It’s ok, i enjoyed the first one, don’t really know if it needs a sequel
I absolutely adore this film! I’m counting down the days until the sequel!

I personally think this is the best sci-fi movie ever created! I couldn’t sit still in Star Wars and think Battle Star Galactica is just too dang disturbing, but there is just something about Tron that really made me tick the first time I saw it. What are your thoughts on this old cult film and it’s 2011 sequel?
A TronSEQUEL? That’s awesome! I’ll have to look into that. I think Tron was such an amazing accomplishment so many years ago when it was made. I’ve only been able to watch parts of it online, but I love it anyway!
EDIT: I searched “tron 2” on IMDb and found it: Tron 2.0. I’m going to look more into this movie when I get back. (Gotta get off for a few hours. : /) Bye!
I watched Tron when it first came on the set…and boy…it blew my mind at what effects were possible for the time. Imagine my surprise when they brought it back again as a level, and an important one no less, in Kingdom Hearts 2. Though I think a sequel MAY harm the classic’s unqiue nature at it’s time…I wouldn’t mind seeing what they could do…
While I wouldn’t go as far to name it the best sci-fi film of all time, I do absolutely adore the film and see it as one of the great classics of the 80s.
As for Tron 2, I can’t wait for it… Needless to say, it’s one of the few Disney sequels of a classic film that EVERYONE wanted. So it’s quite stunning that Disney has finally decided to give the green light to a sequel of such a beloved film.
I’ll be candid, I really only saw Tron because I liked the world in Kingdom Hearts 2. I thought the movie was just ok. I enjoyed the beginning sequences quite a bit, Jeff Bridges is awesome, and the light cycle scene is classic, but halfway in, Iost intrest in the movie.
I am pretty excited for the sequel though. It’s a neat idea for a film, and I’d like to see more done with the idea. I really hope Jeff Bridges is in a good chunk of the movie.
@Woody- As a Star Wars fan, I have to take issue with your first post. One, Star Wars is really Space Fantasy, not Sci-Fi. Second, Star Wars rules.
new footage, new name, and a very vague release date! and only within two days!
here’s two links where you can watch the footage they showed at Comic Con last year, although this time it includes music by Daft Punk and mentions a 2010 release date!
And at the Disney Panel yesterday they announced a brand new name and logo! (is it just me or has this film gone through too many title changes?) here’s the new logo
I can’t wait for this film and now it’s accompanying soundtrack! I was never a big fan of Daft Punk but the music in that trailer is just plain awesome!
I’m not going to lie. I think that the first Tron was a very bad movie. It worked as more of an experiment than an actual film.
But I’m still excited for Legacy. I’m sure that Disney has learned from Tron 1, and hopefully, they will make a much more interesting story this time around. I’m also excited for the Daft Punk score!
The story was really the weak point of the first one. But even so it had a few interesting ideas that were really ahead of its time.
I like the footage from Legacy, but I have to admit I prefer the original design of the lightcycles.
I haven’t watched Tron before, and beyond the simple plot premise of someone going into the insides of a computer, I know nothing of the original film or its upcoming sequel. I heard that the light-cycle sequence was a landmark in film technology history, so to see it being used again in the new trailer is a nice homage. I don’t get the ending, were we supposed to think the hero was the guy on the blue bike or something?
Can’t say I’m too pumped about it yet, though it looks interesting. Will wait for longer trailer.
