Ohh man, my sister loves the Digaea games, and I love Prinnies
Then you’ll both love this game!
I love the tagline: [spoil]“Every life is precious. Except his.”[/spoil] Poor, expendable Prinnies, you know we love you!
This is officially my new favorite game ever!
The Back to the Future video game came out today…finished it already. I loved it from a story perspective, but it’s a pretty lame game overall, especially compared to Telltale’s other adventure games.
The big problem was the puzzles. There was really only one “real” puzzle during the entire ~3-4 hours of the episode. The rest were just “go talk to ____”, “use obvious item with ____”, etc. I’m hoping it’s just because it’s the first episode of the game and this is Telltale’s first game that might be played by people unfamiliar with the logic of adventure games.
But other than that, it’s an awesome game. The story is exactly what you’d hope for so far in a 4th installment, and I was honestly touched a couple of times. The voice acting and music were spot on, and the new characters fit in with the story perfectly. Can’t wait for episode 2.
You can see the beginning of the game here: youtube.com/watch?v=Rn8TDgNi2Zk
There’s a Back to the Future game now?
That’s interesting. I know that Telltale Games was doing games of Wallace & Gromit and Bone, but not Back to the Future. Guess I missed a lot while I had the internet off. The look of the characters in this game kind of reminds me of that movie Monster House. They also did a good job at faking me out in that intro.
Welp, the last couple of days I’ve been hiding in my room, playing Donkey Kong Country Returns. Pure bliss, lemme tell ya! Twelve years of waiting CAN pay off, you know! I am so incredibly thankful of Retro to have retooled a seemingly dead series. And Diddy is the cutest thing, ever. Those little squeaks he makes when he hits his head fffff <3
Oh and I’ve been playing Starfox Adventures as well but I can’t seem to get past that one level in Moon Mountain Pass (or something similar) with all those barrels. And what about Tricky, AKA small annoying animal? I’ve yet to see him! Any people out here who know the game inside-out?
I got 5 for Christmas, but 2 don’t work and 1 I already have a new version of. Though I did get Epic Mickey. It’s epically hard! Although that might have to do with my supreme inexperience with the Wii.
I am glad to see that there are Nippon Ichi fans in here!
Wow, i love this game, but it is HARD I can´t wait to play the sequel!
I got Epic Mickey for Christmas and it’s excellent so far. The story and cutscenes are excellent, and the art style and graphics, though lacking in variety at times, are very inspired. The controls are good and it has just about a perfect level of difficulty (though a lives system would’ve made things a bit more challenging for the better). The only problem I have so far is the camera, which can spaz out sometimes and put itself at awkward angles, forcing me to redo some sections of the game. But overall, I’m really enjoying it.
Over the past two months or so, I got:
Wii:
Kirby’s Epic Yarn - fun, easy platformer, finished it the other day
Goldeneye 007 - great shooter with great campaign and fun online modes, almost done
Super Mario All-Stars 25th Anniversary - Direct port of the SNES game, but the SNES game was great, and it comes with a cool soundtrack and history book CD.
WarioWare: Smooth Moves - an early Wii game I’ve had my eye on since 2007, I got it on eBay for like $20, sooo fun
Punch-Out!! - another game I’ve had my eye on since release, very clever fun.
Sonic Colors - FINALLY a good Sonic game, having a lot of fun with this one. But if Robotnik’s new name is “Dr. Baldy McNoseHair” (You’ll know what I’m talking about if you’ve played it), I’m out.
Donkey Kong Country Returns - fantastic, challenging platformer that I’m having fun blasting through in co-op mode with my bro.
DS:
Super Scribblenauts - Got it release day, everything great from the original with fixed controls, adjectives, and deeper levels.
Mario vs. Donkey Kong: Mini-Land Mayhem - surprised at how great and clever this game is. The most polished MvDK game yet, and my second favorite (My first being the GBA game without the minis)
360:
Kinect (with Kinect Adventures), Kinect Sports, and Sonic Free Riders - Pretty cool, but I don’t find myself playing for long sessions. The controls are relatively precise and work, but bug out every now and then. You have to calibrate too much, and Sonic just isn’t working for me. Overall, pretty cool I guess.
My bros also got some games like Mass Effect, Fallout: New Vegas, and Black Ops. I know, I’m extremely spoiled.
I actually got this in the mail the other day, won it in a contest. I enjoyed the original game but it got old pretty quick, so I hope this one is an improvement.
I’m pleasantly surprised that I actually got a few games this year for Christmas.
For Wii, we happened to get Kirby’s Epic Yarn and New Super Mario Bros. Wii… I prefer Kirby so much better. I hate the controls on New Super Mario Bros. It’s not fun at all. Kirby, on the other hand, has excellent music, the graphics are beautiful, and Kirby is seriously the cutest thing ever.
Now, the other thing we got that I wasn’t expecting was a DSi… and with it came Super Scribblenauts and Professor Layton and the Unwound Future. I have already completed Professor Layton (not 100%), but it’s probably gonna take me a while to finish Super Scribblenauts. They are both great games, and I have been having more fun on the title screen of Scribblenauts than I am playing the game.
It makes me wonder if I’m the only one who thinks that Professor Layton is a very well-made game. I mean, really - there are even hand-drawn cinematics throughout the game, and, when added up, it has over 30 minutes of entire animated scenes. It’s really cool. The story line is pretty good, as well (for a video game, that is), and the puzzles are pretty creative. It’s definitely not a game for someone who hates math and has a hard time thinking in three-dimensions.
So… after explaining all that, I have to say I was pretty fortunate this year to get some really good games. Now, the only thing that I need to try is Epic Mickey, and I’m pretty sure my aunt is looking in to getting it. So I might be able to borrow it at some point.
Also, I believe that one of my brothers’ friends is going to bring his Kinect tonight for New Year’s, so that’ll be fun. I have never really played Xbox before… so I hope the controls aren’t too hard.
Dang, long post is long.
I didn’t know this existed, but I enjoy adventure games (favorite: Syberia series).
The Whispered World and Machinarium look nice. And Wallace & Gromit in adventure game form? I must have! I also want to see if I can get a copy of The Neverhood, as I haven’t played that in a very, very long time.
Oh yes, i loved Unwound Future too. I could say it is the best of the three games which have been released.
It´s a shame that i already knew the plot before playing the game, though (Wikipedia ).
And about the puzzles, i am glad that the puzzles were easier this time
I was looking to the guide everytime in Diabolical Box, man, the puzzles were HARD.
Is anyone playing 9 hours 9 persons 9 doors? I could say it´s a mix between Layton and Saw (you solve puzzles, and the story is a bit (but not very much) creepy). I started it yesterday and i am very impressed
Ristar: Haha, I guess I’m not the only one who looked up the plot for the Unwound Future before even playing it. xD I found that I enjoyed the story line for the Unwound Future much better than the Diabolical Box (it dealt with the main characters more). I was also slightly disappointed with the fact that the puzzles were easier on the Unwound Future, because I really enjoyed the puzzles on the Diabolical Box, even though they were painstakingly hard.
And, no - I haven’t heard about this “9 Hours, 9 Persons, 9 Doors” thing. It must be an intense game if it’s a mixture of Layton and… Saw.
I have a new favorite game:
Yep, my new favorite game is SUPER MEAT BOY!!!
Super Mario All-Stars 25th Anniversary- Your luckey you got it, everywhere I go it’s sold out.
Is anyone here a Kingdom Hearts/Soul Calibur/Marvel Vs capcom fan?
I just bought Kingdom Hearts Re:Coded today. I’m not far along enough to know exactly what I think of it, but so far it’s fun. I like that they implemented the Birth by Sleep Command Deck system into the combat, and also the implementation of some different gameplay types, like side scrollers and turn based RPGs. The camera control is really bad though, even for a Kingdom Hearts game.
Someone playing Ghost Trick? Is made by the people who made the Phoenix Wright games It is awesome.
