinion
to say the least im very excited about big baby and will be buying him ive tried customizeing one of my baby cousins baby dolls and it just wasnt good it looked good but the head was off and the shape so big baby is on my list and im sure if they are gonna charge 50 bucks u can take of the clothes and underneath is babys dirty cloth and for the eye i see a tiny switch on the neck that makes the eye become lazy and the arms like someone said before could be u using a damp cloth on them and the tats appearing im sure if he is 50 bucks they will include both flashback and current big baby and if they dont i will buy him either way
If anything, this is getting a little confrontational. You’re bashing a Toy Story fan, who’s anxious about one of his favorite new characters getting a release. We’re all fans here, let’s just drop it.
Anyways, Big Baby was a big surprise, I’d never expect him to be a strong seller, but it all depends on how good they make it. Which, since it’s Toy Story Collection, we shouldn’t worry. Now, who thinks we’ll get an old Big Baby variant?
Twitch is another curious choice, but I know they can do him right. I’m thinking better paint aps, staff, “over 15 points of articulation,” removable armor, and chomping mandibles. Sounds easy enough, so I’m probably going to buy one. Not much a fan of the talking feature, but if they can make it descreet enough, I’m fine with that.
Glad to hear the director is excited about upcoming Thinkway TSC figure reveals.
While a “flashback” Big Baby doesn’t appeal to me in the slightest, I’m sure there are Toy Story and non-Toy Story fans out there who will be happy to purchase him (if he’s even confirmed as being planned for release by Thinkway). And if I ever saw him heavily discounted, I’d probably grab one to try and customise into a Lotso’s Gang “Big Baby”.
I think it’s pretty normal to create the BIG BABY as it is sold, as all of the toys are meant to be brand new (i mean from the toy story collection brand). Actually i’m pretty happy that they are about to sell it like a brand new toy, i expected them to do that.
Actually if you don’t want thte big baby like this, just remove the cloth on, and do whatever you want to make him like he is supposed to look in the lotso gang fair deal
Um, the TSC toys did use that data. It’s just that those are statues and not toys, which is why they can replicate the animation’s more ‘unrealisitic’ poses as compared to the more ‘reality-restricted’ toys.
Finally a bit of news to start backing up what I’ve been saying for the last week!!
Anyone who thinks that Baby should be all messed up as in the film have missed the point of the whole toy line. These are mean to be as if a child in the Toy Story universe would have received them on Christmas morning, a non-messed up baby if perfect for the aesthetics of the line - whether you like the toy or not is a different matter. As I’ve already said this many TS3 characters should not have been a supprise due to the past waves being movie specific. Stinky Pete, Bo Peep etc…will be at least a year away if the amount of toys I saw is anything to go by. For the record I still think it makes sound business sense to do characters like Lenny and Wheezy as these could be blister carded and sold for less than $10 each (Green Army Men price point)
Maybe I’m just missing something here, but what is the news that has appeared and is backing up your story? I just see your opinion in that post, but maybe I missed something, as it is early in the morning for me.
Sorry for the long winded rant, but here it is:
I’ve been trying to hold back on forming an opinion on these character choices, at least until the US Toy Fair in a week or so. I have to admit though, when I first read the news I was quite disappointed, as I, just like a lot of people here, made a point to get the Thinkway Chunk, Sparks, and Twitch, and the DS plushes because I was fairly certain that they wouldn’t be made as part of the definitive line, and I was fine with that. But now, for them to go and make almost all of those characters’ definitive versions, I feel rather disappointed, as this seems to be just another typical business practice anymore to say one thing and do another, which results in a sad wallet for me.
Yes, I’m happy to finally get Big Baby, even if it is just a baby doll that I may have to mod, but when they’ve been selling this line as more for collectors than anyone else, as evidenced by the cheaper toy lines, it’s frustrating to see that even after many fans clamoring for characters like the Prospector, Zurg, Stretch, Trixie, or Mrs. Potato Head, they still choose to ignore all of those choices and go with ones that few have asked for instead, aiming more for the younger audiences. I get that they’re in the business of making money, but it seems to me like making money could be much easier for them if they just gave us what we’re asking for.
Honestly, who wants to buy a second Twitch, that is slightly upgraded, and costs $25 more, instead of say a Trixie in the same scale as Rex, so that we have a full size plastic version that fits in better than the current alternative (either a plush that is too small, or a figure from the 6 inch line)? Or maybe a Stretch that is made to scale and can fill out Lotso’s gang, instead of one that is puny in comparison to its counterparts? Those are both TS3 toys, and they both seem like they would be more suitable choices than rehashing characters like the plushes that have already been released elsewhere, while these other characters have yet to see properly scaled versions.
I guess my main point is, if they are going to sell this line as a Collection, and are wanting collectors to purchase it, then I feel like they should listen to what all of us have been saying and find a way to strike a better balance between making a profit and making the fans happy.
Maybe I’m just missing something here, but what is the news that has appeared and is backing up your story? I just see your opinion in that post, but maybe I missed something, as it is early in the morning for me.

TS3 Director tweeting he’s seen some of the new toys. I wouldn’t be supprised if this is the first he’s seen of them, he wont be involved in the devlepment or approval of those toys (I work in licensing and approvals so I have professional knowledge as to how the system works). Uncle George Lucas has nothing to do with the approval of Star Wars stuff Lucas Licensing do that, same here, Disney Consumer Products handle all approvals. It’s great news that he’s excited about the wave though.
I echo all when I say I’m gutted that Trixie is MIA, would have been a must have in my collection!

My biggest complaint isnt that they have made another Pricklepants, Buttercup, and Dolly. The DS plushes aren’t exactly perfect and they are good characters, Its just stupid to release those 3, and NOT TRIXIE when Trixie is the only one without something suitable for display purposes.
Totally agree, it just doesn’t make sense, I hope that a Trikie of some form is on the way, maybe DS exclusive like the other Thinkway toys??? WOuld rather her be part of TSC thugh
Hi everyone! I’ve been reading through the threads here (so long and so much info!) and I’m really impressed by all your collections. I’m a huge Toy Story fan in general and I buy the toys for my daughters (ages 5 and 7), however, I really think I buy them for me.
Pretty much every day they play Toy Story and I really want to print them a Sunnyside Daycare sign. I’ve tried to find an image of it online but can’t find a nice, clear straight on shot. I found the gorgeus wallpaper of all the toys that someone here made and there was a Sunnyside Daycare sign in it. I’m looking for something like that. I’d love to print them an 8 1/2 by 11 sign. Any ideas where I can find it?
Apparently Mattel will be releasing more “Toy Story” toys in 2011, so there is a very, very slim chance that one of their toys could include a Trixie. But since they never included Trixie in their 6" line of figures (to my knowledge) and they didn’t create any “in-scale” figures other than Buzz, Woody and Jessie, it’s probably not very likely.
There may be an equally slim chance that Thinkway are planning on releasing a Trixie, but as part of their cheaper non-TSC line instead of as a “Toy Story Collection” figure?
Hopefully Toy Fair will reveal a reasonably in-scale, plastic Trixie to be made by someone.
I heard from a very reliable source that Disney Store is releasing Chuckles the Clown online and in stores in July 2011 and Big Baby online in Fall 2011.
