Any personal favorite toy you would’ve liked to have seen in the movies? I personally would’ve loved to see GI Joe in it. I even have the perfect scenario. Where ever they are, it has both a 12" 60s or 70s GI Joe and an 80s 3.75" GI Joe constantly arguing over who’s better.
What about you guys? Any toys you would’ve liked to have seen?
Does a “Game Boy” count? LOL
wheezy. it would be interesting if at sunnyside there were some “potato head kids” toys
A Transformer would have been cool to see in Toy Story.
I also would have liked to have seen a toy of a “bad/evil/villain” character (for example, Megatron or Starscream from Transformers) who was actually really nice, quiet and sensitive (or something other than “evil”) when “alive”.
It would have been cool to see a “standard” action figure type toy (5-6") play a larger role. I guess there is Rocky Gibraltar in TS and TS2 and also Twitch in TS3 (although he is around 12"), but I was hoping for something more similar to a He-Man (Masters of the Universe) or Super-hero or some other “heroic” kind of action figure. Again, it would have been cool if their “alive” personality was far removed from their “character”.
As sonikperson said, the Potato Head Kids, the “Tater Tots”
Raggedy Ann as one of Molly’s toys, Raggedy Andy as Andys (SAME NAME!:O)
Cabbage Patch Kid!
I kinda thought it would have been funny if there was a Bratz doll at Sunnyside, and Barbie and her would fight lol
You gave me the image of Skeletor being just as you described. Maybe even being so sensitive that he cries a lot. XD I could see it. Stinky Pete wasn’t anything like his character persona.
I could see that as well. I thought Twitch would’ve made a great 80s Masters of the Universe era type of toy
OOH! TOY CAT FIGHT! Although I get the feeling Bratz dolls fight dirty XD
You know, I also think it would’ve been cool if there was an action figure of Astro Boy. Why not? Tororo was in it. Be even funnier if he was a Japanese imported Astro Boy so he’d speak Japanese the whole time. Although then he’d have to fight the spotlight with Spanish Buzz and that is a fight NO ONE can win XD
Oh, my sister and I thought it would’ve been funny if there was a Jack Sparrow action figure and they got Johnny Depp to play the voice XD
i think having some defect toys would of been interesting to see in one of the films…i kinda wish they used the plot where buzz is recalled to Taiwan because of a defect in the buzz lightyear action figures.
Definetly a Transformer. It’s down to Prime (Optimus), Starscream or Megatron for me. I’d prefer Starscream. If not a member of the main cast, at least a member of Andy’s toys in the first two films or at Sunnyside in the third film.
I’d be happy with a cameo of either Prime or Starscream in the films. Alas, the mountain of red tape from money-greedy companies…
There’s so many.
I think in the background of some shots at Sunnyside, there should’ve been plushies of characters from other Pixar films. A plush Sully, for example, would’ve been pretty awesome.
And one of those toy aquarium things would’ve been cool.
Sit n Spin. Even though it doesn’t have a face, so would it still come alive? That is the question.
The Toddle Tikes were missing without explanation.
I would of like to seen DragonBall Z toys. It would of also be cool to see Pokemon, Beanie Baby toys.
Definetly! Realisticly, I wouldn’t want any other name-brand toys that already have established movies and personalities, but the thought of Megatron, Starscream, or even the old Soundwave who Ken would think is “a groovy cassette player” lol. Or it would be awesome to see some of the powerlinx guys actual getting on top of each other and thinking they were one bot…hasbro and Pixar need to team up for a “Transformers Story” short…haha
That’d be hilarious!
That and/or the 1960s Military Joe vs the 1970s AT guys, arguing about who’s cooler.
I wish Andy had had a Combat Carl, or a real G.I.Joe, but then that would’ve ended up being Buzz Lightyear. Apparently Buzz was based on G.I.Joe, at least initially -Omar
Maybe some 4" Star Wars action figures that could still be in a battle between the empire and rebellion.
I thought of something last night. Disney owns Marvel now. Wouldn’t it be funny if Woody and Buzz ran into a Spider-MAn toy or some other Marvel character?
Well, if you look around the background in Al’s Toy Barn, you can find some “A Bugs Life” toys hanging in the isles.
Damn, toystoryfan01 beat me to it. Raggedy Ann and Andy would’ve been awesome to have, though there were the very similar-looking rag dolls Janie and Sally from the first film.
That would’ve been hilarious!
OMG Strawberry Shortcake!!! ( just being funny)
I have a top 10 list:
- Furby
- Transformers
- Gumby
- Play Doh
- Cabbage Patch Dolls
- Beanie Babies
- Teddy Ruxpin
- Power Rangers
- Stretch Armstrong
- Betsy Wetsy
I was expecting for there to be an actual Lego character, unfortunately they were only a couple walking around Sunnyside.
Keep in mind though, most of the toys included in the films are from the Baby Boom era, when all the filmmakers played with toys. That’s why characters like Buzz (based off GI Joe [Combat Carl, in TS1], Six Million Dollar Man-kinda action figures), Etch-A-Sketch, Mr. Spell (See and Spell), Mr. Potato Head, Barbie and Ken, Woody (based off Lassetter’s Casper Toy), Chatter Telephone…these are all the kinds of toys the guys at Pixar had growing up.
Interesting to note though, that the Barbie and Ken in Toy Story 3 are 80’s toys, as sort of Lotso is as well (based off the sort-of 80’s television tie-in mass produced toy [akin to Care Bears]). It may be a stretch but I think it’s because Lee Unkrich is ten years Lassetter’s junior year that slightly more recent toys were included in TS3.
Additionally, I remember Lee Unkrich saying that they’ve recieved offers to include products in their movies but only do so if it provides for the plot, and they can add a personality to them. But really, I think it has to do with the fact they wanted to include toys they remember best.
