Interesting. Wonder if it’s true.
One thing I do know: I
definitely wasn’t expecting that!
Man, I’d rather wait for an official article about this than have a
one-sentence possible rumour… it kills me all the more!
What’s even worse, it’s one of those titles that doesn’t give you a hint at what the movie
is about (i.e., Cars). ![]()
Haha, yeh… or Toy
Story, or A Bug’s Life, OR Monsters, Inc! It could be anything! It could be about… a UFO! The
possibilities…
Isn’t that why PIXAR
films are so great: We never know what to expect??
EDIT - But I’m doubting a 2008 release. Seeing as
there’s been a pattern where it’s two movies for years and then a year of no movies, like this:
1998: A
Bug’s Life
1999: Toy Story 2
2000:
2001: Monsters, Inc. (This seems to be the only wrench in my
theory)
2002:
2003: Finding Nemo
2004: The Incredibles
2005:
2006: Cars
2007:
Ratatouille
I think 2008 will be barren and 2009/2010 are the years we’ll see films
Here’s some more validation, about a guy name Bruce Zick working on
W.A.L.-E.:
After the Disney/Pixar deal, I think Iger mentioned that Pixar would be releasing one
film per year. The fact that it’s taking so long for them to release upcoming titles might prove otherwise, but
I have a feeling that they’ll have something ready for 2008, be it this 'W.A.L.-E" movie or something
else.
That’s what Iger HOPED, but if you remember that Zemeckis
Article, Iger seems to be incapable (yay!) of changing the PIXAR way of life any time soon . . . that’s why
he’s supposedly looking for other filmmakers to make 3-D films in less time than PIXAR.
Very interesting… yet I have
absolutely no idea what this movie is going to be about… Could it be about aliens? (Speaking of aliens, I just
saw E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial a few days ago. That movie was undoubtedly a
masterpiece.)
Ah, right, the new announcement. At least Iger’s not forcing Pixar into a
stressful situation… or so I hope.
If the title of the next Pixar film after Ratatouille is officially
announced by Steve Jobs, Iger, or anybody from Pixar, in the next little while, I’ll assume that it is near
completion and ready for 2008. After all, the guy from the newsarama said, "I’ve currently
worked on a Disney movie, Rapunzel, a Pixar movie, W.A.L.-E…", which could
possibly mean that the film is almost done.
That tiny little bit of info is open to sooo many theories.
Gah! I want more info!
Ok ok ok, Lets try and work out what it
means…
My guess…
Wily Aged Lady-Eggs
Well - I think this looks fairly solid. I wouldn’t say it’s a for sure just quite
yet but I think there’s a lot of credence to the rumor. Also, Pixar will be releasing films anually from here
on out except in rare cases (like Cars) when they’re delayed to get a better grip on the market. The breaks
between previous films don’t apply any more because it’s no longer a start-up company. This is also consistent
with what the execs have said in the recent past.
As for what the movie is about I don’t know. My first
thought was of course Andre and Wally B. but I seriously doubt any connection. Looking at Bruce Zick’s comment
though about having worked on films you’ll notice the other two Pixar fils he mentions is Bug’s Life and
Finding Nemo. That sets me up to believe that this is an Andrew Stanton film and it may be more than coincidence
that the title WALE is close to Whale or a marine creature like would be seen in Finding Nemo. Acronyms are also
usually related to what they do so WALE suggests somethin sub-mariner especially since W could easily stand for
Water or A stand for Aquatic. Also - if this is a Stanton project, then with Bird doing Ratatouille it would
mean Docter is still freed up for MI2 and writing TS3.
Perhaps this is the sci-fi flick we’ve been
hearing so much about. Lastly, Zick said he worked on it which suggests it is set for 2008 since the backgrounds
are already done. But I still wonder if this maybe got out a bit early and MI2 is really next with WALE slated
for 2009. Guess we’ll just have to wait and see! ![]()
That’s a lot of
speculation, Dash: And some pretty good logic, to boot!!
I still like the whole yearly break thing after
two films idea. I don’t think PIXAR would move THAT fast into a year thing Post-merger. Maybe in three-five
years we could see a annual PIXAR film!
Has it really been confirmed that they are doing an MI2?? Because
as much as I love it (second favorite, next to A Bug’s Life), I feel it stands perfect on it’s own . . . and
plus I’d love to see Pete Doctor do something new.
And I’d like Stanton to be involved in TS3 . . . he
worked on the first two, ya know!
And like I said earlier, I really don’t want to see TS3 until
2010+
As for what W.A.L. - E. could mean . . . maybe "We ARE Legendary! - Entertainers (that
is)!!
You might be surprised. They had “several” films in
production before the merger and at that time the plan was to be at TWO films per year by 2009. So IMO I think
it’s a reasonable assumption they will continue from here out to be a film every year.
Interesting that many people think it might be about aliens - that’s what I
said about “The Extra”.
What do
you guys think of W.A.L-E?
Neat! ![]()
Very cool Swordsman!! That be very
appreciated!!
You may be right, Dash. Heck, you probably are! But I don’t know – I guess I’m
hesistant to hear PIXAR becoming a yearly phenomenon!!
Off Topic - I just saw a Penn & Teller bit, and
my SIDES ARE BURSTING!!
I’m all for a new Pixar film bi-annually as well… it made the wait for Cars
all the more exciting!
Is there any word on future announcements for these titles? I know Steve Jobs has
been chatting a bit earlier in the year, and he’s sooo close to releasing the names but he never does. Argh!
Maybe this Christmas is our time.
Does anybody have any new info. about
W.A.L.-E? ![]()
