WALL-E Plot

So I was browsing Upcoming Pixar just a few minutes

ago, when I got this crazy idea for what the plot of WALL-E might be like…

NASA has

created their first, fully automatic land rover capable of maneuvering itself along the floors and terrain of

various planets. Their first mission? Mars.

“WALL-E” is the name they christen the robot, the

name itself standing for the title they provided it with: Wayward Anamatronic Life-Like Extraterrestrial. Unknown

to them, their little creation is more humanoid than they imagined…

WALL-E is eventually sent on his

first mission to a distant planet, that planet being Mars. His primary goal is to study the surrounding area and

gather data for the researchers and astronauts who created him. At first, all goes smoothly – he gets the job

done and is just about to return to the main space station over Earth via a shuttle, when the space port itself

runs into some technical difficulties. A virus has somehow crawled its way into the shuttle which will transport

WALL-E back to the space station, rendering the shuttle inoperative. The virus itself was of yet undiscovered,

and is a completely new error that is unknown to the scientists. Henceforth, they have no way to correct it, and

WALL-E is left stranded on Mars, alone and without any aid of anykind.

The robot itself begins to show

signs of life that were unrecognized by the researchers when he was first created. He has emotions and exhibits

signs of sympathy, fear, and apprehension. For some reason, he understands that his main goal now is to return to

the space port, although he doesn’t quite know why.

The rest of the film follows WALL-E’s adventures in

trying to escape from the planet he is stranded on.

I know it’s a crazy idea, but I just

had to share it. Kind of like E.T. on wheels. (snigger)

What about you

guys? What do you speculate the story will be like?

That’s a very plausible storyline,

Mitch.

And in his endeavor to return to Earth, WALL?E could encounter

many interesting characters willing to lend him a hand…or a tentacle, or a…whatever. LOL It’s space. The

possibilities are endless.

I wish I had your ability to conjure up good plots.

~~=oP

PixarVixen - Exactly – he might meet up with

another alien or something who decides to help him out. Or perhaps a second space team from…saaay…Russia,

just happens to end up on the same planet as WALL-E, thereby enabling our little hero to escape.

Oh, and

thank you for reviewing, PV. Very kind.

And hey – no sweat. We all have

our special talents and God-given abilities. I just happen to have a knack for writing – it comes naturally

without effort. I’m sure there is something you can do that I would probably envy. hugs

I like that plot. I actually find it very

Pinocchio-esque, which is good.

CountSolo - Hey, yeah – Pinocchio. I never thought of that. Nice speculation.

And thank you.

Edit/Update: I forgot about this little snippet of

information on Jim Hill Media:

“Robots-in-love story”, eh? Interesting.

I was thinking along a general storyline similar to Cars. Which is something like:

Life about robots and their functions.

The

Star Swordsman - Interesting. But would Pixar want to follow a similar story-line, or do something

entirely different? Their goal is to create new stories and ideas, so they will probably do something new

concerning the plot, I imagine.

I see. well, maybe a theme along those lines but they will include a conflict in the

world of all robots.

Thanks to a friend,

and fellow Randall Fan, of mine, Pixar has shown a letter to it’s shareholders that included confirmation of the

movie and name of their 2008 release, W.A.L.L.-E
Even more greatful, a PICTURE of the main character

W.A.L.L-E(pictured above, if not, try putting it in the Address bar).

After looking over the picture I’ve

taken up a few theories of my own to what W.A.L.L-E is.

Looking over his construction, W.A.L.L -E doesn’t

seem to be an alien crafted robot. From what he looks like, W.A.L.L -E seems to be a new class of construction

robot due to his tank-like wheels and, from what I can tell, stretchable arms.
Although it seems a little

unortodox for a small guy like him to be able to lift huge things, as far as I know it has been seen before in

several occasions, especially in science…err…“fiction”.
From what I can tell W.A.L.L -E might

very well be a single robot, as in not a series, as, again what I see, not much of a serial number.
In the

picture I suggest he’s probably either talking to another robot (perhaps one that is blue plated given the

reflection in his eyes. Or a depressing landscape.
With the landscape I can guess two things. MAY be an alien

planet, perhaps one used for colonization for human/robot civilization, or an entirely different planet inhabited

by robots.
Unsure if it looks right, but I think there is a sand storm behind W.A.L.L -E.

Of course

allot of speculation can be made here.
The small piece of structure behind W.A.L.L -E, and the fact the

sandstorm is in the background and not near W.A.L.L -E, is that he might be entering somewhere.

As far as

I can guess the setting probably won’t be Earth, unless it’s in an apocolyptic time, which is usually dictated

by a desolate landscape.

Back to W.A.L.L -E. The guy seems to have emotion, probably a contradicting

factor to other robots, making for a good plot point. And maybe his size is also a factor (For all we know the

“structure” near him may actually be another robot skiffing across the landscape).

But overall

it seems the movie will focus on robots and perhaps a robot civilization or a post-apocolyptic event. It’s

always been a popular idea that machines would overthrow or live on after humans (i.e. Matrix).

I speculate a

story line less attached to current events, a line Pixar tends to take. However I do agree with the idea of him

being lost, and I could definitly see that as the plot. Explains the robots lost/scared expression or eyes or

face thing, assuming thats his face I’m looking at.

“Robots-in-love story”, eh? Interesting.

Intergalactic West Side Story.

what more can I say?

XD anyways… love the idea

Mitch…

I just read something a few secnds

ago that said “Walle is about a robot looking for a home in space” but now I cant find the link!

Are

you referring to the following Variety

article?

Pixar preparing for

next film

I love all the ideas

that are being discussed here, and all of the different possibilities of what WALL-E will actually be about. But

you know what Pixar’s like- whatever they do, and no matter how much of a die-hard fan one can be, they always

manage to surprise us, one way or another.

A home in space is what he is searching for? I don’t think Pixar has tackled a story

like this. I can see humor and sadness unfold in this tale.

I think “WALL? E is about a robot looking for a home in space” is way better then

the idea of “robots-in-love”.

Perhaps the outer space is planet Earth. Either that or

I’m looking forward to tomorrow night’s return of Battlestar Galactica a little too much! :stuck_out_tongue:

If he is looking for a home in space where do you hink he

comes from?

they might do a sort of Bicentenial man thing… (no,

I’m not talking about that horrible Robin Williams movie, I’m talking about the book by Isaac Asimov)

Great plot Mitch.

But, like someone else said, I

don’t think Pixar will do anything with current events.

My version is a little more like

A Bug’s Life with a little outcast robot that has to prove himself to other robots

(or droids, whatever). He has to go off to some remote place and find his true family or something.
