Toy Story Replicas (No trading-related posts please)

No, it snaps back like any other Woody does. I wouldn’t know how to make it pull back slowly. you have to understand new pull string toys don’t have the string wind up in a spool, its just connected to rubber band or elastic type thing, with a button on the end.

Hmm, that’s too bad. Maybe partially obstructing the pull string hole with something will make it go back slower?

I was thinking of getting a woody and a old pull string toy and make the pull string toy be some type of trigger for woody voice box, but i have no idea how a pull string works…or even make the pull string say woody’s sayings (ones from the movie) if its possible.

also if someone has the tsc woody and the playtime sheriff woody, could someone take some comparison photos on all sides? big thanks to if someone does it for me :stuck_out_tongue:

this guy has TONS of replicas including the mutant toys!

Also, nobody ever answered, but what are the differences between the reproduction chatterphone and the vintage one?

Whoa! That collection is pretty cool, but it doesn’t even compare to how awesome and epic Wampar’s collection is.

EDIT: Actually, I take that back. The claw machine has me in stitches!

The original Chatter Phone is made of wood and has a different cord then the new one which is made of plastic.

I keep seeing what looks to be vintage chatterphones but the string is on the left not the right like usual.

No one’s done it to my knowledge, but it can be possible to modify a genuine pull-string doll to say Woody’s phrases. Sadly, the voicebox can’t really be recycled, since the speed at which the string retracts depends on the speed of whatever track Woody is saying. This means you’d have to get Woody’s phrases onto a tiny gramophone record. Pixar actually has made renders of what Woody’s voicebox looks like, I’ll try to get a scan in later.

EDIT: Here:

My scanner is dieing, so you’ll have to excuse the blue bars.

Anyone know where that Mr. Spell is from? (I know it isn’t a real one, but I’m just curious). It also looks like he has the exact Troll doll from the film, but I’m surprised he has toys of Hockey Puck and the Troika doll cause I didn’t think they existed.

Most of those are custom made.

Troll doll might be real, since there’s so many out there (and it looks like he doesn’t really have a lot of custom stuff). Troikas might be real as well, they have a manufactured look to them. They might be rare film merchandise, or, I heard the Troikas were based off a pre-existing toy, Nesting Farm Animals. Hockey Puck looks like a bendy figure.

Also, I have Woody’s revolver! Just kidding, it’s an old cap gun keychain I’ve had for a while (I just cut the chain off).

A lot of discussion regarding the correct scale of the toys. Pixar released this chart featuring the silhouettes of 200 of their characters. Hope it helps some of you customizers. It is a very big chart, so you’ll have to click on the link to see it properly.

Looks like it answers a lot of size questions. For example, Bookworm is slightly shorter than Dolly. Stretch & Pricklepants are the same height.

If it helps as a standard, Ken and Barbie are 12". Go from there I guess.

A bit off-topic, but two things I noticed about Day & Night at the end:

 1. The one flexing his muscles is actually Day, which is obvious from this promotional image. http://pixarplanet.com/blog/images/1093.jpg

 2. Since they’re technically cartoony 2D characters they’re probably capable of exaggerating their size a bit cause of their fluid animation.

We actually found that chart before on here and I recall hearing that there were some inaccuracies, at least when comparing all of the Pixar characters.

correct me if I’m wrong, but that chart was just a pixar’s freelance artist’s best estimation of the sizes, they shouldn’t be taken as fact, its not like its officially approved by Pixar. He even asks to point out any changes he should make, so he doesn’t know all of this for sure.

I wouldn’t trust that scale chart too much especially for Toy Story 3, I took a quick glance at it and noticed that it shows Twitch is shorter then Chunk which isn’t possible.

That chart has a LOT of inaccuracies.

I GOT MY KELLOGS HAMM!!! Here It Is Compared To My Brothers Disney Store Hamm. Kellogs Hamm Is On The Left, Disney Store Hamm Is On The Right.

I Noticed He Was Squeezable.

That Might Work.

I just tried partially covering the hole with my thumb nail as a test, and it went in slower, but didn’t go in evenly, more like in short spurts. Perhaps it was just because of the string, though, with a more accurate string like Kyle has, it might go in smoother because the string that comes with the TSC Woody is thicker and less smooth than Kyle’s replacement string. Can you try this to see if it works with your pullstring, Kyle?
