I personally think the Disney Store rex would beat the Thinkway rex if the scales were a little better and the speaker wasnt visible on the chest. If the speaker was on Trixie’s chest, it would be invisible on display and be good enough for me, for sure.
I understand you’re the pickiest, and even I am pickier than most. but at this point we cant hope for much more, and i’d rather have a less than perfect character than an empty space. And its not like its crap, it would still be pretty good and only cost 1/2 of a TSC item
I actually wouldnt think a full sized big baby would be completely implausible from a size standpoint. he’s roughly 16 inches, the zurg is 15, not that big of difference, and the baby doll with jessie would have some marketing tools going for it
I didnt phrase that well. I just think Big Baby is too creepy for them to want to do a full size one. The only merchandise they sold of him was a vinylmation figure and a pvc figure
I dont think its likely, but I don’t discount the possibility. Let’s face it, even though it makes more sense cuz hes paired with buzz, this Zurg release came outta left field. Sure hes a more popular character, but there still hadnt been a release of that size since 1999, 13 years. He was just as popular in 1999 as now. If they are pulling out stuff like this, I just have a little hope they are examining the toy story market a little better.
That’s the problem, I don’t “make toys.” I’m a glorified middle man. I don’t really have the skills. It’s hard to track down people who can make the plastic toys and won’t charge $3500 for a prototype. I try to get myself a character, and share it, while not going broke on toys. Until 3-D printers take off a little more, I’m kinda stuck in limbo.
Zurg is still one of the better known TS characters. There’s a ride based on him even. Disney itself has always been bad when it comes to side character merchandise. I think they needed a 2nd villain and Zurg made the most sense.
Yer but without u we would not have troikas or clown. U may not “make them” but to me good as make them. Still think u should quit ur job and focus full time on it lol
I dunno, could be a wrong, but Zurg was at the showcase (without his compliment buzz), my opinion is, the woody/lotso combo was thought of AFTER the buzz/zurg combo. I doubt the woody/lotso was their BIG IDEA, cuz i doubt it even sells well
No I think they planned to release a Zurg, but wanted to ride the coattails of buzz to ensure success. I think they are finally attmepting to expand the toy story market.
I could be wrong, they could have just randomly decided, HEY! Villain/hero COMBOS! and randomly assigned something to woody and buzz had an obvious choice.
I mean, even teh Hamm bank was kinda random right? But not when you consider it filled a void in Toy Story merchandise created by a thinkway cancellation.
and i mean, and i could be way off base, do you notice the first two build a figures were trixie and chuckles? and the chuckles plush was released well after the rest. I feel disney is noticing there is a gap in the merchandise that people will buy. The new rex, comes out a year after rex vanishes from the USA? it could all be coincidence, but I feel they are paying attention marketing wise.
