lizardgirl - I completely, 100% agree with you on that concerning the marketing for
Cars, lizardgirl. The teaser was cute, but it didn’t
get me as “hyped up” as I would have expected it to. And the trailers had some funny moments in them,
yet they didn’t appeal to audiences as much as they should have. Unfortunately, the film wasn’t all I hoped it
would be either…but there you have it. Sometimes I wonder if Disney did that on purpose: if they didn’t market
the film well enough so that it would do badly in the box office league.
Marketing is something I’ve
been worried about since Cars was released. How much will
Ratatouille and WALL-E be advertised next to
Cars? Hmm…
Mitch-
Exactly. If the Cars marketing had been as good as all the other Pixar films, I wouldn’t be worried, but that
just wasn’t the case. I really do hope that Ratatouille and Wall-E are properly represented as the spectacular
films that they’re most likely going to be.

lizardgirl - Yeah, so do I. Unless Pixar is really
trying to keep Ratatouille a secret until the upcoming months, the film really
isn’t getting alot of attention at the moment…concerning advertising. Sure, we have a teaser trailer (an eight
month old teaser trailer, at that), some video game screenshots, and a sneak peak at the upcoming books and
merchandise, but that’s it. I sure hope it’ll be alright in the marketing campaign…
As for WALL-E,
well…I’m not as worried about that film as I am about Ratatouille, for some
reason. Since a photo from the production has been released this early, then perhaps that denotes the fact that
it will be advertised fairly well? We’ll just have to wait and see…
keep in mind though…
Disney has been rather… odd in the whole marketing department… as of late.
Take for example,
Pirates of the Caribbean : At World’s End. It’s gonna be one of the biggest blockbusters this year, and
it’s only three months away till release.
and what do they have for marketing??? NOTHING.
nadda.
zippoo.
ziltch.
not even a teaser!!! a TEASER!!!
so if they don’t have a teaser for Pirates out yet, and that’s only three months away, then I highly doubt
that they’ll have a teaser for Ratatoullie.

Googly-Bear - Yeah, I agree. I didn’t even know that the next “Pirates”
film was so close to release. Maybe Disney has gone through the “lets-keep-things-secret” door, as
well? Who knows…
And, by the way, a Ratatouille teaser has already been
released – it was shown along with Cars in June of 2006. It’s the official trailer
we’re waiting for.
I’m not too worried about WALL-E though, like I said. It’s more than likely that
we’re going to get a teaser/trailer of it along with Ratatouille, so I’m not that
concerned at this point.
I am listening to the Walt Disney Investor Conference with Ed and John currently
discussing the future of Walt Disney Feature Animation and PIXAR.
Along with confirming that both WDFA
and PIXAR will be doing CG aimation, WDFA will be bring traditional animation back.
They described Wall-E
as a love story!
From what I remember, Wall-E is the last of a group of trash collecting robots??? sent
down to clean planet earth.
During his time on earth, Eve (robot) visits to check on the progress and
Wall-E falls madly in love.
While I am not doing the story justice, I just thought I would
share.
Also, John just confirmed Toy Story 3 (with a special appearance by Buzz and Woody) stating that
he has been wanting to make this film since 1999.
And PIXAR is extremely proud of Ratatouille!
Wow, nice info ROBONICS95! The robot’s name is Eve?
And it’s a trash collecter for Earth? Interesting…
Remember…this is me transcribing from streaming audio.
May not be exact, but I am
just sharing what I heard.

ROBONICS95 - Wow – that’s incredible! Thank you so much
for the wonderful information. I hope Disney/Pixar doesn’t mind…
So WALL-E
is possibly a love story, eh? Man, I was thinking otherwise. Oh well. I’m sure it
will be great, no matter what the plot-line is. The overall context of the film sounds quite charming, actually.

And I love the last part:
Huzzah! I knew they would be.
I hope they dont mind either…
But being that this streaming audio conference was available to the
public I didnt see a problem with sharing.
Also, read the American Dog post in the "Other
Disney" section
P.S. John described that some scenes of Wall-E were to create a WHOLE NEW Space
Experience!
ROBONICS95 do you remenber
anything else about what they talked about Pixar? or is that it? BTW: Thanks for the info.!
Wow! Awesome
news ROBONICS95. Thanks for the info.
So there is a robot named eve, huh? I wonder if there will be and Adam?

BTW: Where did you get this sound file from? The disney website? Or more specifically, an
investor relations page?
John was very happy to be a part of the Disney
“Family” (this was PIXAR’s first Investors Conference)
Ratatouille-They said they have improved
in creating a fluid movement for these characters. He paid respect to Walt Disney animation as being the leader
in bringing “gravity” to characters and how they had pushed themselves to bring the same concept to
Ratatouille.
Wall-E- He began to describe the story of Wall-E and then began to describe how not only has
PIXAR created memorable stories but also great characters. He said that the robots in this movie will be the most
charming of the characters ever created.
The audio will be posted online for all to hear once again, so I
will keep us all posted with a link so that we can ALL enjoy John and Ed’s excitement for the future of
animation, Disney, and PIXAR.
Heheh… I hate to nickpick you with questions ROBONICS95, your awesome, but there was a Pixar
investor relations conference? Wow! And I didn’t quite catch this: you were there?
Thanks for all the
info! I live on this stuff!

I can see how my post could be confusing.
It was the Walt Disney Company Investor Conference and no I
was not there.
I had the luxury of being home today, and listened to the conference live which can be
accessed here:
corporate.disney.go.com/investor … tions.html
Hopeully later today
they will have the recorded audio posted on the site so that I can go back to pick up the details that I
missed
Hope that helps

My
compliments to you for keeping us posted, ROBONICS95. I can’t wait to hear more
about this conference once the audio clip of the meeting is available.
That’s wonderful concerning
Ratatouille and how they have managed to make the movements/actions of their
characters more “fluid”. It is certainly apparent that they were heading along that track when we first
saw the teaser trailer for the said film. And bearing in mind the fact that rats are very flexible animals in
themselves makes me happy to know that the Pixar animators have achieved and captured that fluid movement.
As for WALL-E: Wowie! A “new space experience”? Myself being a huge astronomical/science nut, I
can’t wait to see this!
Wow all this new stuff! I find that I’m getting all
geeked out about Wall-E and then I remind myself that Ratatouille still hadn’t come out! Ratatouille sounds
like it’s gonna be another big hit I’m excited!
Whats up with Buzz and Woody making a special
appearence? Does this mean they aren’t the main characters?!?! Thanks for all the info ROBONICS95.

Hmm. I’m not particulary fond of romance stories, and if I
remember correctly we’ve already had a ‘robots in love’ animated movie…Still, I’m looking foward to it. How
could I not?
BTW, did they say aything about it being silent?!?
How interesting! a romance! that will be different. And
I’m certainly gonna love the space setting.

[/i]
there is?? O.O
I think it sounds like a very charming storyline… I always
liked the couples in Pixar, they were cute without being… cheeesey
and of course, I’m totally pysched about the whole space/si-fi/robots thing… I’ve been readig
Isaac Asimov and Ray Bradbury… so this just goes right along with it.
