I was wondering which DS stores are near you, Slink? I live in sOUTH @LANTA ... and my stores are quite the drive. If I make it up to one of the stores this weekend, I will try to take a camera & a ruler, lol!

This is a 3D model of Mr. Spell Im working on. Normally I would just post this in the fan art section except Slink and I might look into getting this 3D printed for you guys if I end up finishing it. Its still in its early stages, you might notice the top is a bit asymmetrical towards the handle, this is just temporary. the side on the left will be mirrored to the right later. I also need to get ahold of better reference pics so plenty of adjustments to the proportions will need to be made.
Wish I could see this, currently at work, can see when I get home (stupid blocker).
Didnt want to create too much excitement in case it didn’t work out, but my next project (with a GIANT assist to Kyle) will possibly be a Mr. Spell.
Oops, did I pull the curtain too soon? I should have ran this by you first. I don’t want people getting their hopes up yet either, but we are getting to the stage where I’ll need brutally honest critique. Not quite there yet, but if I need to make big adjustments or possibly start over its good to get that out of the way early. Right now Im just blocking in the basic look.
Your work blocks photobucket? that sucks. The pic is more recent than the pic I showed you privately, its more complete looking by comparison.
My work blocks all photo sites (photobucket, flickr, etc), facebook, and a few other fun things. Ironically I post here with ease. And I certainly don’t mind you getting the critique, had to happen sooner or later. Just for the masses: its a work in progress and not a guarantee. And there will be several kink to work out even if the 3D print works as far as the colors, keys, etc

okay, calming down now. So, this is about what I expecting given the rumor. I was not expecting him to be 15 inches, that sounds like its to scale exactly based on the shot in the ts3 video game teaser of him next to buzz.
The Buzz they packed him with, is that a previously released buzz with just added phrases?
I want to know who’s voicing zurg though. Guess its not Andrew Stanton or they would have mentioned it wouldn’t they? or is he just not worth mentioning not being known for acting?
No Zurg vision. Disappointed but at this point I’m just glad its finally happening, and he’s as accurate as he is, scale wise. And it looks like they may have changed the plastic or toned down the sparkles he had in his prototype. He’s also the proper shade of purple. Whats the deal with his ion blaster? Im a bit confused as to what it does. It “sends balls spinning” but does that mean it works anything like it should or some other kind of gimmick?
They say his waist is fully articulated, however I think they just mean it rotates. Its far too shiney to be rubberized, and given the price its not entirely unexpected.
Do they have any sort of interaction features? it doesn’t look like it. Couldn’t that imply they might sell them separate at some point as well?
I still contend that it didnt make much sense for the Disney Store to randomly release zurg 13 years after Toy Story 2…but in a two pack interacting with Buzz? It kinda does.
I’m dying to know about the balls too? Maybe they are inserts u cant see in the pics?
15 inches is a great size…evne Buzz’s size would have been acceptable, but he’s 3 inches taller, a full 25% larger.

Wow. Zurg looks great.
But another standard Buzz? I almost would have preferred a proto-type colours repaint in red and silver (or was it red and white) instead of just the “same old, same old” Buzz.
Still, it will be very hard to pass on Zurg. It is a very nice looking figure and I’m glad that the final paint/plastic chosen isn’t quite so shiny/sparkly as the proto-type.

This thread just got exciting again! 
First of all, I think Zurg looks fantastic. Like Kyle said, it looks to me that the waist isn’t rubber, and there’s no Zurg-vision, but hey, it actually shoots balls (we think), and after 13 years with no Zurg really even close to an accurate scale, I’ll take it! I’m hoping to get this for or around Christmas. Will be a very great addition in many of our collections. Just have to figure out what I’ll do with the Buzz that comes with it… I have 3 now and don’t need any more.
Second, I know that you were trying to keep this thing low-profile, Kyle and Slink, but are you actually making a Mr. Spell with the Troikas/Clown treatment? Only considering it? Not at all? What I can say is that the 3D model Kyle put together looks like a good start, but what do you actually plan on doing with it?
Dimensions have not been decided. Since the toy was loosely based on a speak and spell, maybe that could be a starting point? We’ll have to play it by ear. Real world measurements don’t exist in 3D space, size is all relative so we’ll just try to match key shots from the movie as much as possible.
Well the troikas and clown were a very different, those were just wood and hand painted detail. We have no experience with 3D printing or plastics so this is all pretty foreign to us. I cant speak for Brian, but if all goes well I think the idea is to get them produced in small batches based on demand as with those other projects. How many gets made will depend on all the costs associated with it. There’s still a lot to figure out though, like what kind of limitations we might run into to see if this is even viable. I don’t even know what format the file needs to be in. So yeah, its something we will have to look into.

He looks great! You could always just stick this buzz in the TSC Buzz box as a way of displaying him(thats what i’m gonna do). I know the woody lotso set has hit retail stores, but has anyone called their store to see if the zurg set is actually out?
Also, I love that Zurg apears to have articulated fingers
Ahhhh!! Zurg has arrived… I am so excited, I literally can’t wait to order him online! I love the villains and I am really hoping for a Stinky Pete to come along really soon! Zurg may not be 100% accurate but none of the TSC toys are, so Zurg will be perfect to me! As for the Buzz, I think I’ll either give him toy Nephew to enjoy or pop him on eBay? Too excited!!!
