the original mr mic/rockin robot had a different color variation but was the same overall design.
There is no rockin robot, I’ve been through the same searches. That name comes up on wikipedia, someone added it.
Show me rockin robot.
The robot in themovie is an original design, the voice is coupled with an actor and the dialouge from the toy “my pal 2”
“Mr. Mic” indeed existed before Toy Story, came out in 1991.
EDIT:
" Don’t worry if you don’t remember this character from Toy Story - he’s a pretty obscure background toy, and only has one spoken line: “Mr. Lightyear needs more tape!” He helps Buzz fix his spaceship, pals around with the toy snake in Andy’s room, and that’s about it. The only reason I remember him is because I did his voice.
Needless to say, I was really happy when Burger King made a toy of him as part of the Toy Story kid’s meal line (or was it for Toy Story 2? I’m not positive). He’s never been merchandised in any other way, and while I guess that makes sense, I’ve always liked Bob Pauley’s design a lot, and hey, you can never have too many good robot toys. It’s really nicely made for a item this inexpensive, and pretty on-model, too!
I can’t imagine this toy being all that valuable, even though though this line sold out twelve years ago. You can get two of them, plus a lot of the other fast food toys, on eBay starting at $2.00 + $7.65 shipping."

The Robot Designer:
Rockin robot refers to the original name of Mr mic before he got adapted for toy story, not the character “Robot” in the movies. their different things.
There was a post a while back with the color variation on these boards a while back.
He was always Mr. Mike/Mic
The “rockin robot” is what some people think the Robot in toy story was, which is why I was answering the statement other than yours.
google.com/search?hl=en&clie … =&gs_rfai=
check out that link, and you’ll see what I’m speaking of.
The name is associated with what people thought the “Robot” in Toy Story was.
Rock’N Robot was not used as a toy name for anything util a few years ago some knexs toy used it/
I think your misunderstanding,
pixarplanet.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=5936
Admittedly he doesn’t state where/how he got that info, but why would rock in robot be trademarked if it didn’t exist to be used with permission?
I’m not misunderstanding anything, just trying to help folks out with facts.
What am I supposed to be seeing on the link you showed me?
Here is where people are getting their mis-information:
Look under “snake and robot”
statemaster.com/encyclopedia … characters
Thats why I post info I’ve acquired since 1995 and not quick google searches made today. I’m here to help others like me, who are very nitpicky, etc. I come from a prop replica backround, so thats why the thread.
mainly sherrifwoodypride’s post, which he already reiterated again, that Mr. mic’s original name was Rockin robot. according to him. though I though he provided a source, but I guess not.
sherrifwoodypride, mind clearing things up here? what are you basing your info off of?
This has nothing to do with robot, just Mr. Mic.
- Playskool Rockin’ Robot is an existing toy, because many novelizations of the first movie include that name in the copyrights section, so it’s clearly not referring to Robot, who has been confirmed to have been designed for the movie.
Example from this site (http://www.pubint.com/about/index.cfm/act/termsconditions):
- This website cites “Playskool Rockin’ Robot” as a tape player, and the only tape player in the TS movies is Mr. Mike:
- I remember seeing one being sold on eBay in package, which was branded “Playskool Rockin’ Robot”, but unfortunately I can’t find any evidence for this now.
I hope this is enough evidence to show that it is referring to Mr. Mike.
Take a look at what I found whilst browsing the Disney Store website:
disneystore.com/buzz-lightye … 739/13909/
Look in the background of the picture of the ridiculously stupid “Ultimate” Buzz Lightyear toy. Looks like an accurately sized Sparks and Chunk along with the Disney Store Lotso. I have a feeling Sparks and Chunk will be Disney Store exclusives as well.
Just wondering, why do you feel so negatively about the Buzz Lightyear Programmable Robot?
Well, I guess it’s not that bad, but it has useless features, it’s inaccurate and way overpriced and it looks weird when it moves.
Hahhaha, that buzz is so useless. I saw one in a target a few months ago, and its about 4 feet tall, and scoots on wheels or something not fun, hahah. Did anyone buy one? Last I saw that one was on clearance from $200, rather than $20002 or whatever the price was. (it wasnt actually 4 feet tall of course, just exaggerating because its so shitty hhaha)
Its not suppose to be a replica it’s a robot for little kids so its cool for them.
I know its purpose, and thats why I thought it was so stupid. It looks too clumsy for kids to play with.
I think the Buzz robot exists to pee off perfectionists like yourselves. Lol. Truth be told, he’s a typical robot toy. You play with him for 10 minutes and then your bored. I think that Thinkway saw the success of the Robosapien series and jumped on board. My son has Buzz and robo v2 and their as good/bad as each other. And kids do love robots, big time. And you can think yourselves lucky in the US. He sells here for $310 and is only available via the Disney store. I got him for $42 on eBay.
Here’s several Mr. Sharks
Wind up frog (remember, Sid added the wheels on)
A green halloween glove which could easily be converted into Hand-In-The-Box
If anyone had good painting/printing skills they could probably make their own troika set
and a Toy baby doll (these always made me uncomfortable out as a kid- and still do)
And I just thought this was cool (Make has an article about how to make one:
Regarding that huge Buzz: where does it state anywhere coming from me that I do not know its purpose? Its not made for collectors, its a kids toy. Hell, even the collection line isnt made for collectors, they’re kids toys too. I even stated how clumsy and boring the Ultimate Buzz looked, and you indeed confirmed it for me that kids play with it for 10 mins, and then get bored. I know what kids like, I’m one too. Just because I’m 26, doesnt mean anything, hahaha. Look at where I’m posting, hahah. Should be proof enough.
Anyways, on to something worth talking about at least:
Awesome post Pixar Builder, alot of useful stuff. I was just looking at those nesting eggs in TS yesterday thinking how could vinyl printouts coupled with base paint would make “blank” nesting eggs kick ass. Thanks for posting those, I’m going to try and get a set of blanks somewhere.
Thats a REALLY kickass find on the sharks too. I had some as a kid, but they were more “realistic in the face” if that makes any sense on a cheap squeak toy, haha, but these look really, really close to the movie.
Was there any ordering info for the Sharks anywhere?
I was just on Ebay and I came across what appeared to be an accurately scaled Lenny that was made by Mattel in 2000 or so. It came packed with a smaller, out-of-scale Buzz figure. Here’s the link:
Does anyone have any info on this?
If the bendable Buzz is 4.5 inches, that means Lenny is even smaller than the fast food Lenny.
Here is the Fast food Lenny, which is only about 3/4 smaller than it should be in the movie. cgi.ebay.com/Burger-King-Small-T … 563b47684e
And also mcdonalds made one, but I dont even remember it, hahaha, just saw it while searching. I was working at a mcdonalds at the time, so I have no clue why I dont remember it. Does anyone have any info on this Lenny:?
