My modified Toy Story 4 Playskool Mr. Potato Head with an unmodified TSC Mr. Potato Head (I did make separate eyes for my TSC Potato Head but they don’t look so good so I didn’t show them here). I’ve heard people say that the TSC Potato Head still wins in terms of accuracy. In terms of the shape of the potato body, ears, and separate shoes, I completely agree. But the overall look and expression of the Playskool one just reminds me a BIT more of the film Potato Head. I can’t quite say why I think so; maybe it’s the glossier, more flexible plastic they used? The shape of the Playskool eyes being more movie-accurate, despite being one piece, is definitely a huge factor. Also, the nose is more rounded compared to the more angular nose of the TSC Potato Head. Plus, it’s an ACTUAL classic Potato Head toy without electronics. I’m sure a lot of people will disagree with me, and that’s okay. I’m happy to have both in my collection.
Thinkway really dropped the ball with the TSC Woody twice in terms of his face. If they opted out of his closed mouth smile, they really should have filled in the inside of his mouth at least. It is such a noticeable improvement whenever I see someone fix it.
And nice Potato Head mod. I’m thinking of buying the new Potato Head and using the '80s Potato head body as the base since his arms are closer to what they look like in the films.
Thanks! I just used Milliput epoxy clay; sculpted them over the potato body, which I covered with plastic/cling wrap to protect the plastic while sculpting. For Mr Potato Head, I just attached the brows onto the eyes with Fabri-Tac (strong hold and could be permanent but can be peeled off if needed), but you can probably use blu tack or something else less permanent. For Mrs, I had to attach the brows directly onto the body with the same glue.
Has anybody heard anything about a full-size movie acurrate Gabby Gabby? All I’ve been able to find are small scale versions/Funko Pops. Also, has anybody on here made their own? I’m planning on making my own using a Chatty Cathy doll as the base.
As of right now, there isn’t one available but considering Thinkway plans on adding new toys to the Collection line after Bo, Bunny, and Ducky. With a Duke due Fall 2019, it wouldn’t be unrealistic to assume Gabby Gabby is included in the next wave.
Any ideas/suggestions on how to finish the lamp shade? Or does anyone have a printable file with the design from the movie? I don’t have Photoshop and Paint doesn’t work that well lol
Are there any fellow Aussies on this forum? If so, has anyone seem either of Thinkway’s Bo Peep figures with fabric costumes (cape or Giggles McDimples versions) in local stores?
I can only seem to find Thinkway’s entirely plastic figure and Mattel’s “Barbie-esque” version.
I haven’t seen any of them, but I bought the entirely plastic Bo, and I really think it’s a great substitute if you can’r find the others. I think the face is more accurate than anything. Also, to any fellow Canadians, would you happen to know where I could get the non-talking Rex by Thinkway? I might get the Disney Store version, because I think it’s move accurate in terms of height.
Great customs everyone! I know that the TSC and TSSC series aren’t everything to everyone.
I ended up scrapping ideas for a closed mouth Woody until I can justify buying the soft body doll available now (summer 2019) as well as another one for the more detailed body.
I did however, buy both Duke Caboom with Forky as well as Stunt Cycle Duke Caboom set, painted the motorcycle exhaust pipes, and Duke’s boot soles with red permanent marker. Also pried away and cut off some of the vinyl connectors that held his soft vinyl cape to his back, so it can flow a bit more easily for action shots. It’s not perfect,
I’ve since sold off a lot of my TS collection, and right now, I’m good. I feel comfortable this way. I gave my 1988 Animal Lovin’ Ken to a collector friend of mine.
Your Duke looks great. At the moment, I’m mainly focusing on the main characters from the fourth film (Ducky, Bunny, Forky, Duke, Bo, etc.), but I may try and get characters from other movies.
FYI for any fellow Aussie fans - it looks like some of Thinkway’s basic (i.e. NOT Signature Collection" figures will be stocked by Big W as part of their upcoming toy sale. From the catalogue, it looks like they’ll have Bo Peep with Giggles McDimples, Bunny and Ducky.
I swapped heads over from a soft bodied TS4 Woody to a Disney Store Woody - not perfect, but I’m pleased with him.
Also adding the pics of my painted up Duke Caboom -
Disney Store (also TSC I think) head on the left. TS4 soft bodied “huggable” head on the right.
I just finished up a few projects. I finally made some real leather ears for my Slinky dog, put the finishing touches on my Bookworm, and made a Forky; I got one of those cheap make your own Forky kits at Walmart and edited him a bit. I’m thinking about picking up one or two more so I can make him with different facial expressions (everything is glued on)
IIRC, she made every one of Ken’s outfits that appeared in Toy Story 3. Both her and wampar’s collections were crazy impressive. Wonder if they’ll update them for Toy Story 4.
