Well even tho they get no play we do mess around with them alot like pose them for pictures and…
Idk mayb we are contradicting ourselves.
My toys might not get “played with”…but they know they are loved. And they are kept out in the open, so when I am not home they have free reign of the house, and lots and lots of friends to keep them company.
LOL!!! So you really don’t think Woody is holding a meeting of the toys every day trying to create a master plan “How To Get Wampar To Play With Us”? Any mysterious calls to your cell phone?
If anyone was the leader of my collection id say its Mr.Potato Head since i put his angry eyes on…I keep mines on a shelve so when im not home then can jump down and do as they please.I got a dog aswell so they have fun with him i bet.No strange calls to my phone yet…I think wampar’s would be happy aswell they have a big family.
To be honest, that’s been my biggest complaint about the Thinkway Toys. I’ve wanted to play with them and re-enact some of the scenes from the movies, but the problem is they’re just too darn expensive to replace if one gets damaged. My siblings have wanted to play with them on occasion, so I’ve let them while I supervise, but I am always afraid of something happening. If they just cost a little less I’d have no problem playing with them, but I want to make sure that they last as long as possible, so in the future I can show them to my children and hopefully get them to love and appreciate these movies and characters as much as I have.
I understand about worrying about them getting damaged or broken. I worry about it too but I bought ours as toys so I can’t complain. Ken’s head comes a little loose every time they play with him and Barbie’s outfit has lost it’s “shine” in a few areas.
I also worry that I should be buying two of everything since I have two girls and I wonder how they are going to decide which of them gets which toys when they are older. But it makes me happy that they are actually playing with them and I know they are having fun (my daughters, not the toys. LOL).
I think in my heart I am a collector though because I really want to just display them all somewhere and not let anyone touch them.
I just close my bedroom door so I can let the toys wander as they please until I come upstairs
Except it really doesn’t. The It may seem the movies are trying to make us feel guilty about not playing with our toys, but their not really about that at all. I mean, I see the irony, but the first was about dealing with jealousy, being replaced. TS2 I would say is about living in the now. Enjoy life while it lasts. TS3, I think was about maturity, learning to move on, coming to terms with big changes in life.
These movies aren’t about neglecting inanimate objects, which is what toys are in the real world. Its more about what they represent then what they really are.
Actually I find it kind of ironic too that the series originator John Lasseter is actually one of the biggest toy collectors at PIXAR and is extremely OCD whenever someone get near his vintage toy shelf. Which is exactly how he came up with TS2.
Anyway, I haven’t posted on this thread for several months now, mainly sticking to the WALL-E forum but has anyone successfully built a real wooden Slinky Dog yet? I remember that a few posters were kind of interested in doing that last year but I can’t recall if any progress was made.
I think we eventually decided that Slinky is not actually made of wood. And Tyler Haslett was working on a custom slinky before being banned. Supposedly he still is, but its hard to tell.
But a wooden Slinky Dog replica, regardless whether it is the canon material, would be pretty cool right?
Yes it would be, are you thinking of making one?
I’ve been drawing up some plans for a while. Nothing too big or interesting that people would want to see mind you, but I have been giving it some thought for quite some time. The great thing about Slinky Dog is that he’s completely geometric, his head, front and back halves are all spheres and his legs are pretty much stylized pegs. The only thing that might be tricky is his snout but I might try and construct it by filing down an elongated cone.
I’m intrigued, I would love to be able to do things like this, but I don’t really have the tools. The best customs I’ve done is a Wheezy made of model magic, and a Buzz lightyear manual made in Microsoft word.
I would really like to see this.
I’m no Master Replica builder either but I’m not too shabby with a dremel, metal file, and jigsaw. And I like wood because I find it extremely easy to work with making the entire process very rewarding (like my Autopilot, made with MDF). But it’s not like it’s even in the production or planning stage yet, I’ve got a lot more other PIXAR projects that I’m working on for the Maker Faire 2011.
I would love to show it to you, but I don’t know how to attach it to the post
PREVIEW day at NYC Toy Fair…Here’s hoping the pictures start showing up!!!
Hey I finished off my Trixie today (thanks to Wampar for the idea) and my next projects are snake and Chuckles and I was wondering if he should have a happy or a sad face and if a happy face does anyone have a good pic of him happy?
@jordo789
Are you going to post pics of ur Trixie?
I’m going to post pics of everything when it’s done, I’ve also bought an etch a sketch (about time I guess) I may post pics once I make my Snake because I don’t know when I’ll make my Chuckles.
