I just saw the trailer to this movie on Disney.com. They are remaking the Super Hero who happens to be a dog. Your opinions?
I also just recently saw the new trailer, and I must say that it looks pretty darn cool. The funny thing is that my sister and I (who didn’t know about the original Underdog series until a couple years back) made up a story that was just like this, so I started cracking up when I heard that Disney was producing a film entitled Underdog.
Don’t know if I will see it, however. I might attend for the laughs. I hear that PV really wants to watch this, though, so I can’t wait to listen to her two cents on this subject.

But you guys know what happened last time Disney tried a Super Hero film. The movie Zoom got incredibly bad reviews. And this movie doesn’t look any better.
Actually Mitch, Hypergalaxy is the person who can’t wait to see Underdog. ![]()
I’ve known about this movie for almost a year. I’m anxious to see it, but I hate when animated shows are made into live action movies because they lose their flavor.
Garfield is a prime example. That cartoon was hilarious, but the 2 movies were awful.

PixarVixen - Ahh…that’s right. It was Hypergalaxy. Heheh – my apologies. ![]()
I also don’t tend to favor films that take off after a television series, collection of shows, or video games, which is why I rarely go to see them. However, this particular film looks so stupid as to be funny, so I’ll see it. ![]()
I’m sorry, I’m so behind: Is this the movie with the fire department dog? And he burps in the trailer? If it is, I thought it looked kind of dumb. Not that it will be! (No offense Hypergalaxy
)
But this looked like a typical early twenty first century disney film geared for young kids. With a dumb idea and a silly, predictable plot.
Whu…
Whuu…
Whuuut.
No. Just…NO!
I too saw the show, and thought it was hilarious too.
Now, I am just praying that they don’t botch on the remake. Nowadays, remakes have just gone down the toilet.
Some of that came from Disney.
You mean the old 60s cartoon Underdog? As in, “There’s no need to fear, Underdog is here!” Oh. Dear. Lets just say i dont have very high expectations for that…
I agree with Meg and lennonluvr9. They have potentially wrecked a great classic cartoon. I love Underdog. They used to show it on Nickelodeon, and my sister and I watched it all the time. I have a Sweet Polly Purebred keychain that I absolutely love - it’s probably the coolest keychain I have. I have extremely low expectations for this one, and can only pray they haven’t completely destroyed it. If Underdog doesn’t speak in rhyme, we may have problems. ![]()
According to Wikipedia, your plot, ladies and gentlemen:
I said it about a Simpsons movie (which now I have no intent to see), and I’ll say it here: a movie like this deserves to be animated, plain and simple. Ideally, the Underdog movie should have a cliffhanger plot full of sciencey sounding schemes triggered by the phrase “Simon Says” and many noticeable references to Go Go Gophers, Klondike Kat, Tennessee Tuxedo and Chumley, and Commander McBragg.
Edit: I (finally) just saw the trailer, and while Jason Lee sounds good and all - slightly Buddy-ish - I really don’t think this one’s going to work - more than likely not worth the $6.50. I’ll probably wait to see it when it’s out on DVD and we can rent it for free.
After reading that plot, i still dont think it’ll work either. Does this really need to be remade anyway? And it’s not gonna be animated? That’s even weirder…
I think an Underdog movie would be great, as long as it was animated, and as close to the show’s premise as possible, even though the chances of getting the actual cast is probably pretty low (Don Adams, the voice of Tennessee Tuxedo, died a year or so ago).
I think what happened with the Garfield movie should have been a warning enough not to mess with the classics.
How’dja guess?
Anyways, when I found out about the movie, I nearly lost my breath, and my tummy wummy was doing flip-flops! I’m so excited, I wanna freeze myself so I can’t wait the next few weeks!
I also recently got hooked onto Alvin and the Chipmunks in case anyone didn’t know! ![]()
Edited. I combined both of your posts. – Mitch
Hmmmm…Is it because Jason Lee plays David Seville? ![]()

My cousin wants to see this soooo badly. Don’t know why, though (then again, 5-year-olds live in a seperate universe from ours, lol.)
I’m ecstatic for this movie! Of course I also a fan of the old cartoon and I <3 Jason Lee. =)
When did word get out about an Alvin and the Chipmunks movie? I haven’t heard anything about it…
Oh man. I used to love that show. =)
I discovered it in a Jason Lee Facebook group, and IMDb.com says the movie’s theatrical release date is December 14, 2007.
Back on-topic, I saw the music video of the remake of the Underdog theme song on Disney Channel. Not bad. ![]()

Yeah, I just saw some of it, too… It’s not bad - not my style, but I have to give them major props for using the original lyrics.
