Hiya guys,
Sorry I haven’t been on for a while I just came back from holiday. I’m thinking of buying some plastic nesting eggs and painting them to look like troikas. In the past I’ve had bad experiences with painting plastic - when I made my Jingle Joe I had to paint about 15 layers on the plastic to stop seeing the real colour of the plastic through the paint! Does anyone have any tips on painting plastic to make it easier???
That’s interesting, can you provide a link? I’ve seen several plastic egg sizes, and some might be the right size, but i’ve never seen an actual set of nesting eggs
Wow, that’s pretty neat, I’ve never seen those before. Looking at them, they would be hard to paint over as they are dark blue, red, and green…several layers of paint is all i can suggest…i’m curious if those come in other colors…
I’ve have seen some from the 70’s which are different colors but not the correct colour for the troikas in the movie. I think I might try sanding them down to colour them. Heres the other bunch I saw from the 70’s
I suppose so, I just really want to have the plastic eggs because the material in the movie is plastic, I might try looking into it more and try and get a another technique at painting them and if that doesn’t work, settle for wood.
I would like plastic eggs as well, but it doesn’t seem possible. The only thing I could think of is somehow obtaining plastic easter eggs of 5 different sizes…and somehow get them close and color…then use stickers for the parts…something I was trying with the wood before I settled for the professional customization
That is quite a good idea to have stickers on them, it would save me a lot of trouble and worry if I made a mistake with the paint (which knowing me - will happen!!!)
Yeah, I had a couple of the parts drawn with adobe illustrator. Some parts are much easier than others. Sticker paper can be bought on amazon.com. Maybe you could just paint the eggs the basic colors (brown, blue, green/brown, orange, red/green) and then do the stickers?
